Chapter 32 - Mistress Of Shadows-Melaphine

Heizen was busy looking at the prompt from the system, so he didn't pay much attention to the voice in his mind. But Melaphine saw this as a blatant disregard for her.

A mere mortal had so much pride that he directly ignored her offer. A voice filled with endless coldness echoed through the entire chamber.

"Since you don't know how to behave, let me first punish your impudence."

The aura in the entire chamber began to boil violently. The darkness swallowed everything and the figure in a dark robe around the Altar began to move in their way.

Bernard and others only heard the last sentence before the environment worsened. They were trying to find the information, but they couldn't even see the basic level.

The Mana-Monocle wasn't working, and the aura was pressing on their bodies mercilessly. This was the difference in life level. They couldn't even show their full strength in front of such a being as if the mere act would blaspheme its existence.

"Spells aren't working either. Only the Gale Orb can help cast the Arcane Barrier," Sarah said in trepidation.

Bowen also checked his arrow, which was of no use without explosive properties.

The dark-robed figures were already in front of them with their sickle-like weapons.

"Arcane Barrier," Sarah still cast the spell with her Gale Orb to buy some time.

Bernard was already ready with his sword. His body was still quite powerful without using mana.

"How could a projection of the Lord-level power appear here? No, you cannot use spells inside its domain. You can only use your bloodline." Suddenly an anxious voice was heard from the side.

Sophie, who was analyzing everything around her, quickly concluded. She hurriedly took out a pill from her ring and put it in her mouth.

Suddenly, the air around her began to become hot. Her hair began to turn fiery red, just like flames, while body armor quickly covered her figure from top to bottom.

"Oh, a blood bearer. But you haven't awakened it yet. Not enough."

The voice was slightly surprised and then returned to a lazy tone.

"Swoosh," the dark-robed figure began to attack everyone around except Heizen. The team struggled to parry the attacks. Against their shots, the Arcane Barrier wasn't enough.

Only Sophie was fighting hard with the opponent. However, the situation worsened when multiple figures began to attack her.

On the other hand, the figure on the Altar seemed to be enjoying the show. She could easily kill these ants, but that wouldn't be fun. Let's kill all the Deathwalker's companions to make him repent. She had no use for a pretentious subordinate.

"Stop, Stop, Stop." Suddenly Heizen's shout was heard throughout the chamber.

"Oh, did you make your choice," Melaphine waved her hand to recall all the dark-robed figures. She was still interested in this mortal who could trick death.

After seeing that the fight had stopped, Heizen composed himself and looked in the direction of the Altar.

"Miss Melaphine, your humble servant was merely dazzled by your extraordinary charm. He wasn't pretentious enough to deny your offer." He bowed and showed the greatest courtesy he had learned from drama.

Heizen was sweating profusely. His back was soaked with sweat. It wasn't easy to talk with such a being comparable to gods. He hadn't forgotten his death at the hands of Gadrakh yet.

Well, he died from a single snort, but whatever.

"Oh, are you sure? But why did I feel like you are ignoring my offer." The voice asked, amused.

"This servant asks for your forgiveness, my lord. I am a Deathwalker, so how can I deny your offer?" Heizen said humbly.

He didn't know what Deathwalker was, but hearing the name it must had something to do with his death. Moreover, this being was a demon from the abyss, so the whole puzzle adds up.

"So, do you want to serve under this Mistress of Shadows?" The cold voice asked straight to the point without amusing him.

Heizen gathered his thoughts and replied as humbly as possible. He was bad at acting and was afraid he would fuck this up.

"Oh, Mistress of Shadows. How could this humble mortal deny your request? It is my fortune to become your subordinate. But I have this small request I hope the mistress can help me fulfill."

By the time he finished talking, his voice had gotten lower and lower.

Bernard, Bowen, and the girls around him were looking at him in bewilderment. They had never thought that Heizen could act like that.

If it were another situation, they would have laughed, but the conditions here didn't allow it. Moreover, the conversation between them was beyond their understanding.

"Hmph, don't play this trick with me. You must want to release your friends as a bargain. Once you pledge your loyalty, I will allow them to be your slave." Melaphine snorted in disdain. This mortal was becoming increasingly outrageous in his acting.

Heizen was embarrassed; his acting skills impressed no one. But it wasn't over yet.

Heizen suddenly showed a face full of realization and began to laugh.

"Haha hahaha, you are right lord. Hahaha, you are absolutely right." His face began to become crazy and his eyes showed a pious gaze that was too similar to those of brainwashed cult members.

Both his companion and Melaphine were completely confused by his behavior. Now, they didn't even know if he was acting or crazy.

"Lord, you are right. I, as your subordinate, how can I have them as companions? They'd better be my slaves."

While talking, he showed a lecherous smile towards Sarah and Sophie. It was as if he would eat them to the bone. Sarah and Sophie both shuddered at his antics. They were now completely confused by his crazy behavior.

"Sure enough, how can those who died multiple times be sane?" Melaphine thought.

Heizen was now fully in a crazed mood. He bowed deeply towards Melaphine and said in an excited tone,

"My lord, I accept your offer. I will be your best subordinate ever. However, I have only one request." He said while showing utmost fanaticism in his face.

Melaphine was kinda overwhelmed by this mortal. She had never cared about the mortal realm before. She didn't know that they could be this crazy, but she still nodded.

"Tell me your wish."

Heizen showed a lecherous smile on his face while looking at her figure from head to toe. He smiled and said,

"My lord, if you want, I will be your slave. I will follow whatever you say. B-But I have only one request." Heizen swallowed his saliva exaggeratedly and said,

"Can I... Can I hug you?"

"Ah?"
