Chapter 31 - Cosmic Insight

[Ding!]

[The skill Cosmic Insight is canceled.]

[Ding!]

[The Mythical artifact-Eye of the Ancients is overdrawn and damaged. You can no longer use its function without repair.]

[Since you have full authority, you can try to repair it with the corresponding treasure.]

Heizen was awakened by the continuous notifications from the System. He was still at the same place under the Archway. His head was throbbing especially around his Glabella.

Listening to the prompt from the System, his mood became solemn.

"Heizen," just then he saw Sarah waving at him.

He quickly caught up and was about to recall his experience when Sarah asked him first.

"What did you get from the Obsidian Golem?" She curiously asked.

Hearing this, he didn't know why he took out the Obsidian Heart from his ring. Maybe, he wanted to confirm something.

"Obsidian Heart. No wonder that Golem was so powerful." Sarah said from the side.

"That's what I thought. Even if the monster was in level 17, it can't be so powerful like that." Bernard said while walking.

Heizen was perplexed. He now understood that they were in great danger. What he saw before must be the future vision skill of the Eye of the Ancients.

"What happened? Are you ok?" Sarah worriedly asked after seeing him distracted.

Looking at her, his mind was in chaos. But, he still replied after a while, "I am just tired from all the fighting."

Heizen didn't know what to do. He couldn't possibly say he saw their future.

Moreover, that entity had already locked them since the path they were walking was quite different the moment they left Obsidian Bastion. Exposing his vision would instead push them into more danger.

Sure enough, he saw Berand stop suddenly and he heard his voice just like before.

"Something doesn't seem right." He said and began to check his surroundings.

"What happened?" Sarah asked after he returned.

"This isn't the path we walked before," Bernard said with an ugly look.

Everyone around Heizen began to become restless. Heizen thought for a while and didn't suggest to return this time.

After everyone calmed down their trepidation, they began to think of strategy.

At the end, Sarah said, "Let's just follow the path. Maybe we would return to the way we came before." She said in a small voice a little unsure.

However, all of them could only do that as they didn't know what was happening.

Bernard and Heizen walked in the front while the rest of the group followed behind.

Heizen was thinking about the vision he had just now. Just like the insight he received, the temperature around the chamber was beginning to drop rapidly. Moreover, some Whispering Shadows began to appear.

"No, we seem to be heading closer to the depth," Bernard said after seeing the situation.

Even when he didn't suggest to return to Obsidian Bastion, the situation was still the same. Which means, someone was targeting them or targeting him.

He was sure that the dark robbed person surrounding the Altar was similar to the one he saw on the market. This means he was on the opponent's radar for at least a week. However, he didn't know why he was being targeted.

Heizen's mood became solemn. He didn't want to expose his friends to danger because of him. But he couldn't explain to them, at least not here.

With a complicated mood, he followed his companion toward the uncertainty. He hoped that this path wouldn't lead to that chamber. However, today his hope was destined to be dashed.

Suddenly, just like he had seen before, their team inexplicably arrived at a dark chamber. The dim light, and the dark robbed figure surrounding the Altar which was engraved with multiple ancient runes that seemed to be alive, were exactly the same.

However, this time something was different. Previously, he could only see a dancing shadow in his vision but now he saw a person standing on the Altar looking leisurely at him.

A tall, elegant figure draped in robes woven from pure shadow while her body looked like dissolving in darkness. He still couldn't see her face but he was sure she was looking at him.

Suddenly he heard a series of prompts from the System.

[Ding!]

[You entered a temporary dungeon-Shadowed Altar.]

[Kill the projection of Mistress of Shadows-Melaphine to clear the dungeon.]

[Ding!]

[You are inside the Authority domain of Melaphine.]

[All the spells devoid of Authority are invalid.]

A dim blue status screen appeared in his vision.

[Name: Melaphine - Mistress of Shadows (Projection)]

[Race: Demon]

[Level: 30 (??)]

[Domain: Shadow]

[Potential: ??]

[Skill: ??]

[Authority: ??]

[Note: Kill or disrupt the projection of Melaphine to clear the dungeon.]

Heizen looked at the information in his mind in trepidation. Looking at the level and all the question marks, he knew he was in a deep shit.

It was just like last time when he saw the Green Dragon Gadarkh. Ok, it wasn't exactly the same since this figure is only a projection, but what is the difference? He would die in both situations anyway.

"Fuck my luck." Heizen was cursing in his mind. But this time he was cursing at his shit fate.

It wouldn't matter if he were alone, but he was with his companion this time. He didn't want to see the same situation as in his vision.

Just when Heizen was having a mental breakdown, a fierce aura suddenly swept towards their direction.

It was similar to the aura he felt when he saw Gadrakh but weaker. Moreover, he was much better than before with his passive skill, Iron Resolve.

"Deathwalker. You are a Deathwalker in a mortal realm." A surprised voice appeared in his mind.

"How did you do it? How did you trick death? You are so weak and have no authority." The voice continued in confusion and began to speak incoherently. After mumbling for a while, the voice continued.

"Though your aura is weak, you are still a suitable candidate. Mortal, do you want to serve under this Mistress of Shadows-Melaphine?"

The voice suddenly turned charming and the whisper around the Altar began to tempt Heizen's mind.

However, Heizen wasn't paying attention to the voice from the beginning. Instead, he was looking at the recent prompt from the System that suddenly appeared in his mind when that aura reached him.
