Clarise Wakabi was considered one of the best doctors in the hospital. She was always very active in Biranoi General Hospital and would always care for her patients even when she was treated poorly by some of them. She was the doctor who would always strive for the health of the patients she was taking care of. So, it became a shock to people when she was discovered that she was murdered at the same hospital, even though she had little to no enemies. I had to find out her cause of death and how she was linked to Bakari and the unknowns, but I had to make sure that her life was not threatened and that I had to hide that she could die considering, her death would happen in the next nine months. Though I may fear it might happen much sooner and faster considering the events are changing and moving quite faster.
First, I had to introduce myself differently, not as a private detective but as a patient. I started a fight at the local bar where I knew a known petty criminal nicknamed Crowbar, who was a thief who liked to use a crowbar to treat people to give their belongings. I immediately entered the bar and punched him in the face. Of course, crowbar didn't like that he was just attacked and he responded in kind. We went at each other's throat as I accused him of stealing from me, and Crowbar eagerly answered that he doesn't waste stealing from poor people. He then took out a crowbar and wanted to hit me, but Johnson was nearby and stopped the fight. He arrested Crowbar and then pulled me aside to try and solve the issue.
This is when I told him that I knew they had been tailing Crowbar for a while and that they thought he had a connection to the robbery of an armoured truck that happened last week. I told them that Crowbar wasn't the person they should follow and that they should focus on the security officer who was the only that had minor injuries during the incident.
I remember the case in my past life, as I watched it unfold in the media. The ones that caught the inside man were Johnson and his partner and they were even promoted. It was their promotion that revealed that both were somehow connected to Bakari, I just didn't know or rather wasn't sure what their connection was to Bakari.
"What the hell was that hot shot, Johnson protested, we almost had him until you ruined our operation."
"Li..listen to me, the crowbar is not part of the Lindon heist, it was an inside job," I answered while in pain and exhaustion.
"that's a load of shit, crowbar has been changing his amor and he just robbed a bank five days ago," Johnson answered.
"He stole that money because he needed to pay the medical bills for his sick mother, but you don't care about it," I stated
"Oh, come on Hotshot, you know full well these guys are scum of the earth, since when did they care about their families. They're criminals, it's as simple as that." He answered smugly.
"Look men, if you want to catch the real thief, arrest and interrogate Leon Hasani. He was the inside man in the Lindon heist. Do you want that promotion or not?" I said tentatively.
"Okay, hot shot I will play along. What's the dirt on this guy," he said curiously.
I gave Johnson and his partner their ticket to police fame on a silver platter and I needed to do that to get to who was in Bakari's pocket. The police station is very protective of their own, and their brotherhood mentality is one of the reasons among many why I opt out of the force.
After I gave out the information, I then went to the hospital to meet with Clarise as a patient. I had mapped out her schedule so I knew she would be less busy with other patients. Also considering it wasn't the holidays which are always full of havoc in Biranoi with patients coming in flocs, I knew I could get a chance to talk to her. And even if another doctor came, I would just insist that she be my doctor instead. When I arrived, I got to see her for a long time, and I was really happy. We had formed a brother and sister bond due to our interest in our hobbies.
I was overjoyed yet saddened that tears rolled on my chicks and I hadn't even noticed. She came after hearing my plea to see her and immediately started to treat me after noticing that I was crying. She thought I was in pain from the beating I got from the crowbar.
"Sir are you okay, are you in a lot of pain," She stated softly.
"I..I..uhm…no I don't feel that much pain, sorry my name is Akida Kinai," I answered confusingly.
"Okay Mr Kinai, I'm gonna apply a little bit of pressure to your arm and see if anything is broken. If you feel any discomfort, just tell me, alright? Is that okay?" She answered softly.
She continued to treat me and then later had me do an X-ray to see if there was any further damage. Luckily there was no damage and I knew there wasn't because I was meticulous about the crowbar and his attack pattern. I knew how he attacked and where he would direct his attraction to my body. After the examination, Clarise was curious as to how I knew about her. I stated that people knew about her how he takes care of his patients, and how I wanted the same treatment.
She then gave me the necessary medicines and told me to take care and rest for a while. That's when I decided to come clean, or rather give her the version of a story that I crafted. I told her that I was her sister's private detective and that she was in trouble and needed her support. Clarise then shuts me down and then starts to confront me thinking that Lisa sent me. According to Lisa, she and Clarise have been apart for a while due to them being separated after their parents' divorce. Clarise blames her mother, because she had an affair with another person, while Lisa blames her father because he has always been unfaithful considering he was always travelling for business. Clarise supports his father because he sees her father as a hero and even though her father left for months, she still waits for her father. While Lisa though was disheartened by her mother's infidelity, she still went to live with her mother.
Clarise being the older one, decided to leave on her own and continued to build her career which grew after he met his husband, Jack Jones. They were supposed to meet and start the reconciliation process a month from now, but they haven't considering Lisa had a litigation case pending and she slummed with work. To try and quickly force them to be together. I decided to tell Clarise about the unknowns. This rang a bell to Clarise because she found a document that her husband was hiding that had to do with the unknowns. She then took me to her office to discuss further.
Immediately when I entered, I started to check for bugs but there were none, which was strange to me, but I still had to be vigilant.
"Let me introduce myself, my name is Akida Kinai and I'm a private investigator,"
"How do you know about unknowns? Does Lisa Know about the unknowns? Who are these unknowns anyway?" She stated quietly.
"One step at a time Mrs Wakabi," I stated trying to stop her rapid-fire questions.
"It's Mrs Jones, I'm married," she replied happily.
"Congratulations Mrs jones," I replied
"And to answer your questions, Yes Lisa knowns about the unknowns, at least in a superficial sense, and the unknowns are sort of a secret society criminal group led by a man named Bakari and I knew about the unknowns since I was a detective at the police,"
"I found out about the unknowns from my husband, who I thought was having an affair but it turns out, he is involved in something much worse," she replied remorsefully/
"Mrs Jones let's not be rushed, just walk me through everything that happened," I stated eagerly awaiting her answer.
She then explains everything about how she noticed her husband acting suspiciously and trying to hide the documents. She trusts that her husband is not a criminal but she also understands that people can sometimes take advantage of his inability to stand up for himself. After she explained her story, I started to try and connect the dots. It's possible Mr jones was threatened and couldn't tell her for her safety. I then told Clarise to contact her sister to reconcile with her and that they need each other in these tough times.
