Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO: THE SECOND HOUR

Following her case, I thought to myself, option A I could take the case and the large sum of money she had, and even though I will be chasing a ghost, I still have a down payment, or second option, I could just drop the case and tell her it will be best to just leave the case as it was, and that it was self-inflicted. Of course, heard I knew that the case would take a downward spiral I would have decided to take the case seriously rather than delay the case for months before realizing the case was quite deadly. And the case files on Bakari were complex and considering I was good at solving puzzles, this was going to be a challenge for me.

"So Mr Akida will you take the case," She softly stated

"Uhm…I'm not sure about this case Mrs Wakabi," I answered

"Please just call Me Lisa, Mr Wakabi has passed and I want justice for him. if it's not possible then I will just find someone else." She remarked

Before she left, I just didn't want to see her sad face and it made me feel guilty. So, option A it was. What I didn't realise at this time, was that my neglect of wasting time and not following through with the case would have been this difficult.

"Wait Mrs Wakabi. Sorry I mean Lisa, I'm sure I can help with the case." I hesitantly answered.

She smiled when she heard my answer and I was so fully ensured by her smile that my brain just started malfunctioning as a smiled back.

Back at my office, looking at Bakari's case, that's when I discovered another urban legend known as the Unknows and oh boy did they follow their name to the latter. Bakari was part of this supposed group and they stick to their material, I mean these guys are unknown. No bank records, no credit card records, no phone records nothing, oh by the way I'm still reading the file, the dirt just keeps on piling and piling every time I turn the pages it's like I'm reading a fictional novel.

The next day I decided to stop by my old friend's house who was a detective named Joseph Kasim and decided to quit the force abruptly no one knew why even the captain had no clue whatsoever. I visited him to ask him about the Bakari case and he went ballistic and told me not to take the case which was already too late. If only I had known that the following events would have occurred then I wouldn't be in the position, I'm in right now.

''Don't take the case!" Joe shouted angrily

''But I already did," I replied softly.

Joe was the best detective in the county and he taught me a lot of stuff. His not helping me made me confused but also curious as to why he didn't want me to pursue the case. And I left his home now even more doubtful about pursuing the case. I started coming up with clues on how they operate on their crimes and then weaving out a more compelling and satisfying answer for Lisa. Of course, I had help from my assistant Ken Omari who I must say is a good sleuth, especially when he wants to find something or someone, He will get it.

We started planning for the next phase of the investigation. We started asking questions from guys across the streets along with our info broker to find out more about the case. Some cooperated while others did not so much. But after not taking the cases that seriously and focusing on the usual easy-paying jobs, I got the call that my assistant Ken had been killed. That's when after nine months of fooling around, I took the case to heart.
