Chapter 29 - Golden Thunder

Lamar was staring at the giant in front of her, sweat pouring from her forehead as she held Leonard on her thigh.

Leonard could barely speak, looking into the crimson eyes of the demon approaching them, just as she was.

The black smoke filled the area, making visibility far more difficult than before.

No one could see anything except the giant standing before them.

Saruman didn't know what to do; in front of him were dozens of golems, and behind him, a massive giant was approaching.

"Watch out, girl, there are some golems coming your way!" Saruman shouted to Lamar.

Suddenly, four golems appeared in front of her. She couldn't see them because of the smoke and couldn't sense them due to the sheer number of golems scattered everywhere.

Quickly, she laid Leonard on the ground and grabbed her scythe, ready to attack the golems.

"Shhh... swish... whirl," Lamar swung her scythe, shattering the first golem's body.

A punch from another golem, which had appeared from her right, was headed for her face.

Lamar tilted her head and back to leap backward gracefully, then countered with a swift horizontal slash, cutting the golem in half.

But she couldn't avoid the third golem, which kicked her from behind.

Lamar rolled several times on the ground, blood streaming from her head.

"Ugh," she tried to stand, spitting blood from her mouth.

Everyone was fighting relying on their senses; no one could see anything due to the thick smoke from the massive statue.

Lamar was extremely worried about Leonard, whom she had left on the ground.

Ignoring the pain, she moved and screamed, "I'll kill you all!" She bit her lip and started swinging her scythe wildly.

She was cutting through the golems one by one.

But it seemed her luck had run out.

The ground shook violently around her, immobilizing her.

The giant statue had reached them.

Saruman shouted, "We have to run!"

Lamar regained her composure and moved through the shadows towards Leonard.

But Leonard was already gone from the spot where she had left him.

"No, no, no," Lamar's eyes widened in fear.

"Don't tell me you're dead, Leonard!" Lamar called out desperately.

Saruman appeared in front of her, grabbed her against her will, and started running.

"Let me go, let me go now! Leonard is still there," Lamar shouted, hitting Saruman's shoulder violently.

"Don't worry, he's fine, I can still feel him," Saruman replied, floating swiftly through the air, dodging the hands of dozens of golems reaching up, trying to grab him.

The demon raised its sword high, ready to strike, and the air shifted and cleared from the sheer size of the massive sword.

Saruman turned his head to see the terrifying sight in front of him. "This is bad!"

Meanwhile, Somo, Park, and Orasawa were running as fast as they could towards the outskirts of the city.

"The path ahead is blocked, what are we going to do?" Orasawa asked, jumping over the debris of the houses.

"I don't know, find us a way out immediately, we have no other option," Park replied.

Somo was killing some of the nearby golems. "Can you hurry up? My spirit core is starting to deplete."

Park cursed, "Damn, this is the worst scenario ever."

"Oh no, no, no, no, this is bad, this is bad, get up on one of the houses quickly," Orasawa shouted in panic.

"What could be worse than what we're already in!" Park shouted back.

Somo looked to the east, his expression changing as his face turned pale.

He gasped and waved his hand. "Look there," he pointed towards the giant, who was lifting its sword high.

"Oh, crap," Park and Somo quickly climbed onto the debris of one of the houses.

"What the hell is that thing?" Orasawa yelled.

"I don't know, but I think it's an Arch Demon!" Park answered while running.

"Haaaaa! Arch Demon!" Somo was astonished at what they had said.

"Why is there an Arch Demon here, for god's sake, and why weren't we informed about it?"

"Don't ask me; it just happened," Park cursed under his breath.

The giant swung its sword with tremendous force, aiming at Saruman and Lamar, who were floating in the air.

The smoke shifted with the downward swing of the sword.

The size of the giant sword even blocked the faint moonlight that was peeking through the fog.

Saruman raised his katana, gritting his teeth. "Aaaah!"

"Bang!" The sword struck the ground with immense force.

The impact of the sword created a thunderous quake, causing the ground to crack everywhere.

The smoke around the city cleared from the force of the strike.

Debris and scattered bodies were blown away violently like a tornado.

Dozens of golems were thrown into the air or shattered from the force of the shockwave.

Park covered his ears from the deafening sound and knelt.

Everyone did the same to avoid being hit by the flying debris.

The demon moved its right leg forward and raised its sword.

"You son of a bitch," Saruman bit his lip in pain after his right hand was severed.

He barely dodged the demon's brutal attack.

Lamar was unconscious beside Saruman.

Somo and Orasawa were badly injured from the flying debris around them.

Park's body could barely withstand the damage after his spirit core was depleted, leaving him unprotected by titanium.

As for Leonard, his fate was unknown, but he was likely dead...

"Can either of you still move?" Park asked, looking at some golems approaching them.

Orasawa was breathing heavily. "Ugh, I have no energy left; it looks like we're going to die."

Somo raised his bow and nocked an arrow, ready. "I can kill one or two more, but that's all I can do."

"I wonder about the others' situation," Park said, trying to stand, looking at the giant demon.

"Hehe, they're probably all dead by now," Orasawa laughed bitterly at their situation.

"Who would have thought we'd die such a gruesome death?"

"You're such a pessimist," Park sighed.

Saruman leaned on his katana, looking at the creature preparing for another swing.

Spitting blood, he spoke with a deadly tone, "You vile creature, I swear I'll drag you to hell with me, at least."

Saruman was extremely exhausted, his spirit stone depleted, and blood dripping from his severed hand.

He began to feel dizzy, his vision becoming blurry.

Saruman raised the katana in his left hand high, with blood dripping from his right hand and his lips. "Come to me, you vile creature."

Saruman's gaze was fixed on the eyes of the vile giant before him.

Park, Orasawa, and Somo were completely hopeless, their strength spent. Everyone continued to watch the giant, who was preparing to swing again.

"Hahaha, it was a pleasure meeting you, you scoundrels," said Orasawa.

"Ah, I suppose I feel the same," Park nodded his head, awaiting his death.

Suddenly, everyone heard a powerful thunderclap echoing everywhere.

Out of nowhere, a person with long black hair appeared, wearing a massive golden armor.

He carried a huge, long sword coated in gold, with a silver hilt engraved with a lion symbol.

This person appeared out of nowhere, seemingly from the sky before the creature's head.

He threw his golden sword like a spear, aiming it at the creature's head.

He leaned back and hurled the sword with great force, directing it swiftly at the giant's right eye.

"Bang!" The giant's head reeled backward violently; the force of the blow caused the air around it to ripple.

Following this, a sequence of golden lightning bolts descended from the sky, with dozens striking the devilish giant's head.

The sky turned golden with a single stroke, flashing dozens of golden lights.

Everyone stared at the figure in shock.

"What... What is he doing here?" Park was stunned.

Suddenly, hundreds of Awakened individuals ran, pushing and leaping around him.

Saruman lowered the katana and laughed maniacally. "Hahahahaha! What a scene!"

Dozens of other Awakened individuals were around Saruman and Lamar.

Then, more than 20 Saints and hundreds of Awakened appeared in the afflicted city!

This was one of the greatest of the three clans ever and it's leader by himself here... The Golden Saint Clan!
