I'm sure Kevin was his alias and it wasn't his real and considering how slumped work is, Kenneth wouldn't realize that there was a spy in our midst. Me and my greed took the better of me. Because of my ego and wanting to gain fame money and notoriety, I became a liability to my college and this was a mistake I won't repeat. Bakari was exploiting my weakness all along while playing me like a fiddle. So, I decided to play him back. This is a game of musical chairs and I'm going to have the last seat. I pretended to be clueless and then engaged the cleaner with basic questions, to not raise suspension that I knew I was up to his antics.
"Okay, Kevin I'm just going to ask you a few questions, as it's just standard procedure. Is that okay with you? I asked formally.
"Yes sir, whatever you want sir," Kevin answered.
"Great. First Question, how long have you been a cleaner?
"Five years and 6 months and eight days, sir.
"Okay, how long have you worked for Miss Allegra?
"Two months and two weeks sir.
"Very good, what type of contract did Mrs Allegra give you?"
"It was the standard three-month contract before; they replaced me with another cleaner for a five-year contract. I thought Mrs Allegra informed you of this sir,"
"She might have. Forgive me because my assistant didn't inform me of your services. Why don't you wait in the waiting room for five minutes then I will let you in and do your magic?
"Yes, sir thank you, sir, see you later K man," Kevin casually stated as he stepped out.
"You too Kevinator," Ken replied.
After Kevin left, I gave Kenneth a scolding to sell my disappointment to assume that whoever was listening over on the other end believed that I was indeed disappointed. I then tell Kenneth to come with me to the washrooms that are connected to my office as I lock my office door so that Kevin doesn't peek around. I was also convinced that Kevin was a spy. We entered the washrooms and then I started to look for bugs around the washrooms and also started to look for it under Ken's coat who started to look confused.
"Okay no bugs here, hand me your jacket," I stated
"What? But why," Ken answered
"Just hand it over already." I protested
"Okay then, boss dude don't eat me," Ken stated.
Ken then started to apologise for disappointing me and he started to think that his services were no longer required. Looking at him in those puppy dog eyes considering our height and weight difference just swelled my heart and I almost laughed. We are in the toilet which is not that small but considering the six-foot-three well-built man standing before me, while I a five-foot-nine guy trying to cheer him up just looked like a scene from a comedy spoof.
Ken and I go way back. We were orphans from the same orphanage and we were caught in a terrible toxic environment. The patron of the orphanage was into child slavering and he was selling kids that he picked from the streets of Biranoi. Were we fed like pigs and presented to the rich elites that sort solace in treating kids like their playthings? In the orphanage, Ken was always being bullied because of sometimes slow speech and not picking up tasks quickly. People thought he was stupid, but he was just misunderstood. I was always defending him and tried to show the caretakers at the orphanage that he was way smarter than he looked, but the patron kept abusing Ken and the rest of us even more. Luckily enough a detective named Jafari Kinai and Joe came to the rescue and then thwarted the patron who was arrested and taken to prison. Some of the orphans were taken to a new orphanage while I and Ken got adopted by Jafari together with his wife Alicia Kinai. Sadly, Jafari died when I was sixteen and we stayed with Alicia until her cancer came back the second time. Believe me, she fought hard but the cancer was just too much. It was just the two of us again and I wasn't gonna live Ken alone.
"Look boss dude I'm sorry I disappointed you," Ken sadly stated.
"What? No Kenny, you didn't disappoint me, I was pretending to be mad so that I could get whoever is it that's been listening in to believe it," I protested vehemently.
"Oh, then I didn't mess up then, whew! Yo Boss dude you scared me for a second" Ken sighed with relief.
"Oh no you did mess up, but then again I have been slumming you with so many works, and this is my fault as well," I replied worryingly.
"Don't worry boss dude, I can still do more work," Ken replied gleefully.
"No, you've done enough, we need to change tactics and we need new people on the team," I stated
I then told Kenneth about Kevin being a spy and I knew Kevin was using Ken. I was pissed at myself but I was more pissed at Kevin because now I know how Ken was going to die. I also planned to reduce his contract and get him out of my office. I then communicated with Mrs Allegra who told me that Flora was actually kidnapped and luckily enough she was found by none other than our cool shot cops Michael and Johnson. She then tells me that Flora was so shaken that should couldn't work anymore and was let go. She also stated that she already gave me this information on my email, but I never received any email and I was so focused on Bakari that I didn't pay attention that my mail was compromised. Kevin did a number on me and I also know Kevin is using Ken's naivety to get answers out of him but one thing that Kevin doesn't know is that Kenny made a promise and that he always never breaks the promises he keeps.
