Scott was still happy about the opportunity, so he went home and told David about his new appointment. After they finished eating, David was happy for him too.
"So, when will you start?" David asked.
Scott smiled and said, "I haven't started yet, but soon."
Scott looked at him and asked, "How was school today?"
David answered, "School was fine today. Can you imagine? I answered a question in class!"
Scott responded, "Really? Wow, that's good to hear!" He then asked, "What do you want to be in the future?"
David smiled and said, "Have you forgotten so soon? I wanted to become a doctor, but now I want to become a lawyer.
I want to protect people from this wicked world that thinks it can bring us pain."
Scott, breathing deeply, said, "That's a good choice. You have to promise me that you'll take your studies seriously, okay? I'll work hard to make sure you go to school."
David answered, "Yes, I promise. I will never let you down."
That evening, Scott picked up his phone and called Mr. Lin Yu.
"Good evening, sir. It's me, Scott. You gave me your business card today," Scott said.
"Oh, how are you doing, Scott?" Mr. Lin Yu replied.
"I'm fine, sir. I'm calling about the job, sir."
"Okay, you can come to the office. When you get there, show them the card.
It's a special guest card, so the secretary will take you to my office. Okay, don't be late," Mr. Lin Yu instructed.
"Okay, sir. Thank you. I'm grateful," Scott answered. They both wished each other good night and went to bed.
The next morning, David was on his way to school. "Good luck on your interview," he told Scott before leaving for school.
Scott rushed out of the house, locked the door, and went straight to the office.
Reaching the front of the office, he saw a bouncer who did not let him enter without an invitation. So, he brought out the card and showed it to them.
They looked at each other and said, "This is the boss's invitation card." Now they knew the boss had invited him, so they let him pass.
He went straight to the receptionist. In the process of asking, the secretary walked past and saw him with the invitation card. Immediately, she asked him, "How did you get that card?"
He said, "Mr. Lin Yu gave it to me."
The secretary said, "Okay, come with me." She then asked, "What's your name?"
He answered, "Scott."
"Okay," she said. She went straight to Mr. Lin Yu's office and came out shortly after. "He said you should come in."
When Scott went in, Mr. Lin Yu was very happy to see him. Scott said, "Good morning, sir."
Mr. Lin Yu replied, "Morning, Scott. Have a seat."
"I want to employ you here to be my eyes in this office. That is your job description. Immediately I saw you, you looked like a son to me, so I decided to help you. But nevertheless, you will soon understand how we run the business around here, okay?" Scott replied, "Yes, sir."
Mr. Lin Yu called the secretary to be in charge of Scott and teach him whatever he needed to learn, but not yet to reveal the secrets of the ongoing business.
Scott had to prove his worth first before learning about the deeper aspects of the business. Their journey together began successfully. At the end of the day, when Mr. Lin Yu was leaving the office, he saw Scott and asked a guard to call him.
When Scott approached the car, Mr. Lin Yu offered him a ride home. Scott initially refused, saying he would take public transport, but Mr. Lin Yu insisted, and Scott had no choice but to accept the ride.
On their way home, they talked, and Mr. Lin Yu suddenly asked about Scott's parents. Scott's mood changed immediately, and Mr. Lin Yu noticed.
Tears began to form in Scott's eyes as he said, "My parents are both dead.
They were murdered, and now I'm only left with my little brother, David. He's in school, and I've been taking care of him since my parents passed away." Mr. Lin Yu said, "I'm sorry about that, okay?"
When they reached Scott's destination, Scott thanked Mr. Lin Yu for the ride and wished him a good evening.
Mr. Lin Yu asked the head guard to gather all the details about Scott and his family while Scott waved goodbye as they drove off.
On his way home, Mr. Lin Yu received a business call. They diverted the vehicle straight to an abandoned building where all necessary business was conducted.
Exiting the vehicle with three bodyguards, two of whom went inside with him, they met with one of his dealers.
The dealer explained that a deal involving eight million worth of cocaine with a Russian client, Mr. Shawn, had been ambushed by rivals, causing chaos and mistrust.
Mr. Lin Yu was furious about what had happened. His phone rang again; it was Mr. Shawn, furious and unwilling to continue doing business with him.
In his anger, Mr. Lin Yu shot one of his gang members who spoke out of turn. He ordered his men to find the rival, De Brown, and left the building, entering his vehicle and driving off.
Scott entered the house and saw his uncles, Thomas and Michael, along with his brother David. Immediately, David ran to welcome him.
"Good evening, Uncle Thomas and Uncle Michael," Scott said. They replied, "Good evening, Scott. It's been a year since your parents died, and we've come to see how you and David are doing." Scott responded, "We're okay, as you can see."
Thomas then said, "The oil company that took over the land has started drilling. We came to give you this money." Scott, with anger building inside him, replied, "Take your money back.
We don't need it. I promised my father I wouldn't involve myself with that land problem, but that doesn't mean their killers will go unpunished.
I, Scott, will make them pay for what they have done, and my face will be the last thing they see on this earth."
Thomas and Michael exchanged worried looks. Thomas said, "Scott, you shouldn't let anger consume you."
Now the question is: Scott is doing well, but can he execute his plan knowing who his parents' killers are?
