Muylin had Sam, her assistant, book a hotel reservation for them. In the car, the woman was utterly restless. She first believed she wouldn't care upon arriving to Star City, but she was nervous about someone accidentally recognizing her. And so, she endlessly pestered the men in the car with her: Sam and the man in charge of her security, Rowen.
"I'm just saying, what if my voice is recognized or my scarf flies off my face or…" Muylin continued as she listed all the possible ways she could be discovered.
The men at the front merely shared a glance and shook their heads at the woman's paranoia. They didn't even bother calming her down, knowing full-well it wouldn't work, and so they just waited for her to finish her raving. And finally, she ended as she silently expected the two to say something.
"Are you done, Madam?" Rowen's hoarse voice drily asked.
"I feel like you two aren't taking my concerns seriously," Muylin complained as she annoyedly crossed her arms.
It was sometimes difficult to believe that that was the woman who took over and revolutionized the business world so quickly. Rowen rolled his eyes for the third time in five minutes as Sam released a soft chuckle.
"Milady, your concerns are sensible, but we are here to ensure none of those scenarios happen. Besides, you are pretty careful yourself," Sam's calm and elegant voice replied.
"You are completely missing the point!" Muylin childishly snapped.
"Perhaps, but we have the event to worry about," Sam responded as he tilted his head towards the back where Muylin was.
There was an annual event being held that evening by the city's mayor to commemorate all the successful people and their contributions to the city's wealth. And Muylin, or rather Amanda Saw, had been invited as a guest of honour. All the city's government officials, big families, business owners and representatives, celebrities and others of importance or of higher standing had been invited. The Mayor received word of Amanda Saw's intended visit to Star City some days before and immediately ordered she be requested as an honorary guest to welcome her. Muylin didn't know how to feel about the situation, she knew she'd be meeting a lot of the people from her past in the event alone.
Her "family", the Reeces, were sure to be there since her father was not only a government official, but he was pretty loaded due to fruitful investments over the years. He was one of the richest men in the city over 40, so he was certainly invited, along with his wife and daughter. Muylin sneered to herself as she thought of that treacherous family, before having her mind slip to her former lover, Bryce Cameron. The man who stepped on heart and threw it in the trash like all their love was worth nothing, like she was worth nothing. He was out for her blood so much he played a part in the destruction of her societal reputation, publicly claiming that falling for her was a mistake and the greatest error one could commit. He was now a leading businessman having been the heir to his father's company, so he was most definitely invited. Her mind then wandered to Devon Stone, the man who crushed her professional reputation by taking her own company from her hands and stripping away her intellectual integrity. And he too was a leading businessman, on par with Bryce as a rival. She wondered how everyone would react to her true identity, what they would do if they knew that the woman who was capable of bringing obliteration upon them was the same woman they themselves ruined and left with nothing. An evil smirk crept up her face as she thought of all the ways she would torture each and every one of them.
She was eager to repay them their deeds.
"Any news yet?" Muylin inquired.
They knew what she meant. Five years later and all the power in the world she still didn't know who brought all that misery on her, who took everything away from her.
"Nothing, milady," Sam answered.
Muylin sighed. When she was told that had been framed it was too late, she had disappeared and no one would believe her in any case. She grinded her teeth at the thought of all that had transpired. Someone wanted to destroy her so much they created pictures, a video and falsified documents that ruined her life and showed her off as a disrespectful deceiver with no dignity whatsoever. They despised her so much they just had to reign devastation upon Muylin. She could forgive her family, friends, Devon Stone and even Bryce. But the day she would find out the person behind it all...
No amount of begging would quench her insatiable thirst for revenge.
