Chapter 20 - Revealing the truth

"I'm writing your manager. They aren't expecting you in the office anytime soon," he furiously typed in the laptop.

Nora rolled her eyes, "It's just the first month, I'm fine. I can still go to work," she stood up from the bed, and took the laptop from him.

He squinted his eyes, "The doctor said you shouldn't face any mental or physical stress. Isn't your work stressing enough?"

"I'll be fine, it's not stressing," she kept the laptop on the desk, and shook her head.

He folded his arms across his chest, "I know that if you resume work, you'll come back home late everyday! That might kill.."

Nora gave him a hard stare and he shut up.

"Do you think I'm that monstrous to kill my baby?"

"I don't know," he shrugged, "I'm only protecting the baby."

She held her head, "Oh, please," she shook her head, and went back to the bed to sit down.

There was silence for a while, before Jimmy broke it.

"What would you like to eat?"

"Nothing, I'm not hungry."

"Oh, I'm giving you something to eat regardless, the doctor advised me to let you eat a lot.."

"He said I should eat a lot, he didn't say you should kill me with food! I ate twenty five minutes ago!"

"What if the baby is starving? You know.."

"Ugh! Stop, you're being a pain in the ass right now," she folded her arms across her chest, and looked away with a very deep frown on her face.

Jimmy sighed. He just wanted to keep to the doctor's words, now she was calling him a pain in the ass.

There was another silence, "So.. what do you want to do?" He spoke up.

Why was he being nice all of a sudden?

"This feels off, not going to lie," she slowly turned to face him.

"Why? I'm just being caring."

"No, it's odd of you being kind to me. I find it disturbing," she knitted her brows together.

He pouted, "Let's go out on a stroll," he grinned.

"No."

"Come on, let the baby see new things!"

"You care only about the baby?! It's still a foetus That's growing inside me. I'm the one who's carrying this child, don't I have feelings too?"

"So.. you don't want to go out?"

"No."

His face drooped, "But.. why?"

"I feel uncomfortable. I don't want to do it, thank you."

Jimmy watched her for a while. How uncomfortable was she around him?

He walked up to her, "Nora," he called softly.

"What?"

"Is there a reason you feel uncomfortable about me being nice? I thought you wanted me to be nice."

"It's not as if you're being nice to me because you just wanted to, I know you're doing it for the baby."

Jimmy's brows relaxed, and he blinked, "So.." he was short of words, and didn't know what else to say.

"You shouldn't bother about it. I'm perfectly fine, I don't want a walk."

He nodded, "Then I'll sit here and keep you company," he said firmly.

She arched her brows, "Okay?"

He sat besides on the bed, and folded his hands.

Nora fidgeted when he sat besides her. She tried to calm her racing heart. Jimmy wasn't the reason she was flinching, was he?

She shifted on the bed, a little uncomfortable, and tried to maintain distance.

"Why're you staying away from me? I'm not going to eat you," he grinned.

She rolled her eyes, and said nothing.

"Oh come on," he pulled her hand, and drew her closer, "Jerry broke up with me," he sighed.

She contorted her face in disgust, and tried to pull away from him, but he held her hand firmly, but gently.

"Why're you telling me this?" She snapped.

"There's no one I can tell. They won't listen," he pouted.

She rolled her eyes, "I don't want to listen too."

"Please."

"No."

He wrapped his arms around her, and buried his head in the nook of her neck.

"Please, I want to talk to someone."

She froze when he did that. Jimmy hadn't had any kind of physical contact for as long as she could remember. Her heart began to pound in her chest.

"Wh- what do you want to talk about?"

He pulled away, and she breathed a sigh of relief, "I.. did not always want to be gay though."

Her eyes widened, "then why are you gay?"

He looked at her, and his eyes drooped, "When I was seven, I was sexually assaulted by my uncle."

She gasped, "What?"

"Yes, he had told me he wanted us to play a game. I was just too playful back then, of course I loved the idea of a game."

Nora's eyes softened.

"He took off my clothes, and also did so too. I wondered why he did that, but I couldn't say anything. Then, that's when he did the deed."

Nora felt her heart tightening, "What a disgusting uncle he is?"

"I hated it because it was painful at first, and I didn't want to play it anymore, but the more he did it, the more I liked it so.. yeah."

"Why didn't you say anything to your parents?"

"He told me not, he threatened to kill me if I did. I was scared, so I just didn't tell anyone."

Nora covered her mouth with her hands. He dropped his gaze, "To worsen it, I never had any Female friends growing up so it only watered an already growing seed."

Nora felt so bad for him, "This is so sad," her eyes teared up.

He looked at her and noticed the tears in her eyes, "Ha! Don't cry about it. It's not as if I feel bad about it."

She sniffed, "it wasn't your fault that you were this way. That uncle of yours deserves to be punished."

"He's dead."

Nora frowned, "Huh?"

"You're the only one I've ever told."

"I killed him," he looked away.

Nora's jaws slacked, "What the f**k?"

"He tried doing it again when I was sixteen. I was fed up, so I just took a knife that I had hid with me, and killed him."

Nora was too shocked to hold it in and she passed out.
