It was around 1 AM when Autumn sat in one of the chairs of the now-empty hall. Argon was preoccupied with the security team, so it took him a while to find her. When his gaze finally fell on her sad figure seated at the empty table, he frowned. Something irritated him instantly—the coat Autumn had on her shoulder.
'Who was that idiot? And how does Autumn know him? They looked close,' he wondered. His irritation grew as he thought about how close Autumn seemed to be with that man and how concerned she was for him. Especially the fact that after he had left, she didn't smile even once and kept holding the coat around herself tightly. He gritted his teeth in annoyance but then noticed Autumn's gaze finding him. He instantly fixed his expression and smiled. "I am so sorry I got busy," he sounded apologetic.
Autumn got on her feet and instantly shook her head, embarrassed. "Oh no, you don't have to be sorry. It is okay. You must have been shocked a lot. I should be here to console you after what just happened to you," Autumn said with concern.
Argon went silent for a second and glanced down before nodding. "Yeah, it did make me a little worried. I wonder who might be targeting me like that. I don't have any enemies like that," he said under his breath, but then slowly changed the topic. "You must be tired. Should we head back home?" Argon's considerate tone despite the situation brought a smile to Autumn's face and she nodded.
"Sure, but are you okay with driving? I mean, you must be startled by the situation at least," she said softly.
"Oh! No, not at all, I am completely fine and definitely not startled." Acting tough, Argon replied instantly. Autumn paused and then nodded.
"Oh yeah, you are a tough guy after all, then it wouldn't be a problem for you at all. I think we should go then," Autumn said, wrapping the coat more tightly around herself.
"Do you want me to hold that for you?" He pointed at the coat that belonged to Leo. "I mean, it is a little ripped. You could use mine for the time being." He offered his long coat to her instantly, something he had already prepared because he had never thought of offering his coat to anyone until he had seen Leo do it and now felt like a total loser.
"No! I am very comfortable in this. You don't have to lend me yours at all. I don't want to burden you in any other way, especially after what you went through today." Autumn instantly became courteous and rejected him ever so innocently, shattering Argon's hopes of removing Leo's remnants from her.
"It isn't burdensome," he said to himself, feeling defeated once again. Heat built up in his chest and he wanted to punch that man hard for taking his spotlight away on such a day.
Heading straight towards the exit, Argon stayed a step behind Autumn, his hand reaching out to her back as he cautiously walked behind, ready to assist her if needed. Kant had already driven the car to the front of the building and got out from the front seat, opening the door of the car for him.
"You can go, I will drive her back home and head back myself," he said.
Kant wanted to say something else, as the situation was very critical and leaving Argon alone wasn't a sane thing to do, but he also knew how Argon wanted some time alone with Autumn because he hadn't had any ever since the party started.
"Yes, sure." He handed over the car keys to him and then disappeared. Argon then opened the door for Autumn"Thank you," she said, smiling as she took her seat. Argon walked around the car, sat in the driver's seat, and started the engine. The two drove out of the building's premises. As Autumn watched the changing scenery outside, she felt relieved that she was finally headed home. At least she had kept her promise, even though she didn't like being in an unfamiliar place.
Completely distracted by her thoughts, Autumn didn't notice Argon struggling to break the ice. It was only after ten whole minutes that Argon mustered up some courage to speak. "That guy who saved me," he uttered, catching Autumn's attention instantly. Her head turned towards him with lightning speed.
"Yes, what about him?" she asked, her face radiant, her eyes twinkling like stars in the dark night.
'Who is that man?' Argon's irritation grew even more.
"It seemed that you knew him. I mean, I was curious about his identity, and the police were interested in meeting him. They considered he might be involved in the attack," he added.
"No way!" she exclaimed. "He would never do that. Leo is such a nice person; he would never hurt anyone." There was a long pause as the scene of Leo landing the metal rod on the man's head and making him fly across the road flashed before her eyes. "I mean, what I am saying is that he is a very good person. He even saved you. How could you think of your savior like that?" Sounding a little disappointed, Autumn puffed her cheeks, a frown forming between her brows.
Argon froze when he saw how worked up she got suddenly. Leo did indeed have a significant place in Autumn's heart, that was clear. But why? Argon had to know. He could sense a potential rival in love.
"I didn't mean it like that. It's just that his presence in that place and his swift reaction made it a little suspicious." Argon tried to clear his profile in front of Autumn, but what he heard next almost caused him to hit the car against the pole just by the road.
"Well, of course, He is in the right place at the right time and he is fast. He is so skilled!! Why shouldn't he be? Have you seen his body? How well-built it is? Not to mention that he is my saviour and I am forever indebted to him." Autumn stated the entire list without breathing even once.
"His body? His skill?" Argon choked on his tongue. "And you owe him debt?"
Autumn suddenly felt like she had said too much but quickly corrected herself. "I mean, he has so much strength, so it is obvious that he would have a well-built body," she said. 'Not that I have seen it,' she thought to herself.
"His body? His strength? Who is this man to her? WHat did he do to her to make her chant like that about him?" Argon's hand tightened around the steering wheel. Even if this man was completely innocent in the attack case, now Leo had become a threat to Argon's love life, and that was not good news.
