[at Rose's place]
There is an incoming call from the hospital for Miss Jung. They would like to inform you that the results are ready. Please make time tomorrow to review them.
Cool, now change some diagnoses and make sure it's the last blow to Rain. The report must state I have a healthy heart but my unborn baby is fragile.
on it ma'am
Days passed by, I have to move on.
I arrive at work. Though I try so hard to act happy, deep down I was torn. I continued with my daily routine, doing follow-up with my patients. Each smile I offered felt like a mask, concealing the turbulence within. My colleagues noticed my quiet demeanor.
, as I was finishing up my rounds, a young patient named kira, with her bright eyes and infectious laughter, asked me a simple yet poignant question: "Why do you look sad sometimes, Doctor?"
Taken aback, I paused. Her innocence and honesty struck a chord deep within me. "Sometimes, even grown-ups feel a little sad," I replied gently, "but it's important to remember that it's okay to feel that way, and to talk about it when you're ready."
Lily nodded thoughtfully, then handed me a drawing she had been working on. It was a picture of a sunny day with people smiling and flowers blooming. "This is for you," she said with a beaming smile, "to make you feel happy."
In that moment, it hit me. I looked up to not let my tears fall. Thank you, Kira, trying so hard to smile.
Dr. Murray, Miss Jung is waiting for you in your office, and I placed the report on your desk. My heart raced as I responded, "Thank you, nurse." I bid farewell to Kira and made my way to my office.
I entered my office and greeted Miss Jung.
"I am well. How about you, Doc?"
"Not too bad. Let's see what the report says about your heart," I replied as I examined the heart report.
Miss Jung leaned forward with a curious expression, her eyes betraying a hint of anxiety. I gave her a reassuring smile before looking at the data on the screen.
"Good news," I began, "your heart looks quite strong. There are a few areas we need to monitor, but overall, you're doing well."
She exhaled a sigh of relief, her shoulders visibly relaxing. "That's a weight off my mind. I've been so worried lately."
"I understand," I said, nodding. "It's important to stay vigilant, but also to remember that stress can impact your heart too. Let's talk about some lifestyle changes that could help keep you healthy."
I kept skimming through the report, and suddenly, my heart sank, my body went numb, and I held my breath for a moment.
Miss Jung called my name, "Doc, what's wrong? Is something the matter?"
