Chapter 31 - Awakened !

"Breaking news, breaking news!" shouted a journalist as he threw newspapers in the middle of a city called Gladax.

A crowd gathered around the journalist's shouting, scrambling to catch the newspapers he was throwing at them.

"Oh my God, Anvil has fallen!"

"How could this happen? This is a disaster!"

"Two million people died in a single night, oh God have mercy."

Everyone was in a panic as they read the news about what had happened that night.

The city of Edoria and the other cities were no different; everyone was terrified and shocked by the news.

A man with black hair and black mustaches and black beard read the news in his hand while sipping a cup of tea.

"Francis really got a golden opportunity after that incident," he said, drinking from his cup.

A girl who was lying naked on the bed in front of him replied.

"Ah, surely there will be many wanting to join his faction after what happened in Anvil,"

"We need to find a way to attract more saints, don't we, Bella?" He said with a smile.

Bella got up from her bed, picking up her clothes from the floor. "Do something, aren't you a powerful saint like him, Chris?"

Chris cracked his neck before answering, "The White Faction is currently facing some issues, and I'm really busy as the leader."

"I'll leave the solutions to you, Saint Bella," Chris smiled.

Bella sighed as she dressed. "Alright, I'll look into it."

Back in Lucaria, the situation was truly dire.

Panic and terror were sweeping through the place, and even though three weeks had passed since the incident, no one had known about it until now, with the arrival of the refugees from Anvil to Lucaria.

These refugees were indeed under the protection of several awake ones whom Saruman had sent before entering Anvil.

"Statue demons, how could this happen!? "

"I'm sorry for what happened to you, please don't cry, madam."

"Go from there, we'll provide you with some food and clothes."

The guards of Lucaria were guiding the refugees and taking the necessary steps to care for them.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of the academy gate, Jin was kneeling, looking at the ground in shock.

"No, this is impossible… why, why did this happen?" he muttered angrily.

Then Jin stood up and started running quickly out of the city.

Henry saw him and called out, "Jin, where are you going?"

Jin ignored him and left through the academy gate to see the refugees.

He recognized many of the refugees in the area, as many had interacted with him during his work with Adrian.

An old man spotted him and called out to him, "Grandson of Adrian, thank God you're safe too!"

Jin quickly turned towards the voice and went to him. "Tell me what happened there, quickly!"

The old man was the one Jin had spoken to in the public bath in the past.

"What do you mean, weren't you with us there?" the old man asked with questioning eyes.

"No, I wasn't there. I left Anvil six months ago! So please, tell me what happened," Jin replied.

The old man's face showed sadness. "Sit next to me, and I'll tell you what happened."

Jin sat down, and the old man began to recount what happened in Anvil in detail before fleeing with the refugees.

He then told Jin what he had heard from other soldiers about what happened afterward during their escape.

Jin's expressions darkened, and he grabbed the old man's shoulder, looking terrified into his eyes. "Elena… is Leader Elena alright!? "

"What about Morgan and Sai? Tell me what happened to them!?"

The old man replied, wincing from Jin's strong grip on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry to tell you this, boy, but everyone who remained in Anvil was killed, including all the leaders and soldiers… And please let go of my shoulder, your hand really hurts."

"Ah, I'm sorry," Jin let go of the old man and started to feel dizzy.

He was shocked and his heart was heavy with grief.

He clutched the pendant Elena had given him, feeling a burning pain as he remembered it. "Damn it, damn it, why you too?"

Jin nearly cried but managed to hold himself back to avoid appearing weak in front of anyone. He then headed back to his room in the residential complex.

Elena was extremely precious to Jin. He had never felt a motherly affection before, but Elena's care and kindness towards him, even for a short period of two months, were enough for him to become attached to her and love her deeply as a mother he had never met in his life.

Jin returned to his room, closed the door, and threw himself on the bed, letting himself cry in anguish.

"Damn it, damn it, why do you all have to die… why is this happening!?" Jin bit his lips hard until they bled.

He also remembered his grandfather's last moments and how he died…

"Ugh, I'm the reason for his death… If only I had listened to the orders, he wouldn't have lost his leg… If I had listened to what he said, he wouldn't have died," Jin screamed angrily.

"If I had been able to escape back then, he wouldn't have sacrificed himself for me. How pitiful I am,"

Jin continued to blame himself repeatedly.

His tear-filled eyes turned to blazing anger.

His eyes were burning with rage. "I swear I'll kill them all, I swear I won't leave any of them alive, I swear I will destroy every chaos entity in existence," Jin kept hitting his pillow in fury as he cried.

At that moment of anger, Jin heard a voice inside him laughing " Bwahaha " .

Jin stopped hitting the pillow to listen to the laughter surrounding him.

"Who are you? Why are you laughing, and where are you, you son of a bitch?" Jin looked around angrily.

"Do you want to gain power?" the unknown voice asked.

"Fuck you, who are you!?" Jin shouted.

"Shut up, you weak human. You don't have the right to know who I am!" the voice replied.

"Look at yourself, how pathetic and weak you are."

Jin gritted his teeth. "Are you that damn paper?" He meant the Guardian of Amun.

The voice laughed. "Bwahahahaha , don't confuse me with a being lesser than me, human."

Jin was furious. "What do you mean?"

The voice answered, "If you ask me another question, I'll kill you."

Suddenly, Jin felt an intense pain in his heart that made him collapse onto the bed, trying to scream but his mouth wouldn't move.

"Answer me, do you want to gain power?" the voice asked again.

Jin clutched his chest, the pain in his heart unbearable.

Then he spoke with a burning tone, emanating from intense anger, "Power? Give me all of it... Give me everything. I'll kill them all, and then I'll kill you, you son of a bitch."

The voice inside Jin's head laughed, "Well said, you insect."

At that moment, everything around Jin changed. The pain in his heart vanished.

He started feeling a strange sensation throughout his body, as if something was changing within him.

"Ding!" Jin heard the sound of a bell in his head.

A paper appeared before him. "Ding! Congratulations, your stats have increased."

"Ding! Congratulations, your title has changed."

"Ding! Congratulations, you have met the conditions for awakening."

"Ding! Congratulations, you have unlocked hidden features."

Jin swallowed in shock as he looked at the papers in front of him.

Then another paper appeared before him. "Do you want to see your stats? [Yes / No]"

Jin answered, "Yes."

The writing on the paper changed to show his stats:

" Statistics "

─────────────────────────

*Title: The Corruption

*Rank: Reborn Entity

*Artifacts: 0/1

*Weapons: 0/1

*Summons: 0/1

*Kills: 3 / 500

*Ancient Souls: 1/5

*Mana: 20/20

*Souls Army: 0/50000

─────────────────────────

Jin's eyes widened in shock!

"Awakened? How in the world did I become an awakened ?" Jin swallowed hard.

"I finally got a title, but why 'The Corruption'? What kind of strange title is this?" Jin stared at his new title.

"The rank is 'Reborn Entity'? What does that even mean?"

"Ancient Souls 1/5? how did I get that and where is it ?"

"Wait, wait, wait, what did that voice do? How did I get all of this?"

Jin looked at the other stats "Hehe, I see, my mana is now 20/20, what a stupid and low number it is."

Then his eyes widened when he saw the last of his stats. "What? Fifty thousand Souls Army:!!"

"Hey, you annoying voice tell me, what does all of this mean?" Jin called out to the voice, but it didn't answer.

"Hey Amun's Guardian, tell me what does this mean?" But the Guardian of Amun didn't respond either, for the first time.

"Close the stats ," Jin commanded, and the stats vanished from the paper in front of him.

"I can still control that command function, but I can't talk to the Guardian of Amun anymore. Hmm, that's strange."

Jin sat on the edge of the bed, thinking, "So, I've somehow become awakened now. What an irony."

"I became awakened just like that, without any effort. Hahaha, I feel pity for the other students."

That night, Jin realized how he had gained his powers in the first place.

Before Adrian's death on that fateful night, his grandfather ordered him to destroy his decrepit sword by invoking a being called the Immortal Entity.

And when Jin did that, the sword vanished at that moment. Jin connected the sword to everything that was happening to him now, but more questions arose... How did his grandfather know about this, and why did he give it to Jin?

Jin wiped the tears from his eyes. "Well, that's fine; it's a good opportunity to kill them all," his eyes burned with rage and excitement as he smiled.
