Chapter 19 - SURVIVE

Shana hadn't gone too far when Quinn's voice echoed in the halls. "Do you even know where you're heading?"

She halted, realizing she had no idea where the training room was. With a smirk on his face, Quinn walked past her, and she followed him, feeling irritated but grateful for his guidance.

"What a way to make a good impression on your first day," Quinn remarked, his tone teasing.

Shana kept silent, refusing to engage with him.

"So, not much of a talker, huh?" Quinn inquired, glancing back at her.

Still, she said nothing.

With a sigh, he continued, "You're not even going to say thank you for rescuing you from Nova and her friends?"

Shana turned to look at him, her expression guarded. "First of all, I didn't ask for your help. I was doing perfectly fine on my own."

She resumed walking, but Quinn stayed behind, causing her to stop. Annoyance flickered across her features as she turned to face him.

"We're here," he said simply, then turned and left without another word.

As she entered the room, everyone's eyes turned towards her, making her feel even more self-conscious. She spotted Luke at the corner of the room and walked towards him.

"Good morning," she greeted him.

"You're late," Luke responded, his tone stern.

Just as she was about to explain herself, he cut her off.

"Give me 50 pushups."

Shana's eyes widened in disbelief. "What?! I can't do 50 pushups!"

Luke's gaze remained fixed on the dagger in his hand as he replied, "I didn't ask if you could do it. I said do it."

Shana's arms quivered with effort as she attempted the pushups, each one feeling like a monumental struggle. Sweat beaded on her forehead, and her muscles screamed in protest.

Luke, seemingly unmoved, looked at the pathetic sight before him and then walked out of the room, leaving Shana to follow behind, panting and exhausted.

They walked until they arrived at the park. Luke pointed to the track. "10 laps," he ordered, before taking a seat on a nearby bench.

Shana's legs felt like lead as she began to run, each step heavier than the last. With every lap, her breath became more ragged, her heart pounding against her chest.

Just as she finished the tenth lap, her legs gave out beneath her, and she collapsed to the ground, gasping for air.

Luke approached her slowly, his expression unreadable. "How on earth is she going to survive out there?" he wondered to himself.
