Moving into the large arena he had previously dug from the stone walls that he called his home, Skuggir started to think about how to steal the powers of the eclipse.
The eclipse is a phenomenon that happens when the sun's rays are blocked by a moon. but many civilizations called it the demon moon, the sun of God's retribution, or something that projected the dread they felt from its arrival.
the eclipse strengthens darker elements and amplifies the laws that govern death, shadows, darkness, suppression, thievery, and many other laws that empower monsters and nefarious individuals.
While the eclipse lasted only a short time,d at most a day, its effects lasted long after its passing. The power and insight gained were etched into monsters and humans alike.
Drawing a large magic circle on the ground, Skuggir thought about what to write first. He wanted to call upon the power of the eclipse and take it for himself, but straight-up writing about stealing the power would probably backfire.
Thinking about how to word his taking of power, Skuggir's mind drifted to pieces of literature from his past life. In some stories he had read to entertain himself, powerful people would have even stronger beings as their subordinates or the big bad evil guy would actually be really weak and just hide behind a horde of loyal and powerful meat bags.
getting to this point Skuggir had an epiphany," Am I the bad guy? No, no, I'm the good guy. I'm helping these people by giving them a home and a job." before quickly dismissing his preposterous epiphany.
Thinking about Skuggir, a group of people from Machina were sitting around a small table — all of them clad in suits and ties — discussing the recent drop-in of a named, and intelligent monster.
a man with a darker tie and golden hair spoke first. "He may be an intelligent being with no hostile intentions so far... But he is still a monster and one with a name at that! We all know monsters grow by killing, thieving, or destroying others' lives or property."
a man across from him with short red hair swept back into spikes, spoke his mind. "He may be a monster but he has shown no hostility and even claims to be the representative of a god. We all know that the only other representative we have ever encountered wiped out portions of Asia after fierce resistance to its demands."
An Asian man in a red suit with a golden tie immediately spoke out. "We all know that the jade king's demands were completely outrageous, and could not have been fulfilled."
"Says you. We never knew what these so-called outrageous conditions were." a woman with blond pigtails retorted with a voice that sounded of nobility and oozed venom and superiority.
Hearing an argument brewing the man with golden hair put an end to it before it started "ENOUGH, we are here to discuss what to do. we also need to figure out what the city dictates as worthy to become the ruler. it is not strength from the legends of King Arthur."
Sid who had remained passive during the whole meeting so far, had a smile spread out on his face. His growing smile didn't go unnoticed by the more observant within the room, but he spoke out before anyone could say anything. "How about we help this skeleton out for a bit, and if it turns out bad then we make sure we have an assurance against him. All in favor raise a hand."
with a creepy smile still plastered across his face, Sid watched as more than half the room, including most of the godly representatives, raised their hands. "good, then that settles it."
The spell had been complete, the words just right. when the time came Skuggir would just have to write out the words while thinking about making the power of the eclipse a power that served him from that point forward.
with his biggest problem out of the way, Skuggir started to Work on his magic casting. he tried to cast faster and imagine the outcomes better. after practicing for an hour straight on just making a spike out of the ground, Skuggir could cast the spell in twelve seconds with a success rate of more than half.
before he could practice another spell though, He felt a large intrusion into his dungeon. something more powerful than should be allowed had entered.
rushing to the front of his home, Skuggir came face to face with a large being. Their figure was clad in white and gold heavy plate armor, and the sword in their hand was thick and blunted.
After the man stared Skuggir down for a moment, he spoke out in an Authoritative voice. "for your crimes against the holy city and the god of light, the pope of light hereby condemns you to death." With his short little dialogue over, the armored man, who could be gathered to be a paladin, attacked Skuggir.
A swing of his blade sent an arc of white light at Skuggir who deftly avoided the attack. immediately getting into action, skuggir started to cast his newly practiced earth spike spell; But every time he stood still to cast it, he would be attackedby the Paladin of Light.
Calling upon his minions to distract the paladin, a group of Eclipse hoplites and archers appeared from the shadows of the dungeon and assaulted the paladin. ready for them, the paladin made a small chant before a burst of light came from him. The burst of light would have blinded monsters who relied on eyesight to see, but the skeletons and Skuggir were not blinded but only staggered by the holy power of the blast.
unfortunately this staggering, allowed the Paladin to swing his blade, creating arcs of light that shattered the bones of many archers and a hoplite. getting tired of the man, Skuggir cast [Solar Flare]. With the activation of the spell, Skuggir took more note of the magic circle that was formed by the skill. the magic circle formed was much more intricate and used symbols alongside the words, with triangles going through the circles and smaller circles between the larger circles!
with the spell quickly forming, the Paladin tried to put a stop to Skuggir's casting, but by the time he was about to land his strike his face met a stream of super-hot plasma.
being blasted back not just from the force of the blast but also his action of kicking the ground to retreat, the paladin'sHelmet was melted off but his face was fine.
stopping for a moment, the remains hoplite formed a wall before SKuggir, giving him the chance to try and cast his new spell once again. As the man charged forward, Skuggirs spell reached completion faster than it ever had before, instead of writing out all the words to the spell, skuggir kept it simple with just two words, Earth spike.
The paladin was once again right before SKuggir his sword bearing down on him with his entire line of hoplites dismantled.
