At night, Sylas kept his word.
All the ingredients were fully prepared by Sylas, allowing everyone to eat to their heart's content. Both Sylas and the three women were extremely satisfied with the meal. Sydney, in particular, was deeply moved. She never expected that on her first day joining the group, she would be treated so well, dining on Japanese sukiyaki.
Hayden, having also experienced hunger, was equally grateful to Sylas for the Japanese sukiyaki.
"You all stay home and rest; I'm going for a walk to digest the food," Sylas said to the three women after they had eaten their fill.
Of course, Sylas' so-called walk was just an excuse. He intended to take advantage of the night to kill more mutated zombies. He needed to upgrade his two abilities, which required killing more mutated zombies.
A random task popped up on the system interface: "Slaughter in the Night: Kill ten mutated zombies during the night. Reward: Title of Night King."
Night King: A special title that increases combat power by 50% in dark environments.
Sylas was intrigued and decided to attempt completing this task. Although the difficulty of the task was relatively high, the reward was very tempting.
As the sun set and darkness fell, the world entered an era dominated by zombies. Zombies disliked sunlight and were inactive during the day. However, at night, their vitality returned, and hordes of zombies emerged from the streets.
Nighttime was the most dangerous time on the streets.
There were not many zombies left in the neighborhood. Sylas had no intention of staying there. He quickly left the neighborhood and headed towards the street.
The Hunt on the Streets.
The streets were densely packed with zombies. It was only because Sylas possessed the zombie aura skill that he could safely walk among them. Sylas also had night vision, allowing him to clearly see the movements of the zombies in the dark.
However, Sylas' targets were not these ordinary zombies; he had no interest in killing them. He was interested in killing mutated zombies. Tonight, he needed to kill ten of them.
There it was—a giant zombie appeared before Sylas. The giant zombie was some distance away, surrounded by a group of ordinary zombies, like a boss flanked by its minions.
Sylas thought for a moment and decided not to attack the mutated zombie directly. Instead, he used his katana, controlling it with telekinesis to slash at the mutated zombie. The giant mutated zombie's body had strong defenses, and the telekinetically controlled katana couldn't penetrate it. However, the slash enraged the mutated zombie.
The katana hit its mark, and Sylas immediately retreated. The mutated zombie let out an angry roar and chased after the fleeing katana. A smile formed at the corner of Sylas' mouth; his plan was working.
Sylas followed, ensuring the katana remained within his control range. The katana led the zombie into an alley, a pre-selected battleground. The narrow alley had fewer zombies, and the giant zombie would find it difficult to move.
Sylas reached the battle site and began conjuring a fireball in his hand. The moment the fireball appeared, the mutated zombie sensed Sylas' presence.
He immediately abandoned the katana that had been luring him and turned to charge rapidly at Sylas. Despite his massive size, the mutated zombie moved with astonishing speed. At that moment, telekinesis acted on one of the zombie's feet, like an invisible rope tripping him up. The mutated zombie stumbled and fell to the ground.
Sylas' fireball was ready and he launched it without hesitation. With a loud explosion, the fireball struck the zombie's head, creating a large gash. The zombie's head was incredibly tough, and this attack did not kill it, but it did infuriate the creature.
Sylas knew he had to finish the fight quickly, or else a swarm of zombies would arrive, putting him in grave danger. The giant mutated zombie was too strong to be held down by telekinesis alone, but Sylas could use telekinesis to trip it up and slow it down. Once again, the zombie fell to the ground, roaring in frustration, unable to understand why it kept stumbling.
Sylas compressed the fireball in his hand, making it smaller but significantly more powerful. With another loud explosion, the fireball hit the wound on the zombie's head. This time, the attack was fatal, and the zombie's head exploded.
The energy crystal inside the mutated zombie's head was incredibly resilient, so there was no worry of it being damaged.
