The sight of the city of Anvil when the saints entered it can only be described as terrifying.
Evening had already fallen, and the place was shrouded in darkness, with only the moonlight above providing any illumination.
The air was thick with the scents of blood and the dust rising from the ruins of homes.
Crushed bodies littered every corner of the city, and the once-thriving crops had turned into pools of blood.
The houses were reduced to rubble, making Anvil resemble a labyrinth filled with debris.
In every corner of the city, there were dozens of golems—some feasting on the corpses, others wandering aimlessly through the streets.
A group of golems had already begun to move towards the next cities beyond Anvil.
In less than two hours, 90% of Anvil's population, including its leaders and soldiers, had been slaughtered.
The remaining 10% had fled before the golems arrived.
At the end of Anvil, atop the fortress wall, stood a demonic statue, gazing down coldly at the saints who had just entered the city it had claimed.
It is extremely rare for a creature of chaos in the form of a statue to appear, as they are among the most challenging types for the awakened to deal with.
And now, they faced not just a statue, but a demonic statue.
Saruman stood, watching the scene before him with anger.
He closed his eyes and gripped the staff he leaned on, causing its exterior to shatter and reveal a long katana with a golden hilt and a blade of pure white.
"We're too late. I'm truly sorry. May you all rest in peace," Saruman said, his eyes filled with sorrow at their failure to arrive sooner.
"We will use the ladders to get over the walls. Protect our backs and take down the remaining golems," Saruman ordered the other saints.
"What about the rest of the golems heading towards the other cities?" Saint Jennifer asked.
"Don't worry about that, A number of elite awakened are already on the move," Saruman replied.
"I'll go first," Leonard said, drawing the two swords strapped behind his back and stepping forward.
Sensing Leonard's movement, dozens of golems moved towards him.
Leonard looked at them with pity, reversed his grip on his swords, and charged at them.
One golem swung its fist down towards Leonard's head, but in the blink of an eye, Leonard spun like a tornado, destroying dozens of golems.
Behind him, Lamar easily cleared the path ahead with her scythe, sometimes cutting down golems and other times smashing the broken houses blocking their way.
Park, as usual, kept his hands in his pockets, while Saruman and the others did nothing.
Leonard and Lamar cleared the way for them to reach the ladders.
Saruman, Leonard, Park, and Lamar climbed the ladders to confront the statue, while the other saints spread out to cover the city's corners.
Meanwhile, Saruman and the others reached the top and began moving slowly along the long, circular wall towards the demonic statue, which watched them with cold eyes.
The four saints knew from the moment they set foot in the city that this creature was incredibly powerful.
None of them acted recklessly, advancing slowly and cautiously towards the creature.
"This thing is cautious, don't you feel it?" Park said, eyeing the distant statue.
Leonard replied, "It has some intelligence. It didn't rush at us foolishly; it's cautious of us too."
"And not only that, it seems to have known we would come here. Isn't it strange that it hasn't left the city yet?"
Saruman nodded in agreement. "It has enough power to sense us from afar. What a terrifying thing."
"A demon of the statue type with awareness. What an annoying enemy," Park sighed.
The demon shifted its body towards them, preparing for their approach.
"Get ready, we're close," Lamar said, raising her scythe, which began to emit black smoke, pulsating with death.
Park took his hands out of his pockets, cracking his knuckles. "What a terrifying thing."
Then His body transformed entirely into titanium.
Saruman, frowning with anger, raised his katana to the right. "You cursed abomination!"
The katana heated up like a flame, emitting purple smoke, along with dark purple liquid droplets falling from the sword, dissolving the walls beneath them with ease.
Leonard smiled, "I'll enjoy this night."
He put on a black skull mask, emanating a sinister aura as his swords trembled with anticipation.
Everyone on the wall was ready to fight this creature...
Meanwhile, the saints in the city were doing their part, destroying hundreds of golems one after another.
"How many of them are there?" Saint Somo complained, lifting his bows to conjure an arrow of light from nowhere and shoot it at one of the golems, shattering it into pieces.
Suddenly, a strong sense of unease ran through his veins. "What the hell is that?"
Jennifer leaned against a rock to rest a little. "Ugh, I'm hungry."
Then she widened her eyes, looking up. "Oh my God!"
Orsawa, who was enjoying tearing the golems to shreds with his thread-like ability, smiled.
"Looks like Leonard's going to have a tough time."
Saint Victor clasped his hands together. "May the Lord forgive your sins."
Then he moved his hand, creating a manifestation of light in the shape of a giant Buddha hand, slapping the golem creatures before him, crushing them easily.
Suddenly, he frowned and looked up. "I pray the Lord protects you, my friends."
The other three saints felt the same, all of them shivering at the feeling.
Everyone was filled with a chill as the demonic statue began to move.
Sweat dripped from Lamar's forehead. "Are you sure, Leonard, that this thing is just a demon?"
It seemed they had been mistaken.
This creature before them was not just an ordinary demonic statue.
It seems like it is far too powerful for just four saints to handle.
Its strength of it is only one tier below the fourth category of Chaos Creatures, known as the Corrupted Statues, of which only one has ever been defeated in all of human history.
Though it is one tier below these creatures, it is still incomparable to them.
Nevertheless, its power is overwhelmingly crushing, making it a formidable challenge even for four saints to contend with.
Leonard laughed maniacally. "Hahaha oh, sorry, it looks like we're in trouble."
This creature was an Archdemon...
