Chapter 11 - C010: An Unexpected Visitor

DIANA

I irritatedly looked at the scattered clothes on my bed. Most of them were dresses that Luna Michelle had bought for me everytime she wanted to dress me up.

And I am not getting irritated because I couldn't choose one or whatever. What made me irritated was the fact that I needed to pick one up and doll it up.

What was more annoying was that I needed to dress up just for some unwanted visitor. I don't even have any idea who that was.

That was what Luna Michelle instructed me to do the moment I got home from the training ground. We were in the middle of 'training', even though what I was really doing was beating the hell out of Cornelia's chatterbox's mouth, when a male warrior came in and told me that I was called Alpha Frank.

I was hesitant since I wanted to continue training with everyone, but I'm also quite curious about the reason for the sudden summons. So after saying my goodbyes to everyone, I followed the man, and it was Luna Michelle who welcomed me.

They told me that we would have a visitor coming. It was already six in the evening when I was summoned back home, so who would be visiting in the evening?

Luna Michelle instructed me that the guests they would be waiting for might come late. It would have been past midnight since the so-called guests came from somewhere far away.

I thought it would be fine since I didn't think I needed to meet them, yet before I could completely think like that, Luna Michelle had already broken up with me. I needed to welcome them to the family, so we will be having a light meal at dinner since we will be having our full dinner when the guests arrive.

And do I have a choice of excluding myself when I was told I couldn't eat plenty tonight if I didn't come with them?

There she urges me to take a bath, and then, after eating a light dinner, I need to dress up beautifully for those unwanted visitors.

How badly I wanted to tell them that I wasn't even part of the family, so why did I also need to welcome that so-called visitor? If not for my respect for Luna Michelle, maybe I would really do that. Fortunately, I guess, I did not and just nodded in the end.

So now, here I am wearing only my pink bathrobe. After taking a bath, I was now having a hard time choosing what dress I should wear.

It was hard to choose since I didn't know what the occasion was. Who would want to overdress and become a joke, right? And I also didn't dress improperly, not to embarrass the Dawson family.

In the end, after almost half an hour of deciding, I ended up wearing a semi-formal, above-the-knee white dress. It had long sleeves too, perfect for the already cold weather.

Now, all I have to do is pair it with a style—make-up and hairstyle—that would be appropriate for the occasion and also have a perfect blend with the dress.

I looked at the time on the wall clock and noticed that it was already past midnight. It seems like I really take my time showering and choosing my outfit. I planned to slow my movement to irritate those guests, and I guess I really ended up taking too much time.

I started showering at past ten, finished after eleven, and now I am wearing the dress I chose after thinking for another hour. And it was already time, but I was just doing my hair and makeup.

Whatever. I don't think those people would even come at that exact time. Maybe they will also be late for a few minutes. And it would be enough for me to put on some light makeup and do my hair a bit.

I was in the middle of blow-drying my hair after putting on some powder and lipstick when I heard a continuous light knock on my door.

"Diana? Are you done?" The voice of Luna Michelle ran through the door.

"I'm just about to fix my hair," I answered without removing my focus from blow drying.

I did not hear her voice again, so I thought she had already left. But then, not even a minute passed by when I heard the unlocking of my door. "Pardon the intrusion," Luna Michelle playfully said.

She did not give me time to ask her anything as she pulled me from my seat, got the blower from my hand, and put it down on my vanity table.

"That's enough, young lady. You're already beautiful. Let's not keep them waiting," Luna Michelle gently said.

She made sure to pull the plug of the blower out of the socket before gently pulling me towards the door.

"Wait, I am not done yet—"

"Yes, you are. Let's just comb your hair, a bit and it's done. Here," Luna Michelle insisted.

She even used her hand to comb my half-dried hair and fix it loosely on the side. "There, you looked more natural," she commented.

In the end, since she did not give me any chance to interrupt, I just kept my mouth shut and let her pull me. With the way she did not even let me fix my hair like I planned, there's no way she would let me go.

"How many are the guests, Luna Michelle?" I asked while walking down the stairs with her.

"There are five of them. Remember, Diana. However you find them not pleasing, please keep them in you and mind your words. I don't want something bad to happen, okay?" I silently nodded my head.

How rare. It was the first time Luna Michelle had warned me like that. She knew how well-behaved I was in front of guests. The only time I acted rudely was when that Lycan king became our unwanted guest.

Speaking of it, don't tell me that the guests have some relationship with that lycan, but a vampire wannabe king? Lol. What's wrong with people nowadays? Is making a visit at midnight now a trend?

Walking with my head lowered, we finally reached the dining room. I was looking down because I wanted to hide my scowling face when I suddenly thought of that b*stard. Now, I also remember those teasing words that Cornelia and the rest had told me.

A distinct scoff suddenly interrupted my internal mumblings, which also came with my mental scoff. I immediately shot my head up and looked at the people sitting at the table. One by one, I looked at them, from Nero to Alpha Frank, then to the other side of the table, where four people sat, three of whom I recognized.

Just by seeing those three familiar faces, I already had a bad feeling about who might be the owner of that scoff. So when my eyes caught up with those golden eyes, I could no longer control my muscles, and the scowl I was trying to hide a while ago became visible.

How is that man here again? And the hell did I even prepare so much just to meet and welcome this person? Why did Luna Michelle, or anyone in the house, tell me that the person we were actually waiting for was actually this b*stard?

Well, maybe it would be good if they really did not tell me in the first place, because I would never participate in it, even if they forced me. But what a waste of my time and effort! Also a waste of my precious beauty sleep!

Fortunately, before I could also lose control of my mouth, I immediately controlled it and shut up. I just snorted softly and rolled my eyes at him before walking over to my own seat.

It's good that he's also looking, so he could see how my mood can easily get cranky with only a glimpse of him. He really had the guts to show up for the second time. Even if I made it obvious that I hated him, he could really still come and show up. The nerve!

I kept my cool when I noticed that I was the only one left standing while everyone had already taken their seats. What made me lose my cool was when I noticed that the only free seat was next to that man's seat.

To make it more clear, here's the position of everyone: The table has eleven chairs, five on each side, while the one in the middle has nine chairs. Each side only has four chairs in line.

The chair in the middle, which was the head of the family's seat, was taken by the king. He's really so full of himself. This is only a normal visit, if I remember it correctly. And yet he was still acting all high and mighty.

Anyway, to continue, on the right side of the as*hole were the chairs taken by his own people. His Beta Zamiel, the Gamma Cairo, an unfamiliar woman, and the Delta Rendall, consecutively. And on the left side was the Dawson family. The chair that was beside him was empty, followed by Alpha Frank's, then Luna Michelle's, and lastly Nero's.

So, I'm not sure what's up with the seating pattern or where the other chairs were when they were needed, but the only empty chair was the one where Luna Michelle should have originally sat when we were eating.

I gritted my teeth and took that chair calmly, no matter how badly I wanted to complain. I will not disappoint Luna Michelle because I promised her that I would behave myself.

I just wished that this man would not ruin it. All he needs to do is stay silent, as he currently is, until this visit is finished. What the heck does he even think about this so-late visit of his? Is he really a wannabe vampire? Or did he want to create a trend of his own?

Although I shouldn't care about it, it couldn't be helped! He's a real nuisance!

He's not only disturbing our supposed-to-be deep sleep at this moment, but because of him, I need to get hungry at night and then eat plenty at midnight. How can I sleep soon when I need to make sure that the food I ate will be digested first before I can sleep? What if I was already sleepy? Now I would also need to go to sleep late.

Isn't that a great nuisance?

"Let's start eating, shall we?" Alpha Frank said, breaking the silence.

The moment he said that, a line of housemaids came in with different dishes in their hands. See that? Even these pitiful maids, who were supposed to be at home now, resting after their whole day's work, needed to stay and do overtime.

Gosh. Now I really hate him more than I already did. Tss!

I just eat in silence so as not to utter any nonsense. And everyone else followed suit. Luckily, the food tastes so good that it diverts my mind and attention from those annoying thoughts I have.

Although it wasn't much help, at least it could lessen the burden of holding all the grudges inside of me. And it did not help when I could feel some sneaky glances coming at me.

Although they were not ill-intentioned, it still made me feel awkward and uncomfortable. Fortunately, those sneaky looks did not come from the p*rvert, or I would have thrown him my food.

What I saw when I tried to catch those eyes were the curious eyes of the only unfamiliar face on the table. The beautiful woman in a long blue sweater and high-waisted pants, with her golden-brown hair, smiled kindly at me after I caught her. And since she really has a nice and kind smile, I returned the smile to her with kindness. Then I resumed eating and ignored her completely.

Soon, we finally finished eating, and dessert was served. I was still happily eating my strawberry jello parfait when the unfamiliar lady finally spoke up, saying whatever she had had on her mind for a while now.

"I'm sorry to break the peaceful silence, but I can no longer take this silence. I just want to properly introduce myself to everyone, since I know all of you are more familiar with each other than I am. Although I already know your names, you don't know mine." She started smiling at everyone.

"I am Selene Morrigan, the female beta of his highness, Gener. Nice to meet you all, especially you, Diana," she added, looking at me at the end.

I was slightly surprised when she called my name, but then it was soon clear when I remembered her first words. Maybe it was something these men told her about me or what? Anyway, I also returned a smile. But I did not speak or introduce myself either since it wasn't needed.

"You're really beautiful, more than in person, D. Oh, if it was okay for me to call you that," Selene once again spoke about whatever she had in mind.

And it made me flustered suddenly. If not because the jello was slippery, I would have already spit them out indiscriminately. I immediately took the glass of water that was pushed on me and drank it until it was the last drop. It was only then that I could say my thanks to the good person who gave me the water.

But my thankful smile soon disappeared when I realized that the good person who gave me the bottle of water was actually the p*rverted devil! My face churned prettily when I also realized that the glass he handed me was his very own. And I can say that the water I drank wasn't even full to begin with, so he should've already drunk it.

But. He. Still. F*cking. Made. Me. Drink it!

If my face could really erupt, then I would look like a volcano now, ready for a big eruption. And I would make sure that all my lava would be hit on the p*rvert's face! Damnit!
