Within the dungeon's small town, a small mining company had started up. As the surroundings were all stone walls, and to expand their currently growing town further they needed to mine said walls, so they had plenty of work.
the head of the mining company had started his life as a miner for a large-scale mining group that operated in the Light mountain range. his boss at the time would only hand out food as payment for overtime, without any repercussions from higher-ups. with his life on the decline, he left as soon as his contract would allow and joined the Followers of Ormr after Enya helped him out of the tough spot of his life.
now he found himself in a dungeon that was not hostile to invaders and was a sanctuary for him and his fellow followers to catch a break and start anew.
In front of him was a large group of people only measuring twenty or so, each holding a pickaxe in hand. He now had his very own mining company where he swore he would never mistreat his workers, nor would he force them to stay.
Looking out upon the group of miners before him, He started to give directions. "Today is the first big day for us. Today we start our contracted work to gather stone to help build the town hall that will also be a home for the Holy one."
Pausing for a moment, the man clenched his hands before saying, " For our families and continued happiness of god and our loved ones, for the expansion of our homes, and the profit of ourselves, in the words of the holy one... Shoot." With his words, he raised his clenched fist, now a pointed finger, at the wall before them as they all swung together.
within the center of the town, the wooden frame for parts of the large fort that would serve as an inner city large enough to house a thousand people was being laid out, with the town square already standing.
In the town square, a robed figure walked around his bony figure concealed. As Skuggir wandered the small town that had rapidly been mined out and expanded, the stone being used to make homes and sold outside the dungeon for coin, he was approached by Enya.
"Hello, Skuggir! can I help you in any way?" Enya's face looked like a child staring at their idol. She could only pick out Skuggir from the rest because she knew everyone else who had come in with them or joined them since, and he had a certain aura around him.
In a deep bony voice, Skuggir asked, "Enya, how did you know it was me?" Skuggir knew he had left none of his bones exposed. "And no, I don't need any help, I'm just thinking of how I could take the powers of the Eclipse." Surprised by Enya's ability to figure out it was him, Skuggir figured she was trustworthy enough to ask for help on the matter that currently occupied his mind.
After hearing Skuggir's question, Enya thought back on how she had known it was him." You felt, familiar. I just knew it was you. As for taking the powers of the eclipse... I'm afraid I can't help you Skuggir. I don't even know what this eclipse group is, let alone how to take their power."
After talking for a bit more, the two parted ways, and Skuggir found a place to continue reading his newly acquired book.
Chapter 3 - Intent
A word can mean many things. Strength can mean having raw power but can also mean having a strong will or the ability to have a strategic mind. When one is called strong they could be strong for many reasons and their strength could lead to many things. The intent behind a word is just as important as the word being used. Is a mountain strong or sturdy? is it large or expansive? is the sun hot, burning, or both?
when we string words together their meaning becomes more clear, but what if we leave them vague? The spell, Fireball, can either be a burning orb with wild flames or a compact orb that will explode at the slightest touch. in the same way, a spell with only the words "Wind cutter" within your chosen casting method could result in cleaving the winds itself ofmaking a wind that cleaves that stands before you.
Try this exercise now, try to be as vague as possible, and every time you cast the spell, change your intent while writing it out.
Pulling himself from the crate he had been sitting on, Skuggir stood up and started to cast a spell. Draw the circle, draw another circle, and write the words between the two. The two circles effectively trapping the resonance with the laws between them. Skuggir wrote "Earth" between the two circles.
When he completed the spell it activated, and with its activation came a small clump of dirt in a loose sphere made from the ground up stone and dust from the surroundings. the slugger wrote the word earth, he thought of the. dirt that had been under him when he wandered the park back in Machina.
when the spell activated, the elements within the surroundings came together to form a combined structure that loosely resembled the dirt of earth.
Now that he had cast his first spell that would act as his control group in the experiment, Skuggir repeated the process butwhen he wrote out "Earth" this time, Skuggir thought of the hard stone that surrounded him. The stone's smooth and cold surface, its sturdy composition, and how it encompassed the whole dungeon.
with the activation of the spell, the stone around him shook, its abundance, in addition to the simplicity of the spell, caused it to resonate to an extreme. the walls, ceiling, and floor around him all rushed towards him in square-shaped spikes that morphed around objects in their path to great Skuggir, wrapping him like a suit of armor.
Skuggir was now covered in a Cold Smooth cube of Stone, its hard exterior having a bunch of square spikes jutting into its depths. with what little space had had to move, Skuggir wrote reverse while thinking about how the stone was before he cast the spell.
The stone reunited once again, all of it rushing back into place with the fluidity of a liquid, its speed a scary sight for the nearby townsfolk.
seeing he had caused a commotion, Skuggir moved deeper into the dungeon to practice his magic some more.
