Chapter 5 - Building

One man put an end to an era as he pushed the new era forward.

That era opened up an age where it became survival of the fittest.

It was no longer about who had the most resources, connections, money, and power.

What mattered most was who was willing to fight for something whether it was for their survival, power, or whatever else it was they desired.

Some followed a need while others followed a desire.

Some wished to maintain the power they held before as they frantically tried to adjust to the changes brought forth to the world.

Others kept fighting in the hopes of escaping their terrible circumstances and some others fought to change their lives for the better.

Human power struggles and division would always be a big issue no matter what era it was.

Even when faced with the present dangers, many human civilizations were not able to pull together in time.

Those who fought on the front lines were the first to understand how they could seize power and be able to fight back against the threat.

The world soon became full of heroes who took on the threat of the many evolved creatures and when they returned successful, they would become stronger after allowing their Nano Spirit to evolve.

Each Nano Spirit was connected to the body of the host and returned once they were called back.

They were summoned out only during times of combat or for other reasons but once they remained in the body, the nanoparticles would begin to affect the human body.

Just like how the Nano Spirit would upgrade from increasing the synchronicity to one hundred percent, their human host would receive benefits from it too.

Their physical body would undergo a process of enhancement as they adapted to the larger amount of nanoparticles in their body.

The process could take some time to achieve and it was heavily dependent on what kind of talent they possessed.

If their bodies were not very compatible then they would one day hit the limit to how much further they could continue to evolve and how much more nanoparticles they could take into their body.

The design the scientist came up with was to allow for each human to be able to evolve but at a stable rate that suited them without any harm coming to them.

If it started to become more stressful to evolve their bodies and Nano Spirit then there had to be limitations to how much they could absorb.

The absorbing process would slow down a great deal and if it reached a critical level where it could become harmful to the user then they would no longer be able to absorb any until the danger no longer remained.

There were several people to made a great impact during the new era but there was one in particular who did something for a very small amount of people that could never be forgotten.

A small orphanage located on the very outskirts of a human settlement was where they remembered that man and received his inheritance.

What he gave them all was hope.

Hope that they will have a brighter future.

Hope that they had a chance.

Hope that they will not be useless forever.

That hope caused the children being brought up in such poor circumstances to survive by holding onto something important to each of them.

The message sent to the children became a closely guarded secret that they would work toward learning more about.

There was not enough information but it was a start.

The children did not have the same schooling as other children so they had to learn everything on their own.

Just like the others before them, they needed to go through a lot of trial and error for them to be able to improve what they had.

The children became men and women who ventured beyond the safety of the walls protecting them.

Some ventured out alone, some with a party of their own, and some joined other teams with the hope of being able to achieve something.

Many lives were lost over that time since they were not as prepared to be able to deal with the threats of the outside world but all of them made vows that they shared with those in the orphanage.

They would do their best to pass on what little knowledge they had and whatever they could use as a form of inheritance to the orphanage children of the next generation.

Perhaps they already knew that they would not be able to achieve anything themselves but they still tried while making preparations for their time of death and using their final moments to try to pass on what they could like Edgar did.

New groups of the next generation ventured out beyond the walls after them and after that, so did the next generation after that.

They had something to prove and could not give up.

They wanted to prove that they were not useless to everyone who always mocked them and they wanted to prove it to themselves too.

Perhaps some just wanted to spite the parents who threw them away for being useless.

Those who ventured out and continued surviving and improving themselves would make visits to the younger generation passing on new lessons they learned whether it was hunting patterns and other things related to the creatures or weapons training.

Others who had gained a better understanding of their Holo Pets passed on their knowledge to the younger generation as much as they possibly could allowing for new ways of using them to be utilized.

Some special Holo Pet users appeared at times whether it was the kind of Holo Pet they had or the level of talent they possessed but not every one of them could be so lucky to achieve the dream they set out for.

They either were not born at the right time or the circumstances surrounding them would just not allow them to survive long enough to make full use of their potential.

Those born much later were the ones who would have more useful information and methods available to them once the combined efforts of the previous generations would have done enough to reach greater achievements.

That inheritance that started so long ago continued to be built upon the sacrifices of so many others as more time passed but it continued to remain a part of the orphanage's heritage.

It was never passed on to any outsider and it was waiting for the day that one among the children who were brought there would be able to achieve something big.
