Rory's eyebrows furrowed. Who was this animal, shouting so early in the morning?
She turned around to see Clara standing there glaring at her with her cat eyes. Of course, it had to be her. It was early Monday morning yet some people just couldn't help themselves to create unnecessary trouble.
Rory blatantly ignored her and was about to walk away when Clara held her arm.
"Who do you think you are to walk out on me?! Am not done talking to you!"Clara said furiously. Rory's dark blue eyes became icy cold and her expression unreadable. "Let go of my arm, "Rory told her calmly but her eyes lacked warmth. Clara was so afraid that she took a step back in fear and she subconsciously let go of her arm.
Rory smiled at her reaction. Clara cleared her throat feeling embarrassed. How can someone like Rory make her feel scared?
"Don't get like this. I was only concerned about you. A little birdie told me that you haven't gone to school before. I would be worried" Clara's words sounded super sincere.
Rory rolled her eyes. Suddenly, Rory saw Sammy walk towards them and her lips curled up.
"Sammy! You're here?!"Rory cried out in surprise.
"Yes, Rory. Why do you look surprised?"Sammy asked confused. She knew that she attended the same school. So what was with the question? Sammy narrowed her eyes and thought, 'What was this brat up to?'
Rory calmly replied, "Well, I thought you'd be halfway across the continent by now."
"What do you mean Rory?"Sammy was getting more confused by her zig zag words.
"Ah! Clara just said that a little bird told her that I had never gone to school. And we both know that you are the only parrot that could ever say that kind of thing."Rory said innocently.
Clara's face didn't look so good. She glared at Rory.
"Rory I can explain. I..."
"You don't owe her any explanation!"Clara said resolutely.
"Ha! Look, Sammy! You can see with your very eyes. The person you were so deeply concerned about, doesn't even care about you!"Clara added.
Sammy started to sob.
"Clara don't say that.. sob...sob.."
By now other students stopped to watch. Who wouldn't want to watch? The school belle was sobbing and Clara looked angry and it seemed all the anger was directed towards Aurora.
"What happened?"Someone couldn't help but ask.
"Well....."Sammy bit her lip.
"Sammy don't be afraid! As long as you are not in the wrong, we won't let anyone bully you!"A girl said like she was Sammy's defender and looked at Rory in askance and both their eyes met. The girl couldn't help but gulp as she saw Rory's cold eyes.
"If you won't tell them, I will!" Clara said firmly.
"Clara don't be like this"Sammy said trying to stop her. Her eyes looked sincere but deep down she was happy.
"We were discussing the test when Sammy blurted that Rory had never gone to school with a concerned voice. And now when I brought to her this morning, she scolded both Sammy and me. Making Sammy cry!"Clara painted Rory to be a bad person and unreasonable.
Meanwhile, Aurora felt like clapping. One was good at acting, the other good at manipulating. Fabulous!
"So disgusting! You are just so bad!"
"Sammy was only trying to be concerned about you!"
"How could you be so shameless! Beauty with no brains!"
"Don't you know there's a huge difference between you and Sammy!"
Onlookers were so quick to drown Rory with criticism.
"I can't believe this Rory. You came into this school with a backdoor entry. The least you can do is to work hard and her good grades. But it seems all you are good at is sleeping around and committing all sorts of despicable things!"Clara didn't hold back. Her words were unfriendly and sharp.
"You are one to speak Clara" Terrance scoffed.
"If you all think that Rory is alone and doesn't have people to defend her, then you are mistaken!"Blaire said coldly as her eyes scanned through the crowd.
Rory saw her friends were there and surrounded her like her knights. On her left were, Terrance, David, and Franklin. While on the right were, Blaire and Kay. They all looked angry.
They were all headed to different places but they stopped when they saw the commotion. When they saw their goddess was in trouble they couldn't sit still.
"You of all people shouldn't even open their mouths to speak," David said looking at her. David was a lazy student and was known for intimidating students and getting bad grades. He ditched classes and did whatever he wanted to and there was no one to stop him because he was rich and the youngest son of the Laurent family, which was one of the most affluent families in the city.
So his speaking up for Rory was a huge shock to everyone.
"Your entire family reeks of evil deeds! Now you stand here claiming to be holy and lecture someone? Is there a limit to your shame?"Frank couldn't help but ask.
Her father was a poor man before. Then out of the blue, he became rich. Didn't that seem suspicious?
At this point, everyone was rendered speechless. The children of the most powerful families who were said to be spoiled, arrogant, and didn't care about people, were now standing here speaking in favor of Rory. They must be seeing things.
"No, no. You misunderstood Clara. She didn't say it to hurt or bully Rory. She was just trying to help me, that's all"Sammy tried to explain.
However, in her heart, she was cursing Rory and wondering how could she be so lucky to have 5 powerful backers.
"If Clara can support you, then I can't see anything wrong in us supporting Rory. It's 50/50"Blaire said logically with a smile.
"Just so you know, you are all clearly helping the wrong person. This girl is nothing but a filthy whore. Someone with no background could get into T.H.S. If you all can turn a blind eye, I won't! She is a gold digger and a sl*t" Clara said while pointing her finger at Rory. Clara was infuriated by how those people were supporting Rory.
"Repeat what you said"
