Boom! Boom! Boom!
Loud explosions echoed from all directions simultaneously. The castle, guarded by large ballistae and cannons, continued firing at the sky.
"What is happening?!"
"Three adult dragons are approaching. We estimate more are on their way, so we will keep them at bay to maintain better control of the battle."
Haldor mounted his dragon, who soon flapped his wings to protect the rear of the castle. "Calm down, Azazel; we won't attack unless necessary."
The intention was to keep the dragons out, killing them if necessary, as there was no reason other than an attack for those dragons to be flying over their camps.
As Haldor rose above the rear of the camp and castle, he could see more clearly how the attacks from the armored bears had impacted the dragons.
A long distance separated the dragons and the armored bears, yet they had been hit several times. These continuous attacks persisted until the dragons disappeared from the sky.
Haldor had no intention of pursuing them. After all, they were not here to fight a war but to organize one against common enemies.
It is said that whoever sits on the Iron Throne is a protector and guardian. Haldor hoped that this king understood the future priorities of the Seven Kingdoms.
The defenses installed in this territory were to deter dragons. Only now have they ruled out any other attacks in the coming days.
...
King's Landing, War Council
"We have reports that Prince Daemon, on a reconnaissance mission with the Sea Snake and Princess Rhaenys, was attacked with dragon-killing weapons, and their respective dragons suffered severe injuries that would incapacitate them for future battles."
Otto Hightower furrowed his brows upon hearing how three adult dragons had been injured by this unknown enemy. "The enemy did not continue their attack, confirming what was mentioned in the letter. I recommend an immediate response before they draw their own conclusions."
"Where is my brother?" Viserys could not believe that his imprudent brother had fallen into the enemy's traps, knowing they had experience facing dragons.
"He is with the imperial fleet."
"Send a raven; tell him I will meet with the invaders at a location where our fleet has the advantage in case of combat, but under no circumstances will we be the first to attack."
Otto quickly said, "The enemy attacked first. I recommend being more cautious with them, as we do not know their intentions."
"But they didn't kill anyone. The reports say they took the territory without spilling a single drop of enemy blood, and it's said they let the guards of that territory go." Someone else in the meeting contradicted Otto's words and suggested being tougher on the invaders.
"So you intend for the protector of the Seven Kingdoms to do nothing when an unknown enemy claims lands that do not belong to them?"
"I am suggesting we be more prudent with our words, which can spark a war at any moment."
Otto glared furiously at that council member and said, "The war began when those northerners invaded the Seven Kingdoms' territory. We should not be so soft with the enemy."
"If they wanted a war, they would have invaded other territories already. But no blood has been shed in the Seven Kingdoms until Prince Daemon decided to take dragons to their camp."
"Silence, I will not allow this discussion to go any further." Viserys, who had been silent, slammed the table at such a disgraceful argument.
"My apologies, Your Majesty."
"There are many things you do not understand, nor does my brother. So do as I command and do not mention more wars than you want to experience in this life." Viserys was harsh with his words.
After discussing other matters related to the invasion, Viserys remained silent, reading a letter that detailed Aegon's dream, which involved the Rhoynar.
"Darkness threatens the Seven Kingdoms; the signs have shown. Now it is up to me to decide if we win or lose."
