Chapter 9 - 08: To Dream Part 8

Deji's Father had come home at the worst possible timing, as Deji and his Mother were arguing the door opened and entered a tall shileoutte of a man

The only thing visible is his green shirt and brown gean he held his car key in his left hand as he was open the door

As soon as he entered he immediately caught the attention of his family who were at each other's throats only his youngest -as he likes to call him came to greet him with joyful arms

So he had assumed mothering was amiss "could they have been discussing something ?, even so they got caught up in their discussion, I could even hear them from outside what must our neighbors think" he thought as he was about to sigh

" your sim is stealing from my sales and is lying about it!!"

It was this statement that made his mood change he pushed his youngest away from him slowly and made his way towards Deji

Bam !!

He hit Deji without any warning "this criminal" He thought immediately his shileoutte growing slightly bulky, his face and skin still disvisible

"Explain before I kick you"

"What the fuck…what if I was innocent" Deji thought as he held his thriving cheek "wait a minute….. I am innocent I didn't steal a single kobo* " he frowned

Deji got up up slowly his body still aching from the beating he had collected earlier, he was feeling weak and dizzy from just thinking of the beating he was about to collect

"If I deny it I'll get hit, if I accept it I might pass out from it either way I'm fucked"Deji muttered to himself

"What was that ?" His father yelled raising his hand up but Deji just got up and looked at his mother, the expression on Deji's face Ade his father freeze

Deji wore a worn out expression as if he didn't care about anything anymore whether he was sad or angry couldn't be discerned. But one thing for sure was that he was tired

"Maybe I'll go easy on him today" Deji's father night as he looked towards his bride with his side eye

"Why do you think it's your money….. why do you think I stole from your money…..why?" Deji said while looking directly at his mother he was holding back his tears of frustration

"Because of this !!" Deji's mother -Esther, showed the call history of her phone with the last call being Brother Jide wears "he called me and told me the amount he gave you but how much did you give me?….and with confidence"

Deji became confused as he tried to wrap his bread around what his mother had said, yes Mr Jide always called to confirm payments so that part wasn't strange

What was starnge was that he had given a false amount of payment and ontop of that it made it sound like he had cheated him

No that couldn't have been the case, Deji thought knowing Me Jide wouldn't betray him like they he had no reason to sell him to his parents while not long Deji and Mr Jide had a history of sales of exchanges

"Could he have let it slip??...there's no way right and even if that was the case she wouldn't make a big deal of it" Deji racked his brain trying to make sense of this information "Tobi had stoleneben a larger amount and after scolding him she bought the item he was going to purchase with the money… so why"

Deji came to a sad realization "was it because it was Tobi and this time it's me???" Deji felt his heart ache at the thought this amount of partiality

Esther then brought something out that made Deji's face turn pale "I should've just thrown it out" Deji sighed in heart as he let out a smirk

Even though he was smiling on the outside, he was crying on the inside, Deji had picked up this habit of smiling in bad or difficult situations from the lectures he received as he was being disciplined

Even a five year old would understand the purpose of the flyer and since it was in the same place as the money his parents assumed he was saving money for the competition

This was the one thing that his parents were against and now it made sense why his mother was upset but that would only mean that his father was in an even worse mood

The two parties yelled and schooled him on various reasons why he couldn't win and it was a waste of time to be a creator

Dropping a lot of meaningful points to their argument and whenever Deji refused to respond he would get hit and if he gave a half-assed excuse or response he would get hit even harder

With no one to stop them or take Deji side he found himself hating the art he once loved but most importantly the face of the girl and boy who gave him the flyer became vivid in his mind, and become faces he wouldn't forget if he saw them

After abiut an hour of abuse Deji was bruised and tired he didn't even have an appetite for the food they served. And with everyone acting like nothing has happened he beacons so furious that it began to surface and he simply went out to the hallway after cleaning and hiding the visible bruises

The time was a little eight in the night and Deji sat idly at a window at the end of the hallway looking out into the sky

"I never knew the sky could be so beautiful" Deji blurted reaching his hand to the moon

"Yeah it's quite beautiful ain't it" a calm and lovely voice spoke in the background

With a strand of long purple braids laid out in the moon light that passed through the window a familiar face walked towards Deji

Her presence illuminated the dark clouds around Deji as he saw one of his close friend and the only one who understood him

"Anita ?" Deji called out shifting his gaze away from the sky

But he didn't leave of change his sitting position, he was simply happy to see a friend, who appeared during one of his dark times
