Chapter 11 - Chapter 11. (MUTANTS-Part 1)

In a black night city as the wind gusts, a street light illuminated a man, revealing only his silhouette. The man entered a building and headed for the elevator. He pressed the up button, the lift opened, and the man entered. He pressed another button, and the lift closed. The lift then ascended and stopped at the top floor of the building. The man stepped out of the lift and strode towards an office. As he arrived at the office, he opened the door and entered. The office was dark without any light source. The only illumination available was coming from a big window. Another man was seated on a chair and facing the window with his back turned to the man that had just entered.

"What took you so long?" The man on the chair asked as he glanced at his watch.

"Sorry, boss, there were some complications on the way." The man that entered replied. The man who apologized was shown by the light from the window. He wore a brown suit with a red tie, glasses, and long brown hair that reached his neck. He was holding a suitcase.

"Do you have the file, Dr. Dorgan?" Said the boss, who was sitting. "Yes, Boss, here it is." Dr. Dorgan replied.

Dr Dorgan then extracted a file from the suitcase and placed it on the boss's table. The boss then swivelled his chair around to face Dr. Dorgan, he had a small moustache, was wearing a grey suit with a black tie, and was bald, he took the file and smirked, "Excellent," he said.

"Boss?" Dr. Dorgan said with a blank expression. "What?" Boss was annoyed as he scrutinised the file. "There is a small problem." Dr Dorgan implied."What is it?" Boss said, still examining the file.

"One of the children has escaped." Dr. Dorgan said.

"WHAT!!!" Boss exclaimed as he stood up in anger and shock. "How? And you are telling me this now!!!" Boss exclaimed.

"Don't worry, sir, we have alerted the search team. They are looking for the child." Dr. Dorgan said with a blank expression in a reassuring voice.

"Well, they better,' 'cause if we lose any child, the CEO will cut off our heads." The boss said angrily at Dorgan as he went to him.

"Don't worry, sir, we will have her." The doctor assured him with an expressionless face.

"You better do," Boss said as he went back to his seat and sat down. "Who is the child?" Boss asked as he continued going through the file.

Dorgan then slides a paper that has the child's info. Boss took the paper and scanned through it, "Lisa Borten," he said as he saw the picture of the child. She had long and little curly blonde hair and blue eyes. "Age 12, mutant..... What!!!! The pink alien???" Boss read.

"We are not quite yet sure sir, but her powers are to turn into this pink creature and we have to do experiments on her to see if it will affect her, unfortunately, she escaped and we couldn't complete the experiment." Dr. Dorgan explained.

"Let me tell you this, Dorgan, if you don't find her, I will make sure that I replace you for the experiment," Boss said with rage.

But Dr. Dorgan, with a positive voice and with an expressionless face, says, "I can assure you, sir, we will find her."You better, now get out," Boss said as he pointed towards the door.

Dr Dorgan left without a word, went down the lift, exited the building, and entered a black car. The man in the driver's seat asked, "What did the boss say?"

"I have given him the files, and of course, he wants to get the girl back." Dr. Dorgan said.

"Yeah, about that, we might have some traces of the girl as to where she could have gone." The man in the other seat said.

"Good, track her down. We need her." The doctor said as he smirked a little and the car left.

In the middle of the night, in a dark alley around a park, a light appeared, and a portal-type hole opened. A cat yowled from the scene and ran away from the alley. A brown shoe and a hand emerged and a girl wearing a pink dress with a grey scarf and a beautiful black braid came out from the portal, and with her was another girl who looked like a hologram, also came out. It's Sophie and Digi. Sophie looked at her dress and was wearing a denim pink frock that reached her knee, with black tight jeans and dark brown shoes, and her brown scarf was now a light grey scarf. She was also wearing a brown side hanging bag.

"Woah, I wasn't wearing this." Sophie said excitedly as she looked at her new outfit. "Well, your outfit will change according to the adventure, didn't I tell you that?" Digi explained and asked.

"No you didn't." Sophie replied. "Well, now you know hehe." "Wait!" Sophie exclaimed, "Where is the stone? It was in my hand a second ago." Sophie freaked out. "Don't worry its in the bag." Digi clamed her. Sophie checked and was relieved to see the stone, Digi giggled. Sophie then started focusing on her surroundings.

"Digi? What is this place?" Sophie asked as the portal disappeared. Sophie surveyed her surroundings, knowing that she was in an alley.

"It looks like...a dark alley." Digi implied. Sophie slapped her hand on her face. "I know that, I mean, where are we?" Sophie corrected herself.

"This is..." Digi paused as she scanned the area,"....oh, it's Scotland." Digi answered.

"WHAT!!!!! Scotland????? In England???" Sophie asked, surprised. "Yep," Digi said. "How do you know??" Sophie asked.

"Look," Digi said as she pointed to a board that was in the park. Sophie looked in the direction where Digi was pointing. She saw a board in the middle of the park and ran to it.

"Welcome to Scotland, a land of wonder, as a new Scotland has built up in this special year....." She read the board and stopped as she read the year. "2017?????? WHAT!!!" She exclaimed.

"Wait, Digi, are we really in the year 2017???" She looked at Digi with a shocked expression. "Check your phone and find out," Digi answered.

Sophie swiftly retrieved her phone, and as she did, the device suddenly changed to a Samsung Galaxy A13, a six-year-old model.

"What the heck? What happened to my phone? It's an A13!" she exclaimed, bewildered. "Wait, that's not your phone?" Digi asked.

"No, I mean, yes... I mean, no, my phone was the A19, the latest one that came out in 2023," Sophie said, confused.

"But it's 2017, so obviously it hasn't been released yet," Digi pointed out. Sophie tried her password, and the phone was unlocked. It was indeed her phone, and she checked the date.

"Oh my God," she gasped in shock, her eyes widening. "It's... 2017... April 25th?" She turned to Digi, who was also looking at the phone. "Digi, did we time travel?" Sophie asked.

"Yes," Digi replied. "How is that... possible?" Sophie asked, astonished.

"I thought I explained it to you; the stone can take you on any adventure, even to another timeline, world, or planet," Digi explained.

"That's so cool, but also strange," Sophie said excitedly.

"Okay, now let's see what the situation is here," Digi said, putting her hands on her waist.

"Right, but this is England, and I don't know where to go," Sophie said.

"Just walk, or let's go to a hotel to stay, and then we'll see if anything happens," Digi suggested.

"Right, but how will I pay for the hotel? I don't have any pounds," Sophie implied.

Digi giggled and said, "Check your bag," pointing to the bag Sophie was wearing.

Sophie got confused, but she checked the bag and found out that she had 500 pounds. "How did I...?" Sophie trailed off, confused and happy at the same time.

"I provided it for you. You know, when you play a video game and you get coins or something for starting, it's something like that," Digi explained. "Wow, thanks, Digi," Sophie thanked her.

"Alright, I've told you what you need to do. I'm going," Digi said. "What?" Sophie said, realising she would be alone.

"Don't worry, follow your instincts, and you can call me when you need help. You know the word," Digi assured her.

Digi then returned to the realm, leaving Sophie all alone in this new place. Sophie took a deep breath and followed Digi's instructions. As she strolled down the street, she asked someone if there was a hotel nearby. The man pointed out a three-star hotel just around the corner, and she thanked him before heading in that direction. As she was about to turn, she accidentally collided with someone wearing a dark blue hoodie, who was a foot shorter than her.

"I am so sorry," Sophie apologised.

The hooded figure didn't say a word and walked away.

"Rude," Sophie thought. As Sophie turned to go, she suddenly felt a spark as if she should follow the person. Her guts were telling her to go after them.

"Why do I feel like....I should follow that person," She thought as the person was walking away. "But Digi said I can follow my instincts," She thought.

Sophie then looked back and saw that the hooded figure had taken a turn, she followed. She followed the person for about 5 minutes, and the person took a turn in a dark, dirty alley. As Sophie rushed to the point and turned to the corner that led to the alley, she saw that it was a dead end and the person just vanished. Sophie was confused. Where could the person have disappeared? She decided to head back, but she couldn't remember her way back, but she was able to remember the street and was about to go when some thugs came in her way.

"Oh look, what do we have here?" The buffer thug said. Sophie was cornered by 5 thugs in a circle. "Looks like a lost one." The slim thug said.

Sophie then got nervous as to who they were, but she tried her best not to show it.

"Listen, whoever you are, leave my way," Sophie warned with an angry, serious face.

"Oh oh oh, it talks too," the buffer thug mocked. All The thugs started laughing. "Listen, lady, you are not going anywhere unless you give us the loot," the slim thug said.

"Loot? What loot?" Sophie asked. Even though she knew what they meant by loot, she squeezed her bag handle. The thug saw that and smirked.

"Listen, we won't give you any trouble. Just give us the loot and go," the slim thug said politely but then turned into an angry face and said, "Or suffer."

He said as one thug brought out a baseball bat, and they started to come around Sophie, Sophie was getting nervous, but she stood her ground, she felt like somebody coming behind her, so she quickly swung her leg and hit the person hard, right in the stomach causing him to spit blood from mouth and nose. The buffer thug got more furious. "Arghh, GET HER!!!!" He shouted.

One thug swung his bat, and Sophie did a backflip and avoided the hit. She saw two thugs coming towards her from the sides. As they got close she quickly did the front roll and the thugs bumped into each other, another thug used a chain to attack her which caused a small scar on her face and scratched her right arm but she got hold of the chain and pulled him and did a back kick, using her powers, on him. As she was still in that position, one thug suddenly appeared behind her with a bat to hit her. Her eyes widened as she turned in slow motion, knowing she couldn't dodge it.

The bat that he was holding was then grabbed by something, causing the thug unable to move the bat. He turned around and saw a hooded figure, whose hand was stretched out holding the bat, the person then threw the bat away, Sophie turned to see the person, it was the same person she was following. The person's hands and legs then got turned into a pink, slimy, gooey long substance that he used to deal with the thugs, he used his hand to throw away one of the thugs, and the other thug then cut the hand with a saw but the hand grew back and he squashed the thug. The other 3 thugs were terrified and ran away shouting, "Mu...mu.....MUTAAAAAAANT!!!!!!!"

Sophie, who was kneeling with her left arm on the right arm that was bleeding, looked at the creature that just saved her. Sophie saw the person's backside as he regained his body. Sophie then stood up, still holding her right arm, and asked, "Ah... Who are you?"

The figure turned around and was heading towards Sophie. Sophie, being a little scared, stepped back, and as the hooded figure was getting close to her, she mentally prepared herself, in case he attacked. The hooded person then removed the hood revealing their face, a beautiful girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. It was Lisa Borten, the child that escaped.

"Are you a mutant too?" Lisa asked with a serious face in her British accent.

"Mutant??" Sophie said, confused.

The girl understood that she didn't know what she was talking about.

"Sorry for the question," Lisa apologised for asking a weird question. Lisa saw Sophie's arm, bleeding. "You are hurt," Lisa said, concerned.

"No, it's fine," Sophie said, assuring her. "It's bleeding," Lisa said as she held Sophie's arm. She helped Sophie to get up.

"Um, there is a small clinic nearby. We can go there and have the wound bandaged," Lisa suggested in her perfect British accent.

Sophie agreed, and they both went to the clinic. Sophie got her arm bandaged, "Thank you. May I know your name?" Sophie appreciated the stranger she just met and asked. The girl hesitated at first but then wore her hood and said before leaving, "Lisa."

Lisa said and walked away. Sophie watched her leave. After some time, Sophie ate at a restaurant and headed for the hotel. She rented a room, went inside, and rested. The time was 10:30 pm, and Sophie and Digi were talking.

"Mutants??" Digi asked.

"Mh hm. The girl Lisa, I think, is a mutant. That is why she was able to transform into that creature thing." Sophie implied.

"Hmmm, but who knows, maybe she can be evil," Digi said.

"Digi, if she was evil, then she would have left me to die, but she didn't. She saved me." Sophie pointed out. "Point noted," Digi said.

"Then that means in this adventure or mission, there is something that has to do with mutants." Sophie implied.

"Yeah, it could be," Digi agreed. Sophie then sighed, lay down on the bed, and checked her phone.

"Digi, why did my phone change?" Sophie asked.

"Well, the missions provide the person with items that they might need and sometimes change them," Digi explained.

"Oh, ok. But I will get my old phone back, right?" Sophie asked nervously. "I am afraid no," Digi answered.

"What!!!!' Sophie exclaimed. "Just kidding," Digi said and laughed a little. "Digi," Sophie said, a little annoyed.

Sophie started going through her phone. She came across one particular piece of news. She sat up straight.

"Digi, Digi, look at this," Sophie said as she showed Digi what was on the phone.

"The MCA has announced the establishment of new tech development for mutants across the nation..." Digi read the news. "What's MCA?" She asked.

"It's a Mutant Control Agency," Sophie replied as she pointed out the name.

"Hmmm, maybe we can find something from there," Digi suggested.

"Then we will do that first thing tomorrow morning," Sophie said confidently.

"Alright, now get some rest. We have a lot to do. Good night." Digi said.

And with that, Digi went away. Sophie was in deep thought and hoped to get an answer soon and try to complete this mission successfully. She prayed, closed her eyes, and went to deep sleep.
