It was unknown if he would survive but a chance was in front of him.
The nanoparticles in the creatures were what humans could harvest to improve their Nano Spirit.
Few methods were available to improve the power of a Nano Spirit and most of the available options had been developed and monopolised.
It was impossible for anyone to get ahold of them and the only other available option was to hunt the creatures that possessed the nanoparticles inside of them.
If humanity wished to survive then they had to come out as the superior species once again as they would have to overcome the threat they faced.
Nano Pet users usually did not possess the ability to kill the creatures on their own and if they were with a group, they would not be given the chance to gain the nanoparticles to help improve their abilities.
Nano Pet users rarely went out into dangerous places unless they were truly desperate and even if they did, they would not go alone.
They would need a group to rely on but when it came to who monopolized the spoils of battle then it would be the others.
If there had been cases where Nano Pet users were allowed to gain some nanoparticles then it was not something that happened often enough for it to be known to others.
The small black cat pounced over toward the creature as the nanoparticles separated from the dead flesh.
Whatever bonded it together no longer existed and it would remain by the corpse until it was either absorbed or dispersed.
Most humans would usually use such a time to summon their Nano Spirit and move it into that area so that they could allow it to be absorbed.
Depending on the compatibility or synchronicity rate, the absorption rate would be smoother allowing more of it to be absorbed before it fully dispersed from the area.
If there was a lot to absorb then it would usually be shared among the group so that they could make full use of it and let everyone absorb as much of it as possible before it was all gone.
It could be considered a shame that Holo Pet users faced the kind of discrimination that they did which caused them to be unable to utilize such a precious resource.
Edgar could not let go of it when it was right in front of him and there was nobody around no matter what dire situation he was in.
The small black cat entered the cloud of nanoparticles that gathered in the area as it began absorbing it.
It was the first time he had ever gained such an opportunity so he would not let go of such an opportunity no matter what.
He wanted something good to come out of it.
There had to be some form of hope for himself and even if it was not for him then it could be for the next generation.
Edgar began to grit his teeth as he pulled some packs from his bag placing one against his bleeding abdomen.
The moment that it touched his skin, it made a sound and he let out a grunt of pain.
The wound was pushed back together as it was sealed and covered quickly.
He did the same for his severed arm which was losing a lot of blood causing his wound to be temporarily treated.
What he used were advanced wound packs that would be effective for closing off wounds but they could only be considered as a temporary measure for those who would be inflicted with such wounds.
It was similar to how some would cauterize a wound as a temporary measure when they did not have the time to get to a medic or doctor.
A doctor would still be needed to look over the damage done to his body and he would still need other treatments like a portion of blood to keep him from dying.
He had already lost a lot of blood and the current method was mainly effective so that he would not lose any more and bleed out any longer.
He moved toward the creature that died and grabbed onto his severed arm before finding something attached to it that was a device that looked like a wristwatch or some kind of band.
After picking it up, he found a place to sit down as he weakly moved around.
His eyes closed and a screen appeared before his eyes.
[Name: Nero
Type: Black Cat
Grade: 0
Talent: 53%
Synchronicity Rate: 0%]
[Nero has gained 1% Synchronicity!]
[Nero has gained 1% Synchronicity!]
[Nero has gained 1% Synchronicity!]
Everyone who had a Nano Spirit could see the details of it through their connection allowing them to know about such details.
The only other method to know about it was to use the inventions created to identify them.
Each time that the black cat that he assigned the name Nero absorbed the nanoparticles, the synchronicity rate rose by another percentage as it started to rise rapidly.
His talent was at 53% which showed that his body and Holo Spirit were quite compatible and talented but were not considered as the best possible talent.
It was still enough to let him see a quick rise in power as he monopolized the nanoparticles of the creature that did not seem to be an ordinary grade that could be found anywhere.
The talent affected the absorption speed but also the limit to what grade could be achieved since it would be harder to nurture those with a lower talent with the higher grade of nanoparticles they absorbed.
His synchronicity seemed to rise quickly due to his having a decent talent that was within the range of being able to absorb the quality and amount of nanoparticles that were available to him.
Multiple alerts kept appearing in his interface as it was rising past the halfway mark and kept moving.
Edgar could feel that he did not have long left to live and he was weak.
It was unlikely that he would be able to make it out alive so he began recording what he experienced on the device he had as he began to record a message that would be transmitted back to those he cared for.
He kept typing and typing with each small amount of strength that remained in his body using the remaining hand he had left.
[Nero has achieved 100% Synchronicity!]
[Nero is beginning evolution to Grade 1!]
[Evolution process is beginning!]
[Evolution process: 1%]
[Evolution process: 25%]
Edgar continued to compile as much information as he could while he watched over everything that took place.
As the evolution was happening and reaching its completion, Edgar watched on as the tiny black cat grew in size and looked a little more fierce than before. "Hahahaha! So this is it! I guess we are not completely hopeless after all! There is hope!"
He continued to watch on and record everything until the nanoparticle cloud was gone.
The messages he sent would reach their destination one by one as he wanted.
His life ended not too long after and Nero followed along with him since its life was tied to him causing the nanoparticles to be dispersed once more.
Edgar passed away and he would probably not be missed by many nor would he be remembered but he was able to pass on an inheritance that could aid those who needed it.
