Chapter 8 - C07: The Intruder

"PERVERT!"

The human spouted with her mouth as she dipped her body deep into the water with only her nose up to the top of her head showing. But even so, the man who never loses sight of the human noticed the slight reddening of her cheeks.

The man frowned, not because of what the human said nor because of how the woman treated him. But because the woman was a human, it was only at that moment that he realized that.

Although he knew that the woman did not want to hide the fact from him that she was a human, the man still felt it was the woman's fault for not telling him about it. Even if he also knew that it was not the woman's business to share it with him. With her probably bad first impression of him, how can the woman have the time to tell him about her being a human? It was him and his male chauvinism, but he really couldn't accept that he was fascinated and seduced by a human.

And so, with a few blinks of an eye, from a few meters away, the man suddenly appeared in front of the woman. The only indication that the man did not teleport and swim towards the woman was the sound of water splashing together.

He was gritting his teeth and inching closer to the woman. From a meter away, the man was now only a few inches away from her. And maybe because of the fast reflex of the woman, she tried backing away, which made her be sandwiched again by the man—this time, it was at the edge of the lake.

The shock on her face soon disappeared and turned into glaring eyes. "W-what are you doing? Don't you know that I'm naked? Come closer, and I will really call you a pervert for the rest of your life!" she warned, trying to sound threatening while trying to cover her naked body using both of her hands.

And the man who was about to threaten the woman in front of him was rendered speechless by how she looked.

Her long and curly dark-brown hair looks black now under the moonlight. It was spread behind her, floating on the surface of the water. Those wet and plump reddish lips that were slowly retreating deep into the water, including half of those white ones with a hint of pink cheeks.

Those round and misty eyes have a tint of reddening from being soaked in the water for an ample number of hours now. And those oblivious water droplets flowed down her heart-shaped face, teasing the man to look for more.

He knew that the nervous and pitiful look of the woman was because she was afraid of him, but in his intense-looking eyes, it was like the woman in front of her had turned into a pitiful rabbit, which made him want to bully her in many different ways.

Especially when those round eyes widened threateningly. That look was like an invitation for the man to do unruly things to her. And the man was already losing his patience. His eyes darkened dangerously as he stared down at her.

His throat felt dry and thirsty. And he wasn't sure what he was envious of. Is it the woman who is soaking wet or the droplets of water's unbridledness cascading down on the woman's face?

"Heh. What? Are you angry that I called you a pervert? What a chauvinist. You don't want to be called a pervert when you act like one. Hypocrite!" she thwarted, wearing a smug grin on her face while looking up at him, trying to rile him up.

The man's face scrunched up, especially those 's' drawn eyebrows, slightly straightening into a frown. He was dissatisfied with what she had called her, which was obvious on his face. This made the woman widen the smug grin plastered on her face.

"'Cause I'm not," he seriously denied.

And his frown deepened when he realized what he had just said. It wasn't the first time he was called names and such. There were even more harsh and mean words about him than the woman's words, and he would ignore them as if it wasn't him who was being pointed at.

First because he didn't care at all what others thought of him. He doesn't care if people are talking bad about him behind his back. It was like it was not his business at all.

But when it came to the woman in front, it was like his mouth and body had their own minds, saying or doing anything they wanted. Rather than his own business, whatever the woman said about him really hit him hard and in a different way.

It was like he didn't want the woman to look at him that way. That he didn't want her to think about him in a bad way. Whatever the woman thinks of him or talks about, the man will always care about them, even if it's the first time they've met.

And he couldn't understand why he still felt that way when he already knew that the woman was a human. What he hates the most are those weak, dependent, fragile humans!

He was doing his secret infiltration for the Flaming Raven Pack. He was waiting with his two trusted men in a car not far from the pack's border. And when it was exactly midnight, he turned to his subordinates and told them to wait for his signal, as he would do the infiltration alone.

The man moved fast and agilely. His movements were accurate, like he really knew the small forest as he ran from different places in his human form. He was about to cross the border when he sensed other people from different places.

He knew that if he forced his way, he would be undoubtedly spotted by those men, and his infiltration would fail. So he changed his route and ran deeper into the forest. According to his estimation of the whole area, the end of the forest is the shore, which will be spotless for scouts, so he planned to enter the pack territory through the shore.

And he was about to enter the range of the border near the shore when his wolf started acting weirdly. It was wailing excitedly, which was very different from its usual behavior.

His wolf, Gray, is just like himself—cold, indifferent, insensible, and skeptical. They were the kind of apathetic duo who never trusted easily and never showed any care or emotion towards anyone, even the people closest to them. They mostly trusted themselves and only showed emotions to each other.

But at this moment, Gray was showing excitement and enthusiasm like he had never shown before. The wolf, which was also known as ruthless, was now behaving like a dog in front of his owner, acting like it was getting excited for his homecoming.

And before the man could ask and stop the wolf from acting like that, he was taken aback when the wolf suddenly released a gleeful growl before taking over their bodies, which made them shift into their wolf form.

"What the hell, Gray? What are you doing? Return the lead to me this instant!" the man angrily ordered his wolf.

"No!" Gray retorted.

The man growled in annoyance. He tried resisting his wolf and shifting back into human form, but to no avail. He didn't know how, but at that moment, the wolf seemed to be stronger than his willpower. He could only calm himself and try asking his wolf to lower its momentum before he tried to take charge again.

"Fine. Then explain to me what's the matter with you."

The wolf scoffed unhurriedly, although its four paws were hurrying its pace. "You'll know when we reach there," the wolf said mysteriously.

And the man frowned, so the wolf's face furrowed. "Don't play mysterious with me, Gray."

"And don't get mad at me, Gener. Try to feel it. Maybe you'll understand what I was saying."

The man, who was called Gener, hesitated, but he trusted his wolf more than anyone. So, after a few seconds of hesitation, Gener followed his wolf's advice. He concentrated his mind and heightened his senses, feeling everything around him.

He ignored the feeling of the cold wind brushing their fur, the rustling of dry leaves when stamped by their paws, the presence of other wolves, and the quietness of the night. He widened the scope of his surveillance until he felt the beat of his heart.

He was shocked by that loud thump. It became clearer until an unfamiliar yet quite familiar scent of fresh Arabian jasmine hit his nose. It wasn't that strong; if not for his distinct smell, he couldn't even take a sniff. But that sniff was enough to buffer his mind. And his instincts took control, and they blended with his wolf, making their already hurried pace increase and hasten.

Gray felt that Gener had already realized everything. Their minds at that moment became one.

"Mate!"

With a low and silent growl, the big ash-gray wolf takes a leap over a bush. And it was like time had frozen. The ash-gray fur glistened under the moonlight. Then the big wolf turned into a naked man in midair. The moment he shifted back to his human form, time seemed to unfreeze.

He swiftly landed in the water. He ignored the cold and swam as fast as he could towards the woman on the other side of the lake and the owner of that nice scent.

As soon as he reached her, Gener pinned the woman to the rock so that he could see more of her—his mate.

And the moon goddess did not disappoint him. The woman, his mate, is more than anything he ever wished for. She was already perfect for him—more than enough. From her intoxicating scent to her delicate yet ethereal appeal. Everything about her turns him on.

Unfortunately, the woman was not the perfect mate he wished for. What was annoying and irritating for Gener was how the thing he hated the most became the only thing that made the woman's imperfections worse.

Gener could still accept any flaws and imperfections. But if that's about being a weak and fragile human, it doesn't need to be discussed anymore.

Knowing his train of thought, his wolf, who was still excited and restless from finding their mate, growled in disapproval.

"She's our mate, Gener! Whether she's human or not, she's still our mate!" Gray tried to use his senses with words.

Gener did not speak. He was silently watching the person in front of him. He could clearly see her reaction after hearing him talk for the first time.

She looked dumbfounded, and her face reddened as she watched him with wide eyes. Gener couldn't read the woman's thoughts. He wasn't sure why she looked flustered. Does she dislike his voice? His voice when he talked was kind of hoarse because he felt his throat drying just from watching the woman. So he wasn't sure if it sounded good or not.

"I'm telling you, Gener! You can't hurt her! Remember that she's the only key to your curse. If you hurt her, I will never let you take control ever again!" Gray dangerously threatened.

"Don't deny it!" the human said right after Gray's words.

So Gener ignored his wolf again as he focused all his attention on the woman in front of him.

"I'm obviously naked, yet you still dared to sandwich me with that rock! Wanna feel my body? Well, dream on! I'm not that easy! I will punch you if you dare!" she added, trying to threaten him like Gray did.

"Cute," Gener said in his mind, which, of course, was heard by Gray, who realized that his other self was not listening to him.

"Fucking idiot! Don't act like some stupid pervert in front of our mate! Shameless!" Gray started raining curses while hammering inside.

And Gener ignored him again. He couldn't deny his attraction to their human mate. Seeing her cute reaction, Gener wanted to tease her more.

"For a human like you, you're more crazy than those she-male bears," Gener commented. "So what if you're naked? That's already a normal view to me. And I am naked too, yet I did not call you a pervert when you gawked at my body a few moments ago," he added, teasing her more.

Gener had no idea what had really gotten to him. He wasn't like this—shameless and brazen. He is an indifferent fool and a straightforward man with an unsmiling face. So he's clueless about where those blatant and immodest words and thoughts came from.

He could only blame them all on his wolf, who is as ignorant and oblivious as he is.

The woman exaggeratedly gasped. It seems like she did not like what he said, to the point that she showed more of herself out of the water. She frowned at him in displeasure as she pointed her finger in front of him.

"Excuse me! I did not! It was my reflex to look at my enemy, but I was not gawking at y-your not-so-hot body!" she said, full of uncertainty.

Unfortunately for the woman, however loud and clear her words were, Gener acted like he did not hear them. Well, he really did not hear it, as all his attention was now on the exposed breasts dangling in front of him.

It was not that big, like those oversized cups that he usually played with. The size was in between sizes B and C—not too small and not big enough. But even so, he could feel his body react even without touching it. Unlike before, where he needed to play with them for a while before he got aroused, this time he could get hard just by looking at them.

"Kyaa! Pervert!"

His wandering eyes returned when he heard her earth-shaking scream. She splashed him with water before retreating as fast and far as she could.

Gener wanted to punch himself awake. Because even the way the woman retreats looks so cute in his eyes. Now, he couldn't even deny her words, as he himself felt like a real pervert. If his men could see him right now, he could already see them laughing at him.

He growled, not for the woman but to pacify himself. He needed to toughen himself, his will, and his growing hormones. He knew he shouldn't be acting like some perverted fool just because she's his mate. Not when the so-called mate is a human, which he detests the most.

Gener told himself repeatedly, like a mantra, that the mate is a human, so he should act disappointed and angry. He repeated it many times until he felt the heat in his body cool down. That's only when he looked at the woman again with his usual indifference.

"It's not my fault. It was you who was throwing yourself at me, seducing me. Are you a prostitute prepared by your alpha to test and welcome me? Why did they even prepare a human with small tits to seduce me? Is your alpha trying to belittle me?" Gener asked coldly.

That earned another exaggerated gasp from her. Her face turned red in anger. Although she was more careful now, she only showed her head while pointing at the man.

"How dare you call me a prostitute! Insolent! For your information, this part is private property of the alpha and you're trespassing! And I am not a prostitute! And even if I am, I would never agree to serve a perverted bastard like you!" she rambled on and on.

Gener's eyes darkened with what he heard. He did not like how his mate wanted to serve others rather than him. He was about to come to the woman again when Gray stopped him.

"Don't take her words seriously. It's your fault anyway! Why did you even think she's like those wanton women you touched before? She's clearly different! She's our mate! Stop ruining everything or you will never get cured!"

That finally calmed Gener down. Gray was right. He shouldn't have acted without thinking, especially now that his body was at stake. Although he could still feel the irritation and annoyance, he could now control it.

He scoffed and turned away from the woman. He swam towards the other side of the lake and left the surface of the water stark naked. Without looking back, Gener walked towards the big rock, took the woman's clothes, and walked over to the other side without speaking. And the woman watched his actions silently.

"Come on, get changed. Then bring me to your alpha. You don't want to keep your alpha waiting, do you?" Gener said calmly, glancing at the woman.

"So you're a man of that bastard king. Well, it's really birds of the same feather. The king is a bastard and so are his men," the woman snided, staring back at Gener.

Gener silently clenched his fists and teeth and turned away instead of retorting back. The woman is really too much for him. Not only did she not know who he was, but she even chided him in front of his face.

"Heh, serve you just right!" Gray chimed in like it didn't bounce back to him adding salt to their wound.

"Just get dressed. I will give you five minutes, and whether you're done or not, I will take you with me to meet your alpha," Gener warned before walking away to give the woman some privacy.
