Chapter 26 - Chapter 26 | Black Bones of Gold

The Paladin's sword came bearing down onto Skuggir with full force, its shining surface giving off a faint mist of white power. This aura it exuded formed a trail behind it, casting. beautiful seen that betrayed the death the blade was trying to inflict.

As the blade descended down unto Skuggir's skull, a spike of earth rapidly extended from the earth, its pointed tip thrusting towards the heart of the Paladin from the front. The spike's path directly blocked the Paladin; He would have to either give up or die trying.

With a will as undying as the light his god represented, the paladin struck Skuggir with full force. With his sword shattering Skuggir's skull, the Paladin's body hang limply from the smooth, bloody, earthen spike.

With his head gone, Skuggir collapsed to the ground, his sense of sight gone, the only thing he could feel was the magi in the air, and an overwhelming sense of dread.

The paladin had struck a killing blow against any normal skeleton, but his luck had run as dry as his heart would within the next few hours. Skuggir was a Lich! A Lich was an immortal being with the only weakness of the phylacteries. Skuggir's phylactery was a small blue orb that floated between his pelvis and rib cage.

with his head missing, Skuggir was practically blind. his body struggled to stand, and he could not navigate anywhere. After a few hours of struggling, Skuggir gave up on finding something other than a cold wall to run into.

With some difficulty, Skuggir sat down in a Lotus position and started to try and feel the only sense he had left. With his Mana sense, Skuggir attempted to feel the world around him.

At first, his usage of this sixth sense was clunky and crude, but after a few minutes, he started to get the hang of it. while Skuggir had been wandering for the past few hours — in circles, unbeknownst to him — he had subconsciously started to connect with his sixth sense. With his usage of this sense coming to be more refined by the minute, Skuggir started to feel the shape of the floor below him, and the walls that surrounded him.

unlike with his sight which automatically filtered out too much information just like that of a human, his mana sense did not. When feeling the world around him with the power of mana, Skuggir could sense every crack, bump, nook, and cranny that the walls had.

Skuggir even felt the corpse of the Long-dead paladin before him, its corpse still impaled through the front and into his entire upper body centered on his heart.

Slowly standing up, Skuggir walked very slowly towards the Paladin, his steps steady and measured as he struggled to cross the distance. the stone floor beneath him felt rough and bumpy under the observation with his mana sense.

when he was before the Paladin's corpse, Skuggir reached out and hoped he would be able to absorb his corpse for himself to heal himself.

When his hand touched the Paladin's corpse, Skuggir heard a System notification, and after some struggle sensed it before him. Now a new problem has arisen... Skuggir couldn't read it without his sight.

If it Is anything related to healing myself, I pick yes. was all Skuggir thought before he felt his bones crawl as if they had suddenly gotten goosebumps!

In stark contrast to his pearly white torso, arms, and legs, Skuggirs's head came back partially as black bone. Only half his face was regenerated with only one eye and half nose, in addition to a giant hole into his hollow skull as a top. Skuggir could now see!

His one eye socket glowed with a golden flame. after regaining his sight, Skuggir went to inspect the remains of the Paladin, but he found no corpse, not even armor. Inspecting his new head and upper spine, Skuggir noticed that his black bones had lines of gold through them. Like marble.

After confirming the condition of his body, Skuggir walked her to the pile of armor and bones that were his Eclipse Hoplites. When Night came, They should all revive, coming back with all their bones intact.

Checking his Balance, which had been growing with the number of adventurers wandering into the dungeon, Skuggir was shocked by his profits. Immediately checking out the [Shop], Skuggir purchased a more traditional guide to magic and some traps that he handed off to the basic Skeltons that would usually be mining.

Sitting in his dungeon's second room, Skuggir started to read the first chapter.

Magical elements and affinities.

Everything in the universe can be broken down into Basic elements. These elements are often seen together or combined in a myriad of ways to produce compound elements. The seven basic elements are Cold, Heat, Earth, Electricity, Toxic, Light, and Darkness. These basic elements are commonly referred to as the basic elements as they are easily understood and are the building blocks of some of the easiest to observe and understand laws, which in turn makes them easy to magically resonate with.

The elements that are seen as more advanced make up the more fundamental laws of the universe that can be impossible to observe without proper instruments and methods. these elements are Spatial, Temporal, Life, Death, and Void.

All the advanced elements have their chapter dedicated to giving a brief introduction later in this book, all except the Void element. The void element is Unique in that it does not Make up any known laws its sole observed effect is to break the laws of the universe. The void is like an ever-present energy that makes the infinitesimally small chances of anything happening whether good or bad happen. it's the energy that makes statistics pointless, and reasonable thought worthless.

Taking a moment, Skuggir's mind wanders to something an old scientist, named Murphy said — "If something can go wrong, it will go wrong."— And realized that whoever wrote this book did not have a law that dictated this behavior and just blamed it on the void element.

Standing up from his little spot, SKuggir went off to inspect the traps his Skeleton workers had been tasked with putting up.
