Chapter 7 - Chapter 7:Burning Desire

Scott's life had been irrevocably altered, but he clung to the hope that, with time, he and David might find a way to heal.

Each day was a struggle, a constant battle against the darkness that threatened to consume him. Yet, through it all, Scott remained resolute. He had to be. For David.

In the quiet moments, when David was asleep and the world seemed still, Scott would sit alone, letting the waves of grief wash over him.

The memories of his parents, their laughter, their love, were both a comfort and a source of unbearable pain.

He would replay their last moments, the chaos, the police sirens, the cold detachment of Thomas and Michael. It was a nightmare he couldn't escape.

Despite his uncles' supposed help, Scott sensed an underlying tension. Thomas and Michael's actions seemed driven more by appearances than genuine care.

They offered assistance with the funeral, but their interactions with Scott and David were strained and distant.

Scott couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to their behavior, something hidden beneath their facade.

The funeral was a small, somber affair. Friends and neighbors gathered to pay their respects, offering condolences and support. Scott stood by David's side, holding his hand tightly, drawing strength from the simple act of being there for his brother.

He watched as his parents were laid to rest, the finality of it all hitting him with crushing force.

After the funeral, Scott faced the daunting task of rebuilding their lives. He took on the role of both brother and guardian, ensuring David's needs were met while grappling with his own grief. School, meals, bedtime stories – these became his new routine, a way to keep going, to find purpose in the midst of sorrow.

Slowly, Scott and David began to adapt to their new reality. The pain didn't lessen, but they learned to live with it, to find moments of joy amidst the heartache.

They leaned on each other, their bond growing stronger with each passing day. In the face of unimaginable loss, they found a glimmer of hope, a reason to keep moving forward.

Scott vowed to honor his parents' memory by raising David with the same love and kindness they had shown.

He would protect his brother, guide him, and ensure that, despite the darkness that had befallen them, their lives would be filled with light. And in doing so, Scott discovered a resilience within himself he never knew existed, a strength born from love and an unwavering commitment to family.

One morning, Michael went to Thomas's house to celebrate what they had done. As they were celebrating, Scott left the house to ask them for money for food.

When scott arrived at his uncle Thomas's house, he overheard them discussing how their plan went smoothly without any trace.

Thomas asked Michael if he had paid their accomplices the remaining balance, and Michael confirmed he had.

Scott reached the front door to knock when he overheard them admitting to the murder of their own brother.

Scott was in deep shock. He wanted to knock, but to avoid being noticed, he rushed out without making a sound.

Thomas sensed someone's presence in the house but couldn't identify who it was. Michael's ignorance made him laugh, and he said, "Come, let's enjoy. Nobody is there."

But Thomas's mind was restless because of what he felt. Michael asked, "So, what is our next plan?"

Scott went home in tears, unable to believe what he had heard. As he thought about it, he resolved that they would pay for what they had done.

The revelation weighed heavily on Scott's heart, a burden almost too great to bear. But he couldn't afford to crumble. David needed him now more than ever, and Scott knew he had to be strong—for both of them.

Scott's mind raced with the implications of what he had overheard.

Thomas and Michael, his own uncles, were responsible for his parents' deaths. It was a betrayal of the highest order, and Scott's grief began to transform into a cold, focused rage. He couldn't go to the police with just an overheard conversation.

He needed proof—evidence that would ensure justice was served.

Determined to uncover the truth, Scott began to watch his uncles more closely. He noted their movements, their interactions, and any suspicious behavior. He started documenting everything in a journal, detailing times, dates, and conversations. His resolve to protect David was now intertwined with a burning desire to see justice done.

Scott was now looking forward to avenging the death of his family, so he had to think outside the box.

Now the uncles of Scott wanted to frustrate the children of their late brother. Thomas and Michael went to their house to ask them for the document of the land. When they got to the house, Scott was just coming in as well. He greeted them, not allowing them to know that he now knew they were responsible for his parents' deaths.

Scott asked, "Uncle Thomas, what are you looking for here?"

Thomas answered, "Can't I come and check up on you again?"

Scott looked with so much anger in his heart. "So, what are your plans now that your parents are no longer with you?" said Thomas.

Scott was still looking for a way to tell him how he overheard him saying how he killed his brother, Scott's father.

He had to subside his anger and wait for the right time.

He looked at his uncle and answered, "Well, Uncle, I am still saving so that I and my brother can feed and go to school."

Thomas said to him, "School? How will you be able to do that when you don't have anything? Let me give you a piece of advice: go and work. Stop thinking about school, okay?"

Scott said in his mind, "You killed my parents, and now you think you can get away with it. I promise I will come for you. Then you will not know what hit you."
