Chapter 6 - Chapter 6. (STRANGE OCCURRENCES)

A blurry room can be seen from the bulb light, as Sophie is slowly becoming conscious. She could hear beep sounds and some people's voices that were around her.

"Shh, she's opening her eyes." Faith notified. "Sophie? Sophie?" Bella said worryingly.

"Please, she will wake up slowly." The female doctor implied. Sophie tries to regain consciousness.

"Guys?" Sophie said as she slowly tried to get up. "Careful Sophie," Faith said as she helped her to sit. "Thank God, she is awake," Brian said, relieved that his friend was okay.

"How are you feeling, Sophie?" Bella asked. "Bella? What hap....Ah!" Sophie was asking but suddenly felt a serious pain in her right hand. Sophie looked at her right hand; it had a thick bandage.

"We found you and Gia near the stream. You were severely injured." Nick implied. "We?" Sophie asked. "Nathan and I," Nick replied.

Sophie then looked at Nathan, another boy with black hair and reddish-brown eyes who was leaning on the wall and looking at her.

"And they brought you back, and your right hand was badly injured like it was almost burned but the doctors said it would recover," Lucy said to make Sophie not worry. Suddenly someone entered the ward.

"Sophie!!!!" The man with black hair and blue eyes with glasses said, with a worried face as he opened the door. "Father?" Sophie said, surprisingly.

"Oh, my dear." He said as he hugged Sophie. "How did this happen? I hope you are alright." Mr. Agustin asked, worried about his daughter.

"I don't know, Father, but I am fine, just a little head and hand pain." She tried to give a little smile. "Where is mom?

"She is at home with James; you know we can't leave him alone, and they won't allow him in the hospital." He replied. "Oh, right," Sophie said.

"I better call Adrina and tell her about your condition," Dad said, and he left the room. "Alright, please let the patient rest." The female doctor implied.

"We will come later, Sophie; get well soon," Miles assured her. "Hey, you want to grab a bite?" Phil asked the others. "Sure," they all replied.

"Sophie?" Nick asked Sophie if she wanted to eat something. "I am not hungry." She replied weakly. "But you must eat something to have energy," Miles implies. "Mmmm, OK, maybe apple juice will be fine," Sophie said.

"Alright, I'll get it for you. Come on guys, let's go; we should let her rest." Bella said as she got up from the chair and headed to the door.

They all left the room to buy something to eat except Gia, the girl with black hair that was covering her right reddish brown eye. As Sophie was about to go to sleep, she saw Gia.

"Gia, you are still here?" Sophie said. Gia then came close to Sophie and sat next to her. Sophie tried to get up as Gia sat beside her.

"Gia, you were there, weren't you? What happened?" She asked about the event that happened on the trip. "You don't remember?" Gia looked at her with a little confusion.

"Gia, the only thing I can remember right now is that you and I were looking for stones. That's it." Sophie said, anxiously.

"Well, after that, you started acting weird. You said you started to hear voices; you then followed them behind a waterfall and came out like you were blasted or something. But then Nick and Nathan found us, and they took you back to Miss Rose." Gia explained.

Sophie suddenly had a flashback of what happened, which caused her to have pain in her head "AHHH!!!" She yelled as she held her head in pain.

"Sophie, calm down. I don't know what you did there, but I know when you came out, your condition was terrible, your right hand was almost burned, and..."

Gia then pulled something out from her bag and showed it to Sophie. "You were holding this when you came out," Gia said as she gave Sophie the stone.

As Sophie held the stone, she had so many thoughts at the same time that she couldn't bear the pain anymore. She almost threw the stone but came to her senses, kept the stone on the table that was beside her, and told Gia to leave as she needed some rest. Gia headed to the door but before Gia left, she turned to see Sophie, who was now trying to sleep, and then left.

After some time, Sophie was still sleeping when she suddenly started to hear strange voices and strange things started to happen in the room. She then woke up and saw that there was nothing in the room. She sighed and then tried to get some water from her side table, but suddenly the bottle fell on its own. She was surprised, and the light then started flickering, and the strange voices came back. Sophie then put her hands on her ears, as she couldn't take it anymore.

"No, stop, stop it. STOP. AH!!!" She screamed from the headache and the occurrences. Bella then walks in. "Sophie, I got your juice," Bella said as she closed the door. Bella turned and saw the frightened face of Sophie, who was looking like a crazy patient.

"Sophie? Are you okay?" Bella asked anxiously, and she ran to her. "Sophie, what is it? Talk to me; you are scaring me. What happened?" "Ha ha...ha...a...I...I...I heard...I heard, Vo...Voi...ce." Sophie stuttered while her hands were still on her head.

"Voices?" Bella said while looking around the room. "There is no one here." Bella paused for a second and had a thought. (The doctor said she also had an injury to her head.) "Ah, um, Sophie, don't worry, Sophie; it must have been patients from the other rooms. Since it is a hospital, you know."

"But what about the light flickering??" Sophie said as she moved the blanket to cover her face to her nose.

"That must be the power malfunction. Is it flickering now?" Bella implied and asked. Sophie looked around the room, but nothing happened, so she nodded a no. "See, don't worry, ok. Here, have your juice." Bella said as she moved the juice to her. Sophie smiled and tried to take the juice by moving her right hand, but suddenly felt a sharp pain in her hand.

"Ah!!" Sophie grunted as she held her right hand. "Use your left hand," Bella said. Sophie then took the juice from her left hand and looked at her right hand, which was bandaged.

"Will my hand never recover?" Sophie asked while looking at her hand. "No, the doctor said it will be fine in a few weeks; just don't use it right now, OK?" Bella said.

Sophie then smiled a little and thanked Bella. She then started to drink the juice, but her facial expression was still in a worried mood.

It is now a month later, Sophie had to skip school in that time period because of her hand but thanks to the power of friendship, her friends helped her to cope with the school work. Some of her friends helped her to copy notes while Bella did home lessons to explain topics. Luckily she was updated with the school work and now Sophie is back in school as her hand is now stable.

She was happy to be back. At recess, Sophie went to her favorite spot in school, and was reading a book. She then heard an echoing voice of her name, but when she turned, she didn't see anybody. She ignored it and was looking for her pen, which was right beside her but she couldn't find it. She then looked around and saw that the pen that was right beside her, was now near a bush. She was sure she kept it beside her, so how did it get there? Nervously, she went to get it, and as she picked it up, she suddenly heard something from the bush. As she was about to check, somebody came from behind her.

"Sophie." "Aaahhhh!!!!" Sophie screamed as she got frightened. "Woah, what is it?" Nick asked with worry.

"It's just you; oh my God, you scared me," Sophie said as she tried to take a breath. "I am so sorry, Sophie. I didn't mean to sneak up on you like that." Nick said, apologising.

"No, it's fine, Nick," Sophie assured him. "What were you checking in the bush??" Nick asked, curious. "Nothing; I just thought I heard something," Sophie said.

"Okay," Nick said. He then remembers something. "Oh yeah, Miss Rose was looking for you." "Miss Rose?" Sophie asked, confused. "Yeah, she was calling you in her office," Nick said.

"Oh okay. You go ahead, I am coming; let me quickly get my stuff." Sophie said. Nick left. Sophie went to the spot where she was sitting to get her stuff. When she was keeping her things, she noticed that her novel was missing. She looked everywhere but couldn't find it, so she gave up and went to Miss Rose's office. Outside Miss Rose's office.

'Knock Knock'.

"Come in," Miss Rose said. Sophie walks in.

"You wanted to see me, Miss Rose?" Sophie said. "Ah yes, Sophie, please sit." Miss Rose said, pointing at the chair in front of her.

Sophie then sat down on the chair. "How are you feeling now?" Miss Rose asked. "Much better, Miss," Sophie replied. "Thank God for that." Miss Rose said.

"Yes? So you know, after the incident, we had to quickly get back and cancel the trip, and because of that, you guys can't write your reports. Right?" Miss Rose continued.

"Yes?" Sophir said, she was bewildered.

"And because of that, you can't get your scores. So I was thinking, Why not take a quiz instead?" Miss Rose added and asked. "Um... (confused) Sure you can, but why are you asking... me this?" Sophie asked.

"Well, since it wasn't your fault that you had that incident, I thought I could do something that also helps you out, you know?" Miss Rose implied.

"That's very kind of you, but you are the teacher, and you know best," Sophie said.

"OK, then I think it's best if we hold the quiz test, no?" Miss Rose said. "Um, sure miss," Sophie said.

"Then that's final. Thank you, Sophie." Miss Rose said it joyfully. "You're welcome, Miss," Sophie replied.

"You can go now." Miss Rose said while smiling. Sophie then left the office and was very confused as to why she asked her. She just shrugged it off and went back to class.

The day ended, and Sophie was going home after meeting all of her friends. She reached the school gate and saw her dad waiting outside with James, who closed early. "Hello, dear, shall we go?" Dad asked.

Sophie just nodded a yes with a forced smile. They then went to the hospital to get the bandage off; Sophie's hand was recovered, and after that, they went back home. When they reached home, they went inside the house. They saw Mom, who was cooking in the kitchen.

"Your back. How was your day?" Mom asked with her shining brown eyes and her brown hair swing as she turned to them. "It was great," James said, jumping excitedly. "It was good," Sophie said as she dropped her bag on the chair.

"Alright, quickly change and come down to eat." Mom said.

Sophie and James went to their rooms to change and get refreshed. As Sophie opened her closet, she looked over to her desk that was on her left side. She went close to it, opened the cabinet, and saw the stone that Gia gave her. She picked it up and started looking at it. She then sighed, and she heard her mom calling her for dinner. Sophie kept the stone on the table, went to change, and headed downstairs for dinner. At the dinner table.

"So, um, guys, I have to tell you something." Dad implied "What is it, father?" Sophie asked. "What Dad?" James also asked. "Okay, so um, my company has this dealer, the company has chosen me to finalize the deal," Dad said happily.

There were two seconds of silence. "And?" Sophie added. "And that is a great opportunity," Dad said.

There were another 2 seconds of silence."But?" Sophie added again. "But it is out of town, so I will be gone for almost a week, so I am leaving tomorrow," Dad replied.

"Sure, Father, if that's important, then duty calls." Sophie signified. "Yep. And bring a lot of chocolate for me." James said, joyfully. "Of course, anything for my good kids," Dad said he was proud of his wonderful kids.

Sophie then looked at Mom, who was drinking soup. "Let me guess; mom knew?" She asked as she looked back at her dad. "I was the first person your dad told," Mom said. "No wonder; you are not saying anything," Sophie said. "Haaaaaaaaa... I am sleepy." James said, yawning. "Alright, now off to bed, you too." Mom said.

Sophie and James went to their rooms to sleep. Sophie entered her room, changed, and was about to go to sleep when she saw the stone that was on the table. She went to the table and picked it up, looked at it, kept it in the drawer by her bed, and went to sleep.

At around 3:05 a.m., Sophie suddenly woke up to a strange voice in her room. It sounded like whispers, but this time she knew she wasn't just imagining things. She got out of bed, grabbed her flashlight, and started searching the room. She looked everywhere, but she couldn't find anything unusual. As she turned around to go back to bed, she saw a girl who looked like a ghost floating in front of her.

"Hello," the ghost girl said with a cheerful smile and a wave.

"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!! Gho.....gho.....ghhhhaaahhhh....." Sophie said, frightened and fainted

"Whoops!" the ghost girl said, looking at Sophie with a worried expression.
