"There you are. What took so long?" Lucian inquired as Shana approached him in the library.
Shana shrugged, a sheepish smile playing on her lips. "Nothing, just got carried away with a book I was reading in my room."
"Well, since you're here," Lucian said, reaching for a book on the shelf. He handed it to Shana, who looked at it with a puzzled expression.
Before she could question him, Lucian continued, "Before you start your training, you're going to have to read every book in this library."
Shana's eyes widened in disbelief as she scanned the vast expanse of the library. "Every book?" she echoed incredulously.
Lucian nodded, his expression serious. "Yes, every book. You're about to be sent into a world you know nothing about. It's only reasonable that you learn everything about it first before engaging in battle training."
Shana opened her mouth to protest, but Lucian preempted her, continuing, "When you read about them and learn their weaknesses and strengths, their origins, it'll be easier for you when faced with an enemy."
Shana sighed, realizing the weight of the task ahead of her. "But how do you possibly expect me to read every book here? We barely have time to save my papa," she reasoned, frustration creeping into her voice.
Lucian placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Trust me, Shana. This is essential. We'll find a way to balance your training with your studies. But knowledge is your greatest weapon in this fight."
Before Shana could respond, a student entered the library and whispered something into Lucian's ear. He excused himself and left, leaving Shana alone with her thoughts and the daunting task ahead.
