After six months of catching half of Bakari's associates, I decided to take a break from the Bakari case and focus on other things. That's when I met Lisa at a resort in the coastal city of Taj, in Fanaka County. This is the time when we started to fall for each other and boy did I fall hard. We started first as a casual interaction and we found that we had a lot in common. We had to start to talk about our loss of loved ones and how we missed them. Lisa then proposed that I leave the Bakari case and that I should consider moving on.
"Akida, look I know this may be sudden but it's been three weeks since we have been together, and I would like to stop the Bakari investigations," said Plead.
"But why, I think I'm getting close to her, and I could finally get justice for Mr Frank Wakabi," I answered.
"I...I just don't want you to get hurt, I can see it's taking a toll on you. Please for my sake stop the case. From this day henceforth, I'm terminating my contract with you on the Bakari case,"
I wanted to put an end to the case but at the same time, I understood why she wanted me out of it. She lost a lot of friends and family because of it and is worried I might lose my life.
"Okay, from here on out the case is officially closed," I confidently remarked.
We then returned to Bironai and officially began our relationship. Thought in secret to not raise alarm considering Lisa's social standings. After two years I was continuing my usual detective work, and I had just closed the case of a jewel thief who stole from a very rich businessman who worked with Mr Frank on an architectural project for a new six-star hotel. His name was Mr Elim Cruz and his wife's ruby necklace was the one that was robbed. Just then Lisa came with news that her sister was murdered by Bakari. And the way she died was exactly similar to how Frank died.
This is when life began to turn sideways for me because I devoted the next three years to finding Bakari and putting an end to it and Lisa, beautiful Lisa died because of Bakari but just like Frank's case, it was self-inflicted.
I went into a downward spiral of alcoholism and after a month, Joe had enough of my self-loathing and decided to help and took me to rehab. I tried, believe I tried to move on but the pain was way too much for me to handle. I had a sit down with Joe and he finally told me why he quit the service.
"It's time I told you why I left the force, Akida," he remarked.
"No Joe I don't Wanna it, frankly I'm tired of the many sad stories at the AA meetings, I heard at rehab, I stated frustratedly.
"It's about Bakari," Joe stated.
I quickly sobered up from my sadness and readily paid attention to what he wanted to tell me. And the story was sadder and more frustrating. Just like me, Joe was religiously following a Bakari case and was trying to stop Bakari from buying a shipment of drugs that was arriving at Biranoi land ports. It was going to be the biggest raid in the city's history, but all that went to the gutter when they arrived, the container was empty. They then found one of Bakari's men who started firing his gun at Joe and he shot Maria, Joe's partner in profession and life. She died upon arrival at the hospital. Joe then went on a revenge mission busting every drug joint in the slums and was suspended and later fired after conducting a job off duty. After telling all this Joe then encouraged me to not give up and find Bakari. He then left me home alone and got me thinking. The next day I decided to clean my house which was a heap of a dump site. While arranging staff that's when I came across Lisa's belongings and then I found a purple pendent that was supposed to be a good luck charm. With anger, I threw it away as I dropped on my knees crying myself out until I got tired and slept.
All of a sudden am awake but not at my house but at the office. That's when Ken comes rushing in and tells me I have thirty minutes to prepare to meet with Lisa Wakabi considering she is a very big client that will help the finances.
"Dude, you're still taking your micro naps, The meeting starts in the next 30mins get ready," Ken stated.
I was so shocked I couldn't believe my eyes. I quickly left my chair and hugged him as Ken was shocked by my actions.
"Yo dude you cool, you look like you've seen a ghost," Ken exclaimed.
"oh... I'm sorry about that, I'm mm you were saying something about meeting someone," I responded.
"Yeah men, remember Mrs Wakabi the widow, she just called, she said she wants to meet at Crown Jewels," Ken remarked.
"Okay give me ten minutes to prepare."
I started to ponder what was going on in my surroundings as I gathered my thoughts and That's when it hit me, I just travelled back in time seven years before. So, I decided to make a vow, I'm going to stop Bakari and take down everyone involved but to do that I'm gonna need power resources and a lot of people to help me take him down.
