[hospital scene]
I recently visited the young boy we performed surgery on a few days ago to monitor his recovery. It's wonderful to see that he is progressing well and everything seems to be on track. Worried about his family, I asked the nurses at the station if any of his relatives had come to visit him. They all confirmed, and one nurse mentioned that both of his parents had sadly passed away in an accident. We are currently attempting to contact his mother's sister without any luck. Please keep me updated on any developments. He is truly a resilient individual to have survived such a tragic event.
i Left the ward and headed to Mandy's office, passing by the coffee shop across from the hospital. I purchased two lattes with cupcakes before making my way to her office.
Rain: [knocking and entering, presented the lattes and cupcakes while sitting down] Hey, where did you disappear to, girlfriend?
Mandy: [excitedly getting up from her office chair and sitting next to me, we hugged] You read my mind! The aroma of fresh latte is amazing.
Rain: Let's enjoy this.
We chatted, ate, and I shared about the romantic, shy, and blushing vacation to an island with Junior..It was a small, secluded paradise where the sunsets painted the sky in hues of pink and orange, We laughed about the mishaps too—like the time we almost got lost
As the time wore on, we promised each other that someday, we would plan a trip together. The conversation progressed, and Mandy mentioned the breakfast Junior had bought, surprised by the attention from the charming wealthy bachelor. After chatting and laughing, they returned to the ward to resume work.Rain: [stretching as they stood up] That was a much-needed break.
Mandy: Anytime! It's always nice catching up. We should do this more often.
Rain: Definitely. Let's make it a weekly tradition. We deserve a little treat now and then.
As we walked back to the ward, we were greeted by the familiar hustle and bustle of the hospital. Nurses were attending to patients, doctors were consulting with one another, and the air was filled with the sounds of beeping machines and murmured conversations. we slipped seamlessly back into our roles, ready to tackle the rest of the day.
Rain: [checking my schedule] Looks like I have a couple of check-ups and then a meeting with Dr. Prance. How about you?
Mandy: Same here. I have rounds with Dr. Levy and then some paperwork to catch up on. By the way, did you hear about the new intern joining us next week?
Rain: Oh, yes! I heard she's top of her class and super enthusiastic. It will be nice to have some fresh energy around here.
we parted ways, diving back into our duties with renewed energy. The hospital was a demanding place, but it was moments like these, filled with camaraderie and small joys, that made it all worthwhile.

As I ended my shift and got home, I sat on the couch browsing through my phone. A video call from home came, and I suddenly stood up, feeling butterflies in my stomach. I cleared my throat and answered.
[call from home]
Rain: Hello [I could see the whole family—my mom, dad, and two brothers, my older brother Raymond and Ruben].
Mom: [My brothers were happy to see me, waving their hands as well as my mom.] Oh, what are you eating there? You lost weight, my baby. [I let out a smile.]
Rain: Hi, everyone! It's so good to see you all. [I chuckled as I adjusted my phone to get a better view of them.]
Dad: We've missed you, kiddo. How's work treating you?
Rain: It's been hectic, but I'm managing. How's everyone doing back home?
Raymond: We're good! Just busy with the usual stuff. Ruben and I are planning a little trip next weekend.
Ruben: Yeah, we thought it would be fun to explore that hiking trail we talked about last year. Wish you could join us, Rain.
Rain: Oh, that sounds amazing! I wish I could be there too. Maybe next time.
