Chapter 29 - Epic Battle (2)

He already had a bad premonition when the situation turned worse. Though the frequency of the prompt from the System had dwindled in this adventure, the danger seemed to have increased in turn. Heizen was already ready to receive such notification.

Putting those thoughts aside this time, he followed the team closely.

The group was heading steadily outside the Obisidian Bastion ruin but the Golem behind was pursuing them relentlessly. It was already on their tail as evident from its heavy footstep.

Heizen looked at the monster while running with his team.

[Name: Obsidian Golem (Subordinate Of Vulkarion)]

[Race: None (Construct)]

[Level: 17]

[Potential: None (Fixed entity)]

[Skill: Seismic Stomp, Obsidian Armor, Crushing Blow, Power surge]

[Power Surge: Exclusive skill of Subordinate of Vulkarion.

Effect: Temporarily increase Golem's strength, speed, and stamina with the help of Obsidian Heart.

Duration: 5 minute]

"Except for the extra skill and higher level, it doesn't seem that powerful." Heizen was just thinking when he saw the chest of the Golem glowing faintly and his intuition crazily began to warn him.

"Disperse," he yelled. He reacted quickly and trusted his intuition. He separated from the team to the side and jumped out of the area.

His teammates also reacted to his shout and ran aside.

"Arcane Barrior," Sarah reflexively chanted the defense spell while getting aside.

"Boom," suddenly the Golem which was still far away from them appeared almost immediately and stumped their former place with devastating force. The floor that wasn't even scratched before got cracked in multiple places.

If they were a step slower, they would be severely injured even if they didn't die. The team was still in shock when they woke up after hearing Heizen's shout.

"Elderwood's Wrath." A thick thorny vine appeared from the crack on the ground and began to bind the leg of the Golem. Heizen was quick to react since he knew he must kill this monster.

Seeing him taking action, his companion also began to take their position. However, this fight wasn't as easy as before.

"Swoosh," just by lifting its foot, the Golem broke the multiple vines around him. Within the 5-minute skill time, its strength, speed, and stamina had increased greatly.

"Bang," the ground around them began to distort and shake with the Seismic Stomp. It was difficult to hold their position and fight in such a situation.

They could barely cope with its attack with the help of Bowen's arrow who had already retreated to the safe space.

Heizen looked at their situation and made a prompt decision. He first commanded the vine to lend a hand to Bernard and the girls to maintain their balance while hindering the movement of Golem. He then activated his active skill with full force while holding the Eclipse blade in his hand.

"Raging Strike,"

"Ghost step,"

He disappeared and appeared next to the leg where Bowen had fired his arrow before. A white crescent light swept with a massive force making loud noises.

His companions quickly caught up with his idea and began to fight with full force.

"Power Strike," Bernard swept with his sword after seeing the chance.

However, the speed of the Golem in this state was incomparable to other compatriots. The Golem quickly turned its massive body and performed a crushing blow at Bernard.

"Arcane barrier," Suddenly a blue shield appeared in between them reducing the speed and strength of the blow. This time the barrier seemed more solid.

Heizen looked at Sarah who was holding the Gale orb in some kind of apparatus and firing her spell continuously.

Sophie was also firing her strongest spell, Inferno Blast, whenever she had the chance. Everyone was going all out.

However, no matter how they fight, this time they couldn't avoid getting injured. Bernard was already covered with bruises all over his body. His left shoulder was dented by a powerful blow.

Heizen wasn't in a good condition either. His arm was almost crushed in an impact. Furthermore, they also needed to take care of the girls. Sarah's Arcane Barriror played a huge role. Although she could only deploy one spell throughout the fight, it was the most important one.

Though the situation wasn't optimistic, fortunately, the skill duration was coming to an end as the glow on the chest of the Obsidian Golem was getting fainter. Furthermore, with the help of Bowen's arrow, they were able to find and injure the weak spot.

After fighting for around seven minutes continuously with high output, they finally managed to kill the Golem. Well, if the Golem hadn't been weakened after five minutes, they would be dead instead. This was the most dangerous fight they had ever fought.

"Hah, hah," everyone was exhausted. Not only was their body exhausted, but their supply of mana potion was also exhausted.

Heizen was breathing heavily. However, he still walked to the body and dug out the Obsidian Heart. It looked like a deep black gemstone which was warm when touched.

[Name: Obsidian Heart (Golem Core)]

[Effect: Best core material to make a puppet. Can be used in an array or make an artifact.]

After briefly looking at the item, Heizen put it inside his ring and walked towards his companion. This fight had already worn out everyone's spirit. Moreover, Heizen had a foreboding feeling lately.

So, he was thinking of leaving this place sooner. Moreover, their supply ran out in one fight, and fighting in this condition was an extremely unwise decision.

He first came near Bernard and began to use "Vital Surge" to heal his wound. The dented shoulder quickly restored its original shape.

"Thank You!" Bernard thanked him after seeing his spell.

Heizen nodded and applied the spell to his wounded arm. However, just when his arm got healed, the Insignia of Goddess of Life glowed faintly and absorbed the aura around him.

This was the first time he saw the insignia showing abnormal movement. So, he paid close attention to it. But besides glowing faintly for a while, there was nothing wrong with it.

Just then, Heizen suddenly remembered something and thought, "System, show the status panel."
