'How dull,'
Collecting another 3 [Malichyte Wolf] corpses, I looked at my weapons.
One of the legs were bent in a completely unusual way, and the other was broken, jagged bone popping out of the end of the weapon.
Activating [Monster Tracker] I saw one more monster ahead in the cave.
"It's probably the boss monster,"
'I would probably assume it is as weak as all the others, but I have to be alert,'
My instincts were screaming at me that the monster in front of me shouldn't be underestimated.
'I won't have [Start of a Saga] apply for the battle, so that's a large part of my attack power gone,'
'If the game has been this realistic, maybe I could just play it dirty?'
Opening up my inventory, I took a corpse of a [Malichyte Wolf] I had killed that had the least amount of damage done to it.
While I could just [Random Collect] it it would reduce the amount of materials I could use but it would make it more usable.
Fortunately, because of [Diverse Weaponry] anything I hold is a weapon with stats.
I took the tooth of the [Malichyte Wolf] before ripping it's backside in order to take out the spine of the wolf before taking it apart in order to create throwables similar to caltrops.
[Weapon Registered]
[Wolf Spine Caltrop] + 5 ATK
'Nice,'
I slowly skinned the fur in order to make a bag to hold the caltrops.
After putting the caltrops in the bag, satisfied, I made my way to the front of the entrance to the [Boss Room]
Entering it, I saw a much larger wolf around the size of myself sleeping beside a purple stone.
'This boss looks completely different to the other wolves,'
Whilst the other [Malichyte Wolves] had a green sheen to it, the boss monster had a purple luster to it, making it look more like a gemstone than a living thing.
I looked up to see the name.
[Alpha Malichyte Wolf] - Level 25 [Recommended]
'Fuck,'
I looked at my level to see it had just reached 26.
That meant that both of my given titles wouldn't activate.
At a visual glance, the boss monster did not look it had any stats similar to the previous wolves, rather it looked much more powerful.
I looked at my status.
Name: Para
Path: Protagonist
Avatar: Beowulf
Titles: [Overachiever][Start of a Saga]
Level: 26
HP: 290/290
MP: 30/30
PLA: 135/185
ATK: 25 (+20)
AGI: 25 (+17)
INT: 5 (+5)
DEX: 15 (+8)
Available Stat Points: 125
Base stats wise, I still had the stats of a Level 1 player, using the Title buffs and the [Monster Legend] passive to save on the stat points.
Now, my stats would look like:
ATK: 70
AGI: 67
INT: 15
DEX: 38
A level 28 player.
'Not as optimal as I thought it would go,'
I thought, before observing the [Alpha Malichyte Wolf].
[Monster Hunter] recommended to throw the caltrops first, likely to bait the wolf into walking into it before attacking it.
I lifted up my bag before scattering the bone caltrops around the wolf.
I screamed as loud as I could, causing the [Alpha Malichyte Wolf] to jolt awake, alert.
It turned at me, silver eyes in view.
'How intimidating...'
Sweat gathered on my skin.
It opened it's mouth.
Purple energy built up.
'This monster knows magic-'
I opened up my inventory, throwing a wolf corpse at it as hard as I could.
As the ball of light exited its mouth, the wolf corpse looked as if a ball of shard wind attacked it.
'Wind Attribute,'
The [Alpha Malichyte Wolf] had lost a majority of it's glow, it's muscles bulging in tandem.
'It need to charge up, I'd assume,'
With that thought in mind, I rushed at it, both weapons now in hand.
The Boss raised it's claw, and I pulled back my right club in order to prepare a swing to match it.
We clashed, swing for swing, and the leftover flesh of my club was being teared off with each clash.
My virtual muscles were bulging under the tension and the force of each trade.
After a few more clashes there was just bone, and I clashed the bone against the claw, breaking the tip of the bone off, changing my weapon.
[Weapon Status Updated!]
[Malichyte Wolf Bone Rapier] + 35 ATK
- Max DMG when [Stabbed]
- Increases chance of [Critical Attack] by 5%
Giving a glance at the stats of my new weapon, I took a step back.
The [Alpha Malichyte Wolf]'s purple luster recharged, which meant that it was available to attack me with it's magic attack.
Tired, I wanted it to end as soon as possible before I made a mistake.
I opened my inventory in order to match it with another corpse, taking the opportunity to block it's vision before stabbing it in a critical hit area.
The [Alpha Malichyte Wolf] made distance in order to charge up the beam.
I took out 2 corpses, one to block the attack and another to block the [Alpha Malichyte Wolf]'s vision.
It released the blast, and I threw the first corpse, before throwing the second not much after.
The first corpse had blocked the magic beam, before the second corpse had impacted it's mouth, keeping the boss's mouth open.
While it's jaw was struggling with the corpse I took the chance to jump over the forgotten caltrops before landing on it's back, holding onto its fur with my left hand as it tried to shake me off, aware of the extra weight on it's back.
My virtual muscles shook, before I lifted the [Malichyte Wolf Bone Rapier] and stabbed it through it's neck.
The [Alpha Malichyte Wolf] slumped over, before breaking into translucent shards and reforming as a corpse.
[Level Up!]
"Only one level?"
I rolled off the body, exhausted.
'Why did they have to imitate fatigue in a game...'
Annoyed and tired, I huffed before pulling myself up and looking at my spoils of war.
'I wonder if [Alpha Malichyte Wolf] was supposed to have magic in it's arsenal...'
I thought, walking up to the purple stone before a barrage of notifications popped up.
"What the fuck..."
[You have activated the quest [Malichyte Forest's Mystery]!]
[Difficulty: E]
[Importance: Main Scenario]
[You have discovered an unusual object of importance!]
[Description: Go to the town of Euridia and notify the Lord of Euridia your findings!]
[Reward: New Title and EXP]
'What the fuck is Main Scenario supposed to mean?'
Ignoring the importance, I saw the reward.
'A New Title? Is it as good as the ones I have now?'
That was the biggest notification, and after I had read it other notifications popped up.
[[Butterfly Effect] has activated!]
- [Your actions will affect your environment much more!]
[Your victory against the [Alpha Malichyte Wolf] will increase your base reputation with [Human] NPCs across Polareys!]
- [+100 Reputation]
[[Beowulf]'s soul is satisfied with your hunt!]
- [Lowered Avatar Cooldown for [Beowulf] to 10 Hours!]
- Keep Temporary Skill [Monster Legend]
'I can keep the Skill?!'
[To your [Heroic] actions, [Protagonist's Buff] has been activated!]
- [+100 Reputation]
[Class Skill [Avatar] Has Leveled Up!]
- [There are Outfit Changes in order to increase [Immersion]]
As the notification showed up my original outfit of the default tunic and pants changed into what seemed to be leather armor.
They were much more comfortable, and they seemed to have more protection. I checked the stats of the new outfit, but it just seemed to be a reskin of the default tunic and pants.
'So defense wise it's useless,'
As I thought that, a notification popped up.
[Would you like to use [Plausibility] in order to make the equipment a reality?]
[Y/N]
'I don't want to waste [Plausibility] right now...'
I looked at the clock in the settings, which showed that almost 10 hours had passed since I activated [Beowulf] and because of the changed cooldown for [Beowulf], it would result in me being able to change into a different [Avatar]
'If I am going into Euridia then maybe I should choose a [Avatar] with a bit more benefits...'
I waited for a few more minutes for the [Avatar] to wear off before activating [Avatar] another list of character popping up, this time with much more options available.
'If I am going into a Town, maybe I should choose an [Avatar] that has charisma, or something similar, like a knight.'
I thought that, and the list was filtered out into famous knights of both folklore and history.
Most of the well known knights, such as King Arthur were grey, and I clicked on him just in case.
[If you choose a [Avatar] that is [Grey] then all of your [Plausibility] will be used and restrictions will be placed.]
'Damn...'
I scrolled down before looking at one that was yellow, unlike the other glowing ones that were green.
[Galahad of the Holy Grail]
'Galahad? This is the only Knight of the Round Table that isn't greyed out,'
Too tired to look and search up famous Knights, I just chose the name of one of the few Knights I knew from history.
After looking at the base stats I also increased my stats according to Galahad's to reduce the amount of [Plausibility] used.
Name: Para
Path: Protagonist
Avatar: None
Titles: [Overachiever][Start of a Saga]
Level: 27
HP: 300/300
MP: 30/30
PLA: 190/190
ATK: 55
AGI: 55

Available Stat Points: 0
"Choose [Galahad of the Holy Grail]!"
[There will be [Limitations] placed in order to reduce [Plausibility]]
[Do you want to Continue?]
[Y/N]
'Better than restrictions,'
I thought, clicking [Yes].
[Consuming 140 Plausibility for 7 days in order to Emulate Hero: Galahad of the Holy Grail for 7 days]
[Temporarily Unlocking [Holy Power]]
[Temporarily Unlocking [Charisma]]
I quickly looked at my new stats and skills to see what changed.

'The stat buff is so much more than Beowulf, is this the reputation of a legendary Knight?'
I turned my head to see my newly acquired skills.
[Avatar Skills]
- [Sword of Mastery]
Sword Understanding is Maxed.

[Limitation] - Must Pray in a [Church] once a day. Can only be activated once a day.
- [Knight of Renown]

[Limitation] - Minimum Reputation with [Unlawful] NPCs
'So the limitations is that I have to basically roleplay as Galahad?'
I thought, looking down as my clothes changed.
What used to be a Hunter's Garb changed into what seemed to be a casual Knight's outfit.
I was wearing the chest plate, and I had shoulder guards along with protection on my forearms.
My thighs were protected along with shin guards but my shoes were relatively unprotected, replaced with a leather shoe.
It wasn't full plate, and it was relatively comfortable to move around with.
On my side I had a belt scabbard, equipped with a blade.
[Would you like to use 50 [Plausibility] in order to make the equipment a reality?]
[Y/N]
'I guess I would need knight armor,'
I clicked [Yes], and the outfit felt more real, I could now feel the weight of the armor on my body, and the weight of the sword felt more pronounced.
With a realization I quickly unsheathed the blade, inspecting it.
'I can create weapons with this?!'
[Sword of the Strange Hangings] - Weakened
[Description: Sword of [Otherworldly] hero [David] and now owned by [Otherworldly] hero [Galahad].]
[Bound to Owner]
[ATK +100]
[Holy Power +50]
[50% DMG Increase of Critical Attack against [Hell-Type] Enemies]
'This is fucking weakened? Bullshit'
I thought, admiring the sword before sheathing it, walking over to the purple gem before adding it to my inventory.
I added the [Alpha Malichyte Wolf]'s corpse to my inventory and making my way out of the cave, satisfied with today's productivity.
'Maybe if I sell the corpse or the materials I could start making a dent on my debt before the interest increases,'
Tired, as soon as I made it out of the cave, I climbed up a tree, just in case any other mobs were around because I no longer had [Monster Tracker] as a skill.
"Sign Out!"
