Chapter 32 - Another Slave

Sydney was utterly shocked, but considering the current situation, it seemed understandable. After all, if Sylas was offering to take care of her, it was only natural that he wanted something in return. If he had no demands yet still wanted to support her, it would certainly imply a bigger scheme.

Hearing Sylas's terms, however, actually made Sydney feel a bit relieved. But the thought of selling herself into slavery just for some food was something she found hard to accept.

"Can't there be another condition? I can do housework for you," Sydney said in a low voice.

"Heh, being my slave also means you'll do housework," Sylas replied with a cold sneer. Then, softening his tone, he said, "That's my only demand. Think it over. Besides, apart from me, there are only women in my house, so you'll only need to serve me, not any other men."

"Such a condition is unique to my place. In other groups, women are shared among many men. If you agree, I'll take you now. If not, maybe I'll come back in a few days, or maybe I won't come back at all," Sylas said, threateningly.

Sylas knew that Sydney was at her breaking point, which is why he decided to pressure her this way. Sure enough, Sydney became anxious upon hearing this. She was starving and didn't want to continue suffering. She longed for a meal, for meat.

"I agree, please don't leave me here alone," Sydney said, pitifully. She didn't want to stay in the cold, lifeless house any longer. She was desperate to leave this miserable life behind. Besides, Sylas's place sounded promising. Serving just one man was something she could accept.

"So, are you agreeing to be my slave now?" Sylas repeated.

"I agree," Sydney said weakly.

But the system remained unresponsive.

"You don't sound very willing. Deep down, you probably don't agree," Sylas said seriously. "I won't force you unless you truly agree in your heart."

"I don't disagree! I really do agree," Sydney said quickly.

Sylas waited, but the system still didn't react, indicating that Sydney was still resistant.

"Forget it, if you don't agree, I won't force you. I'll leave now and check on you in a few days," Sylas said calmly.

Even if she verbally agreed but didn't truly consent to being Sylas's slave, the system wouldn't recognize it. Although Sylas didn't understand why Sydney would lie, the system could detect it.

"Don't go! I really agree to be your slave. I truly do," Sydney cried out.

This time, the system finally responded.

"Successfully obtained a prime slave. Reward: Telekinesis."

Telekinesis: A formless, invisible force that can move objects around.

Sylas was instantly elated. Saving Sydney wasn't in vain; it had earned him a new ability. The Fire Control ability had already shown its benefits, and now he wondered how Telekinesis would compare.

Sylas quietly absorbed the Telekinesis ability and understood how to use it. Telekinesis was essentially an external manifestation of mental power, akin to projecting one's mental strength. While mental power alone couldn't affect physical objects, Telekinesis allowed it to do so. It was similar to Magneto's magnetic force.

Sylas focused on a cup on the table. Activating Telekinesis, it felt as though an invisible hand grasped the cup, lifting it into the air. Under Sylas's control, the cup floated, moving left and right, creating a very eerie sight.

Sydney, unaware that it was Sylas causing the commotion, thought the room was haunted and screamed.

"Don't be afraid. This is one of my abilities. I'm just demonstrating it to you," Sylas explained to Sydney.

Seeing Sydney's stunning face, Sylas felt a stir in his heart, but now wasn't the time to think about such things. He asked her, "Do you like this ability?"

"Is this your ability? Of course, I like it," Sydney said enviously.

Sylas smiled and explained, "Actually, my ability is that when someone becomes my slave, I awaken a new power. This ability only manifested after you became my slave."

"But now you are truly my slave," Sylas continued. "I can control your life and death. If you die, it doesn't affect me, but if I die, you will die too."

Hearing this, Sydney was dumbfounded. She found it hard to believe, but recalling how insistent Sylas had been about her becoming his slave, she began to believe him.

"Being my slave means being under my control, but there are benefits for you as well. I will take care of you and ensure your safety. If you satisfy me, I can grant you great power."

"For example, I can give you an extra-large storage space."

As Sylas spoke, he granted Sydney a dimensional space.
