Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Truth of potion (2)

Eros picked up the call. "Mcflan, sorry, your request for days off is cancelled. Thousands of zombies were made through a certain potion. "

"Potion? "

His friend, in the end, said it solemnly."Yeah! A group of magus sold out many potions that promised they would treat anyone or any disease. Nobody tested whether they were telling the truth or not. Sadly, the majority of hunters are in a worse state."

"That's rubbish! I have seen the miracle effects of potions. It can't be true. " He uttered it in a confused manner, unable to grasp it.

"They deceived us. The side effects of the potion are hazardous. All the hunters who recovered from it turned into zombies. Some also lost their minds. Eros, they deceived us for little money. The North Magus association lied to us. "

He quickly hung up the call and dashed forward to the living area. As he looked at his mother, he sighed in relief.

"Mom, are you okay? "

She turned around, and her contagious smile that cheered everyone up was gone. Her emerald eyes gleam with a feral intensity, as though a demon had emerged from the depths of the earth.

Watching that, Eros retreated to his feet in fear. "Mom, everything is fine."

Sheryl Mcflan, her mother, mumbled in a gruff voice. " Son, I am fine. Why did you not go to the market? "

Eros' face turned sombre, and he bit his lips in absolute horror. A minute ago, he was cooking for her. How could she forget it? He didn't believe this. For a moment, time had stopped for him. He should have given her a potion. The guilt was rotting his rationality.

Although he had to calm down or things would be more heartbreaking, taking a deep breath, he got closer to her mom.

"Mom, you forgot that I was cooking something special for you."

"Yeah! So what did you make from me?" Sheila asked softly.

"Lemme bring it for you."

Inside, Eros was completely shattered, unable to perceive this. He ran to his room and started looking for an artefact. It was a tool that identified the zombies. The majority of zombies transformed into humans as they metamorphosed later. So some affinity for mutants might be detected through Zombies Al Metre.

It was a long rod where two metal branches were elongated, and two gems were placed inside of it. It also had a compass to direct towards the zombies.

Eros finally found it, as it was hidden under the bed. He picked up with despair. He had never once thought that one day he would have to use it on his family. He clenched the tool as his feet were numbed.

Zombies Al Metre produced beep and beep sounds, with its arrow pointing in the east direction. He viewed it with trembling hands.

Meanwhile, Sheila was starting to sweat profusely. Her vision blurred while a metallic scent of blood burst into her nose. Unlike Eros, she was an ordinary human.

She thought of having raw meat—something new to her. The hunger took over her lucidity, and her eyes were cast at a salmon. She vigorously grabbed it. Taking a piece of meat, she felt a cloud of nine. She took another bite of it.

It was finger lickish; she licked her upper lips in an uncivilised way.

When she grasped her lucidity, her limbs trembled in apprehension. How could she eat raw fish with all the bacteria?

"This wasn't me. I didn't like raw fish. No, no! " She cried for help. "Andřes. Eros! "

Her skin was changing; many freckles were spotted on her body. The delicate fingers changed to black. She watched in disbelief. Her straight nose croaked, and her lips were blackened.

"No no! " Sheila's tears were oozing out of her eyes. But the idea of devouring raw flesh was getting stronger and stronger. Raw fish didn't satisfy her need. Slowly, she turned into a half zombie, half human, where her skin was dirty green and her eyes were yellow.

"Hehe. Food! Food. "

When Eros came over, Sheila looked extremely hideous, and her lips uttered one word continuously. "Meat. Meat Meat. Meat! "

For a second, he was baffled; his eyes were moist from experiencing it.

"Ohh sh*t. Moooomm!" He screeched on top of his lungs. He had to keep his sanity, or she would be lost forever. No! He could not afford that.

Eros swiftly grabbed her mother's hand and dragged her in couch, then tied her with a tie.

"Mom, I am sorry." This was the first time he had done an atrocious thing to her. Deep down, he was ashamed of it.

He was apologising to her continuously. "Mom, I am sorry. Just be calm, please."

His father, Andres Mcflan, entered with a huge gift. It was for his lovely wife, and he dropped it in terror.

His cheerful expression changed to hostility. "Bastard, what are you doing?"

He dashed forward and grabbed his son's arm. Then he started slapping his shoulder violently.

"Dad! Mom. is. not. well. " He cried aloud and was unable to keep a straight face.

After that, Eros explained everything in a meticulous manner. Why was Sheila behaving like that? How could she recover from this monstrosity ? And who was the culprit?

"What happened next? " A cutesy voice echoed in Eros' head, which interrupted him again.

He glared at Sebastian with menacing eyes. This was the second time someone cut him off in the middle of a sentence.

He objected in a lower voice. "I didn't say anything. I swear. "

"I am curious, Eros, what happened next." The unknown voice said it with enthusiasm.

He looked around but found nothing.

"Look down, idiot." Suddenly, a mushroom was walking, and he jumped into his pants. "Why are humans so stupid, la? "

Both men opened their mouths in bewilderment. He was the same mushroom that Klaus had eaten up. He should have been dead.

Sébastien spoke in an astounding tone. "You are alive? "

"Or whom are you talking about? A ghost." The boy mushroom answered arrogantly.

Seeing their disbelieving gaze, he said it proudly. " I was just playing with a cat. I never thought it would been escalated so much. "

The little mushroom, Mir, gazed at Eros with curious eyes. "So your mother died or became a zombie?""

Eros grabbed Mir. "You clown! Because of you, I suffered from that illusion magic." He spin the mushrooms round and round till he stopped chattering.

Mir's fell to the ground, yet the child had an ocean of interest in knowing the truth.

"Eros, la. Tell me what happened to your mother. Tell us. "

Eros laughed in a very odd way. A couple of people were interested in hearing this.

He shut his eyes once and then opened them. "She died. Being a zombie was something she couldn't handle. Her mind started to degenerate day by day."

"She killed herself. "

Silence.

"Dad and I tried multiple approaches to treat her. It was all worthless. But my brave mother decided to take things into her own hands. She was by far the best human I know. Proud yet beautiful. Strong, kind, and generous."

Eros gazed up at the sky and grinned wickedly.

He muttered under his breath. "I have killed all Magus who were responsible for my mother's death. And I vowed I would never ask for help from a healer. "

Sébastien, petrified by his fuming eyes, mumbled. "What happened to the girl who gave you medicine?"
