Chapter 25 - Remember Darling

Dr. Murray smiled reassuringly. "We'll do our best to ensure you're in the best possible health for that journey. Today, we'll start with a detailed echocardiogram and some blood tests. Depending on the results, we might need to explore further options or treatments, sound good?"

As Rose lay down for the echocardiogram, she found Dr. Murray's calm and professional demeanour. The rhythmic sound of her heartbeat filled the room.

"Whatever the outcome, Rose, know that we'll find a way forward," I said, my voice was gentle but firm. "You're not alone in this. After the check-up, I looked up to Rose. The report will be available in a week, so we will contact you after the results come back, I wish you all well with your fiancé.

Rose smiled warmly and nodded, her eyes reflecting both relief and anticipation. "Thank you, Doctor," she said softly. Before she left,

Days past

While out shopping with Mandy, I mentioned to her that Junior invited me to his father's birthday this Saturday. You, my friend, are my date for the night! Oh my goodness, Rain, do you realize that Lee's birthday bash is going to be the event of the century? I am truly honored.

Mandy's eyes sparkled with excitement as she grasped my hands. "Rain, this is amazing! We need to find the perfect outfits for the occasion. I heard that Lee's parties are legendary—great music, fantastic food, and the most interesting people."

I laughed, feeling the contagious enthusiasm spreading between us. "You're right, Mandy. Let's make this an unforgettable night. How about we start with a little dress shopping?"

She grinned widely, nodding. "Absolutely! I know just the place. They have the most stunning dresses, perfect for a night like this."

We spent the afternoon trying on gowns, giggling like schoolgirls, and imagining the evening ahead. Each dress seemed more beautiful than the last, and by the time we found 'the one,' we were both glowing with anticipation.

While Mandy and I were trying out gowns for the birthday gala, Rose and her mother came in.

"Dr. Murray, what a nice surprise," I posed. "Oh yes, Miss Jung, how do you do?"

"I am well, good. Let me introduce you. This is my mom."

"Oh, pleasure meeting you, doctor. I heard wonderful news from my daughter."

"Oh, thank you so much. This is my dear friend, Lucy," introducing her to the duo.

"Nice meeting you," Rose said. "I see you guys are shopping. What's the occasion?"

"Oh well, a birthday gala, I presume."

"That's wonderful. My fiancé's father's birthday is also this weekend."

"Well, we wish him a happy birthday."

We'll continue shopping. We won't disturb you.

Is that her?

Yes, Mom.

I need to make sure she finds out I am Junior's fiancée and leaves to wherever she comes from. She doesn't belong here.

Her mother pursed her lips, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Remember, darling, we must handle this delicately. We don't want to cause a scene."

The Rose nodded, her determination unwavering. "I understand, Mom. Soon don't worry. She needs to know her place."

As they wandered through the boutique, the mother glanced at her daughter, a mixture of pride and concern in her eyes.
