"La, where did Sebastian go? Humans are so morons that they can forget directions so easily. Tch! "
"We never forget our way, no matter how far we go. " He mocked Sebastian.
Eros stared at him and adjusted his earbuds, as he was tired of his chatting. Or He didn't feel the urge to kill him. Furthermore, Eros wondered how this mushroom knew such complicated words. Someone must have taught him about other worldly knowledge.
As he was going to mention that, the mushroom floated and landed on Klaus' neck. He liked his soft fur and sitting on his back. Eros's irregular heartbeat bothered him as if it weren't natural. Nothing was normal about the evil lord, though.
Mir's eyes went to the red tree and snuggled into Klaus' body in distressed.
An hour had slipped by, yet there was still no sign of Sebastian. His compass might be giving the wrong direction, as he always ended where he started. Perhaps the magnetic force was so intense that the compass was rigged.
"Klaus, can you find Sebastian for me?" He asked as he left, with no option left.
Klaus purred loudly, showing his indifference, as he was in no mood to help.
"I wonder who the owner is." Eros muttered under his breath and started observing the place.
The soil was extremely moist, and cobwebs clung to every branch. Countless insects were trapped in the webs; a red wood ant's head was wrapped in one, a testament to the spiders' presence. It felt like they had stumbled into a village of spiders. Though spiders were generally friendly, feasting on other insects. Their behaviour varied, becoming either aggressive or docile depending on their role.
As he was about to scan further, he sensed pure M2 magic present here. Eros was thrilled and wanted to taste this divine energy. Despite knowing the risk, he wanted to feel pure magic in his body. Being a magus, this must help him to level up soon.
There was a possibility that someone was behind it and would try to kill him in the process. Amateur magus who came here for pure M2 energy were entrapped by such a trick and killed.
Eros felt conflicted about whether he should explore the pure M2 magic energy or not. He gave a quick glance at the red tree and touched the bark.
He shivered as the pure energy overwhelmed him completely. He made up his mind. The evil lord would think of potential danger later, as he was willing to take a gamble.
"We will rest here for five minutes. " Eros announced this and put his bags on the land.
Mir, who normally questioned his judgement, didn't say anything.
Eros took out a few things from his bag: a mat, a sand clock, and incense to repel mosquitoes.
Being a clean freak and having everything in place, he prepared everything beforehand. He sat beside the red tree, then burned incense through a litre.
No, Eros didn't smoke, as he was aware of the hazards of smoking. In fact, a packet of cigarettes costs 10 pisa.
The incense's subtle flavour burst into his nose, giving him serenity.
He was upside down on the sand clock; his eyes were shut as he crossed his leg. Pure M2 energy hit his body as if he touched a wave over his feet.
He concentrated on M2 energy, which was gentle like a wave approaching shore. The wave was shimmering under the sunlight, and serenity was in his mind. He forgot everything that worried him—his wish to become a father, when Veronica woke up, etc.
He decided to observe a little more.
As he channelled pure energy, his heartbeat started racing faster than usual. The wave of energy was going up, and up and down which is important for balance.
The small wave was turning into a big wave, and he was surrounded by water.
Despite that, his body was observing a lot, as if he were an alcoholic who never stopped drinking after one bottle.
"This is for you. ! Magnificent. " The whispers of a devil echoed into Eros' mind.
The energy started gathering around him as he was thrilled to feast on it. He regenerated by taking this.
But soon he realised it: the pure energy was not mellow but rather chaos. There was no equilibrium, or he felt sudden elation to steal everything in one way. His soul, which controlled how much M2 magic he could gain, was lost.
So, M2 energy is going everywhere with no direction. It was like a giant wave, drowning him in the depths of the sea. He was struggling to reach the surface of the sea and drowned again.
He was choking, and he didn't have the will to live anymore. He quitted.
This was what happened when amateur magus observed pure M2 energy. They didn't know how to channel this. The more levelled up they got, the more they could balance it. Equilibrium was the key to controlling M2 energy and then converting it into M2 magic.
Sadly, Eros was an amateur-level magus, not a nova. For him, M2 energy was nothing but poison. In spite of being one of the top 10 strongest mutants in the world, his soul wasn't strong enough to utilise this.
Suddenly, he felt pangs, which convulsed his whole body. His eyes slightly opened as he gazed at a red thing floating around the water.
Red! The liquid density was thicker than that of water.
Everything flashed over his mind—him being homeschooled because of his curse. Her mother turned into a zombie. And he hunted hundreds of magus due to that.
No, he would not give up easily. He must fight until his last breath.
"Baby, your daddy is not a limp." He said it. Eros channelled all his hatred and discrimination and swam to the surface.
It didn't matter to him what was going to happen next. Just like that, he should not only utilise his energy but also discharge it. So he could not be allured by this energy.
When Eros opened his eyes, he was panting. His chest felt heavy, and then he noticed crimson blood was oozing out of his wrist.
His face turned pale, and he looked at Klaus, who was lying motionlessly.
"Klaus! No. No. " Eros yelled in disbelief.
Why did this foolish feline bite him? He must be dreaming, nothing else.
Observing the blood smearing over his mouth, he thumped his hand on the mat.
"Why? Why did you do that you idiot? "
Mir muttered in a concerned voice. "We tried to wake you up, but you didn't respond. So Klaus bit hastily and didn't think of consequences. "
"He said that you are his master. " Mir voice was extremely calm in this situation.
Animals were more sensitive to M2 energy compared to mutants. Klaus might have sensed pure energy was hurting his owner, so he risked himself to wake him up.
We all knew what would happen if someone touched Eros directly. He would perish.
He crawled towards his fatty cat, who was lying down unconsciously.
"Klaus! " He exclaimed with sorrowful eyes.
