"I told you, you have to be prepared for what is to come, but first, you have to lay low for the moment," said Mr. Lin Yu, his voice filled with both caution and reassurance.
Scott stepped out of the car, his eyes widening as he took in the sight of Mr. Lin Yu's empire. The multi-billion dollar company was a marvel of sleek, modern architecture, bustling with activity that spoke of success and innovation. The glass buildings towered above, reflecting the sunlight and casting a radiant glow over the meticulously manicured grounds. As he approached, a group of employees gathered outside, forming a welcoming committee to greet him.
"Wow, what an empire," Scott murmured to himself, absorbing the magnitude of the achievement before him. The scale and grandeur of the place were almost overwhelming.
A business partner approached with a warm smile, extending his hand. "Welcome, Scott. We're excited to have you here. Mr. Lin Yu has high hopes for this partnership."
Scott shook his hand firmly, feeling the weight of the moment. "Thank you. I'm eager to see what we can accomplish together."
Inside, the building was just as impressive. Sleek, contemporary designs and a palpable sense of purpose and drive permeated the space. The employees seemed genuinely pleased to see him, their respect and curiosity evident.
"I never knew he had a great son like you," said Mr. Robert, the business partner, with a friendly smile.
Scott smiled back, feeling a sense of pride and determination. "Thank you, Mr. Robert. I'm looking forward to contributing to the company's success."
Mr. Robert's smile widened. "We're very eager to make things even better. It's time to take you to the house," he said. They left in the car, and during the drive, Mr. Robert handed Scott a document.
"Mr. Lin Yu directed me to give this to you," he said, his tone serious.
Scott took the document, feeling its weight in his hands and growing curious about its contents. Upon arriving at their destination, they got out and went inside.
The house was a masterpiece of luxury and comfort, with grand architecture and elegant furnishings. "I never knew he had a house like this here. Wow, it's amazing," Scott said, marveling at the opulence.
Staff members were ready to serve him at any moment, adding to the surreal luxury. Scott was now living a life of luxury, but he knew it came with great responsibility. The journey ahead was bound to be challenging, but he felt ready, bolstered by the support and legacy of Mr. Lin Yu.
"What's in the document?" Scott asked Mr. Robert, curiosity piqued.
Once Mr. Robert left, Scott opened the document. What he found inside shocked him.
The next morning, Scott's phone rang while he was still sleeping. He immediately got up and answered, "Hello, who is this?"
"How? So, Scott, you don't save my number?" said the voice on the other end, a smile evident in the tone.
Scott laughed, recognizing the voice. "David! You think I wouldn't recognize you, right?" They both laughed over the phone. "You're now a man, David."
David asked about their uncles, Michael and Thomas, but Scott avoided the topic, waving it off. Instead, he asked David about his studies and when he would be coming back.
After a lengthy conversation, Scott got out of bed for his morning exercises. As he went through his routine, thoughts of the document lingered in his mind.
Mr. Lin Yu called him before he left for the office. "Scott, you're going to the office to take over from me. You will manage all my property in the States very well. I have taught you all you need to know, and you have to be careful about the decisions you make, okay?"
Scott said, "Yes, sir." He came out of the mansion, where a fleet of cars was waiting to take him to the office.
Scott was now living a luxurious life.
When he got to the company, the board members were having a meeting to introduce him as the new General Manager. But his role was more than that; he was undercover for the boss to carry out their usual drug business.
Scott entered the boardroom, greeted by a round of applause and welcoming smiles. The atmosphere was formal, but there was an underlying tension that he couldn't ignore. Taking his seat at the head of the table, he felt the weight of his new responsibilities settle heavily on his shoulders.
Mr. Lin Yu stood up to address the room. "Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Scott Lin, our new General Manager. He will be overseeing our operations here and bringing fresh energy to our endeavors."
The board members nodded approvingly, though some more genuine than others. Scott thanked them, promising to uphold the company's values and drive it to new heights. But beneath the surface, he knew his real task was far more dangerous.
After the meeting, Mr Robert pulled Scott aside. "Remember, the drug business is our hidden lifeline. You must keep it discreet while ensuring it thrives. Trust no one completely, not even those closest to you."
Scott nodded, understanding the gravity of his role. He spent the rest of the day familiarizing himself with the company's operations, meeting department heads, and reviewing reports. Every interaction was an opportunity to learn and to observe who might be trustworthy.
