Chapter 23 - The Ancient Battlefield

Romani addressed everyone.

``Without beating around the bush, I would like to know if anyone is experiencing what I am.``

``You mean...`` Lifeless ascertained.

``Yes! Something is trying to taint our power.``

Septum said gravely.

``It must be from those pesky humans!``

Romani said in anger, the apathy in his voice jarring to the ears.

Turning to Beatrice, he roared angrily.

``If it wasn't for you deceiving us into sharing our power with foolish mortals, this wouldn't have happened!``

``Now this is how you treat your host? You are being cruel to a weak woman like me!``

Beatrice smile remained unchanged. She stretched slightly, her 'assets' inadvertently almost popping out of the prison they were locked in.

Romani looked away as he saw this, gulping.

The fact that one was a God didn't mean that one didn't have carnal desires. Besides, as the GodKing of War and Destruction, Romani had a greater form of primal instinct.

``This is no time to fight amongst ourselves! ``

Aquarius said and looked at Romani disdainfully.

``Besides, our powers have grown significantly over the years as a result of the Warlocks.``

Septum shook his head and sighed.

``We have to be careful. If you find any part of your power being polluted, destroy it! I and Beatrice will try to find a solution to all of this.``

[A/N: Lifeless - GodKing of Death, Romani - GodKing of War and Destruction, Beatrice - Mother Nature, Aquarius - GodKing of Tides, Septum - GodKing of Lightning.

Together, they are the five GodKings and pillars of Titan. Sorry guys, I mistakenly documented four GodKings, just edited it now.]

...

Leo had reached the Frontline for close to a month, and was now aware of the full picture.

The Frontline was a sort of buffer zone between the Outerlands and the main battlefield.

This masterpiece of a defensive line was more than a thousand kilometers long wall, baptized by centuries of flesh and blood.

Tens of Millions of soldiers, and millions of Warlocks originating from various sects, were stationed here to guard all of humanity against the nightmare called the Aberrations.

The Frontline had several dozen cities, serving as residence for the inhabitants of the Frontline and the Ancient Battlefield.

According to his knowledge, there was an Aberration tide every year.

He was 'fortunate' enough, to be experiencing one at this very moment!

Hundreds of thousands of Aberrations filled the observer's field of vision. The air reeked of sulphur as Aberrations collided with the fifteen meter tall walls.

Soldiers yelled as they fired countless arrows towards the monsters below while Warlocks unleashed their Spells with bloodshot eyes.

Leo was shocked at the intensity of the battle he was witnessing.

There were no battles of this scale back on Earth. Most of the battles resembling small-scale skirmishes.

However, Leo's eyes brightened once more, as fighting spirit filled them.

With a loud roar, he leapt into battle, his Martial Spirit appearing behind him, having increased to a height of seven meters due to his increase in power.

When he started fighting, his vision turned bloody red...

Only one thought swirled in his head...

'KILL! KILL! KILL!'

There were many high tier Aberrations, but Master and Grandmaster Warlocks stepped out to face them.

The scene at the battle was utter chaos.

A dense network of earth spikes appeared in a ten meter radius of a middle aged man, piercing any Aberration in that range to porcupines.

However, a Tier Nine Aberration - Evil Blade appeared and tore him to pieces with hundreds of blade.

This was a microcosm of the war happening around Leo.

In the midst of the fighting, the combatants were able to make out traces of battle a long distance away, probably tens of kilometres. The shockwaves reached the Frontline.

'Divine Warlocks!' Leo concluded, before seeing something from the corner of his eyes.

A Master Warlock of Mother Nature was binding a few lower level Aberrations, not realizing that a Tier Seven Aberration was approaching her.

Now, Leo was not a saint, but he wasn't just going to watch as someone dies next to him.

Besides, he was eager to test out his power.

{SPIRITUAL OVERLORD TECHNIQUE - Ferocious Tiger: Straight line Burst}

Leo zipped through the six meter distance at speeds that resembled teleportation, and literally whisked the maiden away from the jaws of death!

Without even waiting to receive her thanks, he attacked the Aberration.

{SPIRITUAL OVERLORD TECHNIQUE - Dragon Snake: Power Surge}

Leo's arm doubled in size as he hit the nine-armed Aberration head on, partly in a rage because of the resemblance it had towards the Aberration that killed Little Shawn.

*BOOM*

A depression appeared on its chest as it was sent reeling tens of meters, clearing a few Aberrations along the way.

Leo immediately followed up, appearing before it at ghostly speed before it could recover.

{SPIRITUAL OVERLORD TECHNIQUE - Ferocious Tiger: White Cloud Claw}

With an ear piercing sound, the corporeal claw ploughed through the Aberration's chest, ripping its heart to pieces.

Leo stood on its corpse.

'Victory...'

He looked at his palms in disbelief.

Less than two months ago, he had to give it all he had to kill a Tier One Aberration.

But fast-forward to two months later, and he was cutting up a Tier Seven Aberration like cabbages.

But it was not enough...

It was far from enough!

"AAAAAHHH!!!"

A beastly roar ensued from Leo, echoed by his Martial Spirit.

He leapt into the fighting.

Let the symphony of blood and flesh...

Murder and killing...

Let the sweet venting of primal desires be unleashed unto this place!
