Chapter 5 - Righteous Knight of Euridia (1)

My vision turned black, before I felt my body moving once more.

I took the visor off my head, before pressing a button to open the VR Pod, getting out and checking my phone for notifications, to see that there was no further contact from my former company.

'7 hours passed,'

My stomach grumbled.

Walking over to the fridge on the other side of my one room apartment, I opened it to see water bottles.

'Should I just order fried chicken and go to bed?'

I checked the delivery app to find that all the fried chicken places were closed.

'Maybe I should just go back in the game, one day in and I didn't even make an ounce of money,'

I thought, contemplating for a few more minutes before just deciding to go to bed and eating tomorrow morning before logging back in.

"The forest is feeling much more empty than I remember, Sir Wyke,"

A soldier mentioned to his superior.

"Do you think it's an adventurer?"

Squire Hewas inquired.

"There would be no adventurer who would even be stupid to be near this area,"

This was true.

While Euridia was closer to Placida compared to other towns, it had no [Warp Gate] which made it so that transportation to Euridia had to be solely done by foot, which was annoying for players to go to.

Quests that connected Placida with Euridia were rare, and they rarely were worth it in terms of both money and EXP for the amount of time spent traveling.

They also were time limited, and most of the time when a Euridia quest was possible it was skimmed over.

In addition, Euridia did not trade with Placida due to Placida being further compared to the closest city, which was Patrima which was in the opposite direction.

The [Malichyte Woods] wasn't an efficient hunting ground for lower level guilds either due to their low spawn rates.

While their low spawn rates allowed for the NPCs to be able such issues, it drastically reduced the foot traffic in Euridia.

As such, the NPC's reasoning was valid.

The patrolling group kept circling the town, as Euridia was still developing their defenses as recently, more [Malichyte Wolves] were spawning, threatening the town which was surrounded by trees.

After a few more minutes, they had inspected the cave that Paradyce had entered, aware of it's status of a dungeon.

They didn't have the manpower to effectively take care of the dungeon, and as a result, Lord Euridian had attempted to request manpower from both Placida and Patrima through adventurers.

But he didn't have enough resources to give enough benefits to such adventurers, and as a result, his request was buried under a pile of papers labeled as [Useless Quests].

The only silver lining is that the other than the occasional rise of the wolf population, the dungeon itself did not endanger the town.

When Knight Wyke had approached, the cave felt... more empty than normal.

Ignoring the feeling, Wyke gave his usual instructions in order to remove the first few waves of wolves in order to slowly tire out the dungeon core.

"Soldiers with shields get to the front, and Squire Hewas, prepare the the [Taunt Whistle]."

"Archers, get ready to shoot,"

"Soldiers, ready your spears,"

The archers had drew back their strings, their silver arrowheads gleaming.

"Taunt!"

Hewas, breathed in before pressing his lips against the entrance of the whistle and blew.

*Fuiiiiii*

A loud whistle was heard, echoing inside the cave.

The experienced soldiers held their breath, expecting a rush of around 5-6 wolves.

A few seconds passed.

The soldiers were still tense.

A few more seconds passed.

A few confused expressions popped up amongst the experienced soldiers.

Few soldiers, relaxed before looking at Knight Wyke, who also had a faint look of confusion, before turning into a look of understanding.

'It looks like someone cleared the dungeon,'

Wyke had signaled for the soldiers to relax.

"Let as go back to Euridia, I have to notify the Lord."

"It seems someone has both cleared the surroundings and the dungeon,"

Wyke mumbled, walking back to Euridia.

'I'll also have to do another patrol later, bandit attacks are becoming more frequent for my liking,'

"It seems that player Hyunsuh Park has defeated the boss,"

Manager Sangmin Kim mumbled, watching through his monitor.

Head Manager Suyoung Jo nodded, next to him.

"I mean in a sense it could be a good thing, after all while the [Protagonist] path was made so it could start the Act 1 Main Scenario not having anyone choose such a path made it so that it took 2 years to find the key for the first Main Scenario, much later than how Artificial God Alecrine calculated,"

Sangmin reasoned.

"Maybe he will put everything back how the original pacing was supposed to go,"

"He is still too weak to efficiently start the Act 2 Main Scenario as the enemies would have been buffed according to the average level in Polareys,"

"With his speed and skills, he could probably catch up to high rankers much faster than other people, even more so if he reaches [Path Evolution] at Level 100,"

"That is true,"

Suyoung agreed, before watching Hyunsuh change [Avatar]

"Wait how did that happen!"

She stood up pointing to the monitor.

Sleepy due to how late it was, Sangmin was startled by the loud exclamation.

"What,"

"He changed [Avatar] even though 7 days haven't even passed yet!"

"What?!"

He looked closer to the outfit Hyunsuh was wearing.

"That looks like a Knight [Avatar],"

Sangmin quickly opened up a new tab before putting it on a holographic monitor to his left before searching up Hyunsuh's player ID and looking at the Audit Log of his notifications.

"[Beowulf] acknowledged his hunt?"

"That's possible?"

"Technically yes, but that wasn't supposed to happen so early,"

Sangmin mumbled, looking at his current status.

"He chose [Galahad of the Holy Grail] as his new [Avatar] though,"

"That [Avatar]?"

"Shouldn't that be impossible? The other Knights of the Round are greyed out,"

"[Galahad]'s interest in Hyunsuh could result in him giving more strength to Hyunsuh even if he isn't ready for it yet,"

"I guess so, I guess that's why he has the limitations,"

"I guess you're right,"

Sangmin mumbled, getting up, planning to clock out.

"Where are you going?"

"Home? I'm here way after I'm supposed to, I'm tired,"

"Oh, I guess you're right,"

Suyoung agreed, looking at the time and getting up.

"Are you positive?"

"That's what my skill said, now payment."

"The name of the player?"

"Don't know."

"The level of the player?"

"Low."

At the vague statement, Claire clicked her tongue before sighing and taking out money from her inventory.

Dropping a bag of coins big enough to make the average person drool, the person left the seer's tent.

"How was Oracle?"

"A person has started the Act 2 Main Scenario,"

"Really? Are you sure she said that, Guild Master?"

"Yes, I'm pretty sure I don't have malfunctioning ears, Prince"

Eyebrow raised, Prince opened his mouth for a swift retort.

"Well you never know, you are hotheaded, right? Mond?"

"Don't drag me into an argument with you and Claire,"

Mond responded, sharpening his blade.

Claire's face turned serious, opening her mouth to speak.

"We have to get the upper hand for this Act 2 Main Scenario, we can't let [The Round Table] gain an even more of a upper hand, or we'll be left in the dust."

"I mean, but [Kaleidoscope] isn't that far off from us either,"

Prince, added.

"Monopolizing the Act 2 Main Scenario could lead our [White Feather] guild to be closer to [The Round Table]."

Mond finished, getting the nods of the other two.

"So did you get any information on who started the Act 2 Main Scenario?"

"Only that their level was low,"

"Damn, at least it lowers the areas he could be,"

Prince mumbled.

"Let's tell the other guild members to start investigating the beginner training grounds and the beginning town,"

Claire said, putting an announcement in the Guild Chat.

"Okay,"

Prince nodded.

"I'll also-"

"No, you're getting to Level 240 by the end of the day Prince,"

"Damn it," Prince sulked, before walking away.

"Mond, come with me, we'll also have to look for the person who started the Act 2 Main Scenario."

"Roger that,"

Mond said, walking with Claire to the [Warping Center].
