DIANA
"I would like to first congratulate each team for doing a job well done on taking care of the containers while doing each task. This means that everyone will pass this month's assessment," Delta Greg started.
Seeing how he grinned with us for the first time, I also had a wide and proud grin plastered on my sweaty face. While everyone else did not act like some timid girls and directly yelled and howled as loud as they could.
I can't blame them, though. Since the time that Delta Greg took charge of teaching us, this is the first time we've seen him grin like that. Given that he's always serious and strict in front of us.
"Now, now, calm down, you all. I know you were also giddy and proud with this first time achievement of yours, but I still have to cut short the happiness of some of you. Even though no one failed, not all of you got good grades. To cut this short, let us all know who are the lucky teams and who will have the punishment."
With that, Delta Greg did not disappoint himself and got his expected reaction. Everyone really shut their mouths and calmed down as we all looked at Delta Greg taking out the five containers and setting them all on the table in front of him.
Unlike the look of each container a while ago, it looks different now, but not entirely, as the container now has another container, a rectangular vertical glass box with an open top. Below was where a group number was written.
If I guess correctly, the group number was arranged according to who completed all the tests, so the one with group one probably is our container. Seeing that we are the first group to finish all of it.
"Let's start with the first group who completed all the tasks. Group one, which is Diana's group."
Led by Delta Greg, everyone clapped their hands as well while me and my team stood up. Then he motioned for us to come closer, and I took the lead, followed by Felcy and the rest of the team.
"Before I open this, are you confident that you've got the best container?" Delta Greg asked.
"Yes!"
I was both shocked and amused when everyone shouted back confidently. Shock because they did not even hesitate with their answer and amusement because of the confidence in their voice and expression.
I could only shook my head with a smile at Delta Greg who was looking at me in question. Feeling both happy and proud.
"So confident huh?"
"We have a confidence with Diana and we trusted her insight. That's why we are confident that we will win this test!" Felcy stated.
She even tap me on my back like she wasn't proudly announcing that to Delta Greg but was assuring me with their confidence and trust in me. Now I don't know what to feel with that.
I already know their looking up to me but hearing it coming from them still makes me feel embarrass a little bit. But I could not hide the fact that it boosted my ego. If I was a peacock, I might have subconsciously yet proudly displayed my feathers.
Shaking my thought away from getting sidetracked, I just watch Delta Greg before taking the container with our group number. Although I am also confident myself that our container is the right one with all the effort I put into getting that container, I still felt the feeling of excitement from knowing what is supposed-to-be unknown.
So I anticipatedly watch as Delta Greg remove the paper inside the containers and unrolled it. And as he read the contents, I unconsciously held my breath. "Congratulations! You have successfully chosen the best container! Because of that, you will be rewarded with an exemption on the next monthly assessment with a perfect score!"
And there, another bout of happy yells and howling errupted and this time, I was included. Of course, why would I remain with my smart and calm demeanure when what I heard is really exciting?
"Congratulations again, Diana's group. And since we are done announcing your team's performance, let's talk about your individual performance. This might be a team assessment but it is still important to assess you all individually, lest, you got used on doing this by group and become neglectful with your individual capicity," the delta announce seriously, once again ruining everyone's happiness.
"Oh, come on, Delta Greg! Don't ruin the fun!" Dan exclaimed indignantly.
And everyone followed by showing their dissatisfaction with Delta Greg's love of cutting off everyone's happy moments.
"How about you announce all the team's results first, Delta Greg?" I suggested before they burried the delta with their deep resentment and dissatisfaction.
I lightly chuckled when I heard Delta Greg's sigh of relief. "Let's do that then. Group one, please be seated. Group two, which is Larry's team, come in front."
That settled everything. Once again, I took the lead to go back to where we were seated a while ago. I don't plan on interrupting and helping the pittiable delta, but I also don't want to keep this long as I still have a plan to meet my friends for the one hour break after this test before my next lesson.
Group two, Larry's team, got the container with an additional fifty points, while Karl's group three got the blank paper. Since I knew that that container was supposed to be in Patricia's team, I could just think that before she passed it to her last team member, Karl had successfully exchanged theirs, which is why he now has the blank one.
The fourth group is Eve's team, which got the paper with an additional twenty-five points. And as unfortunate as it is, Patricia's group became the sour loser who got the paper that has a punishment.
Luckily for them, the punishment wasn't that bad. They only have to double their training, which doesn't seem like a punishment to me. After all, it would only bring them meritorious rewards.
The only downside they have is that their team has the fewest points gathered, which will be added to their individual points earned from individual scoring.
Delta Greg gave us our individual points according to our individual ranks. But instead of starting with the person who got the lowest points and going to the highest individual, Delta Greg left out the lowest and highest for last. And that person was Patricia and me.
When it was our turn, he ordered us to stand side by side in front. Patricia had a small pout, while I had a little smile. Not that I'm backstabbing her, but I am actually as disappointed as Delta Greg.
I already anticipated this result, but I could not hold myself from feeling disappointed with her performance. Aside from feeling disappointed, I was also feeling helpless for Patricia. I may not be vocal about it, but I still have this feeling that Patricia will change.
But however good Delta Greg was at ruining the fun, Patricia was just as good at making everyone disappointed. What a great pair! Please note the sarcasm.
"Patricia," Delta Greg started.
He opened his mouth, then closed it again, obviously having no idea how to start or what to say. In the end, he could only sigh; disappointment was clearly visible in his eyes.
"Honestly, I don't know what to tell you anymore. It seems like no advice can change you and no insult or condemnation can transform you. I am now getting tired of berating you. Aren't you also tired of this, Patricia?"
Not only had Patricia stared at Delta Greg with wide eyes, but I also had a surprise look with eyes widened towards the delta. I don't know if we have the same understanding of what he meant by what he said, but I could see the same thought flashing in Patricia's face as she looked at the delta.
And maybe Delta Greg could also read our thoughts as he suddenly chuckled. "Now what are you thinking? Silly." Then he shamelessly pinched her right cheek.
That made me dumbfounded, and when it finally registered to me what they were doing—shamelessly flirting in front of me—I did not hide the disgust in my face as I stared at the two shameless lovers.
Aren't we just talking about serious things? Then how did it end up with them being lovey-dovey? I was just thinking about how to stop Delta Greg if he ever decides to break off his bond with his mate, Patricia, but what is this? How the hell did it end up like this?
Damn it! Return the pity and sympathy I had for Patricia!
"Boo!" The others probably felt sympathy with me, so they helped me in castigating the lovers.
Delta Greg just laughed it off while Patricia's cheeks flushed red. At least there's someone who felt embarrassed.
"I didn't know Delta Greg had this shameful behavior. Wow, what an eye opener," Felcy chided.
I nodded in agreement with her. "Delta Greg was actually a perfect, ideal man, but I changed my mind," I also commented.
It surprised me when Patricia—like a frightened cat with a tail and fur standing on end—stands in front of me like she's hiding the delta from me.
"Yes, that's right! Gregory is not an ideal man. He's actually a two-faced man. When it was only us in the house, he showed his true color. He's a lazy bastard who only loves to eat and sleep with me—hmp!"
"That is uncalled-for," Delta Greg butted in a hurry. "I'll just lecture you back home, Patricia. As for our first ranker, Diana, I don't think you still want to hear praise from me. Then, this concludes our test for today."
"By the way, Diana, Alpha Frank says that you will be excluded for your next class and your other tasks. Alpha has a new task for you and your squad. The Alpha might be assigning your squad to scout on the west border for the preparation of the Lycan King's visits." I looked at Delta Greg in surprise, but it was short as I nodded at him with curious eyes.
"Will the Lycan King visit our pack?" Juvel asked with excitement, and I couldn't help my eyes from rolling.
Everyone knows how Juvel idio— I mean, how he idolizes the Lycan King. Despite the widespread spread of the King's 'egregious' image, Juvel still looks up at the King.
Delta Greg looked at him with serious eyes before he sighed. "Yes. According to the message that the Lycan King distributed to all of the packs under him, the King decided to start his yearly pack visits again, after a year of his silence. Unfortunately, it was our pack who were one of the packs whom he enlisted to visit first."
I snorted, obviously showing how dissatisfied I am. Aside from those people who looked down on humans or other statuses, what I disapproved of the most were those evil creatures who used their status and titles to do bad deeds.
And Lycan King is the best example. He wouldn't have the title "Demon King" if not.
"Then I will go ahead first, Delta Greg," I politely said as I gathered my things. "Please excuse me to Elder Giovan if I won't attend his class again," I said to Patricia, who was the nearest.
I grinned when she nodded before I finally took my leave. It would still take me some minutes before I could reach the central area. Since the classrooms and training area were a few kilometers away from the central area or the main land. It is where the packs' houses and other facilities are situated. And I am sure that my friends who were also in my squad are currently waiting for me.
