Leo's thoughts were in disarray, as he wondered why the Devils had not won even with such a powerful existence.
Lifeless's next words answered his question.
`We might have lost a long time ago, but this world cannot fully contain his power. He has only appeared twice in five hundred years.`
Lifeless sighed, before finally bringing his attention back to Leo.
`That is the main reason why I came to meet you...
`I have been watching you... for quite some time. You could become one of the keys to break this stalemate.
`Among the others, you have one of the highest chances of becoming a God.`
Leo became confused.
'The others?'
Lifeless waved his hand, a necklace covered in ancient patterns appearing in the air before Leo, who promptly caught it.
`As you are not a Warlock, the ways in which I can help you are limited. However, I can at least give you a protective charm.
`This necklace contains a portion of my power, which can be unleashed three times. Whenever you're in danger, just sink your consciousness into it. As long as the opponent is not a Devil King, they will be destroyed instantly. Of course, it is also a key...`
"A key?" Leo asked, slightly confused.
`Two thousand miles in that direction...`
Lifeless began, looking north, deeper into the Ancient Battlefield,
`Are the Strongholds. Fortresses designed to be the gathering place of Devil Hunting Warlocks - elites among the elites. They are located in an alternate space that precedes the Devil Camp. You will naturally know when you reach there. And be cautious; you will meet actual Devils in there.`
After saying this, Lifeless collapsed into black gas, which rapidly turned to nothingness.
When he left, Leo's tense body relaxed, his apprehension finally disappearing.
He looked at the necklace before muttering grimly.
"The feeling of your life being in someone else's hands is... Uncomfortable."
He clenched his fist tightly, before pocketing the necklace.
'My strength will be mine alone.'
...
Leo traveled through the numerous craters and Aberration corpses, a bit absent minded as he recalled the last conversation between him and Cecile
A few days ago...
"WHAT?! You're venturing out?!"
Cecile leapd out of Leo's arms, shocked, and doubting her own ears.
"Why?" She forced out another question.
"I already told you." Leo let out an exasperated sigh.
"I advanced to the Divine Warlock Realm recently, and I need to go to the core parts of the Ancient Battlefield if I want to see any growth."
"SO WHAT!!!" Cecile yelled,
"What happens to me after you're gone? Do you even care?"
Tears shimmered in her eyes.
Leo sighed, feeling a pang of guilt. He took a deep breath and looked into Cecile's eyes.
"Of course I do. Cecile, I know you want a stable life, but that I cannot give. I hope you can understand..."
"Understand What?!" Cecile's voice rose a few notches, before finally calming down. She said with resolve.
"It's over between us. You can go and seek death, I don't care anymore."
She trudged out of the room, banging the door.
Coming back to the present, Leo shook his head and cleared the messy thoughts.
'My priority is to get stronger.'

And so, with a clear goal in mind, Leo navigated the battered grounds of the Ancient Battlefield.
The hours blurred into days...
The days turned into a full week...
Before Leo finally reached his destination.
He had seen it from dozens of miles away, but the impact was not as strong as when he was right before him.
A series of cracks and shards of what seemed to be mirrors formed a wall and stretched as far as the eyes could see. In them, Leo saw countless scenes that were incomprehensible.
The primordial state of the world was projected in these cracks in space.
Leo hurriedly turned his gaze away, his head throbbing from the mental pressure.
Right at this moment, the necklace given to him by the GodKing of Death burst out in piercing white light and floated out of where he kept it, forcing him to shield his eyes.
While it was in mid-air ,a wisp of gloomy aura, with no doubt who owned it, came out of it and melded into the space wall. A black dot appeared on the space wall, before expanding rapidly to form a dark tunnel-like holedozens of meters in diameter.
The necklace reverted back to normal and fell into his hand, while the hole started closing slowly.
Leo stared at the passage in front of him, slight hesitation appearing in his eyes.
Scenes of the past came into his eyes.
He thought about Little Shawn...
He thought about Earth...
He thought about this new world...
In a split second, the hesitation in his eyes was forcefully pushed down and replaced by resolve.
In that moment, Leo's heart became firmer, and even the Spiritual Overlord Technique advanced a fair but towards Evolution.
He took wide steps and disappeared into the space passage.
It closed up, changing the future of a singular being forever!
