CASSIE (AVERY)
IT WAS almost 3pm, so I still had time to meet Jesse as quick as possible. The contract didn't state that I had to stay restricted inside like some sort of criminal, so I guess I'll be safe.
While I was getting ready, Logan's words replayed in my head. Why on earth would Lois think that he's hiding something from her? It's obvious that he loves her with everything. What kind of dude would refuse the golden opportunity of having a kid with another woman because he still has faith in his wife?
If she was comfortable with him finding a surrogate and having a child,then she wouldn't mind him cheating.. would she? If Logan had a mistress,it would make sense to recommend her as the candidate for the surrogate mother the moment it his mother spoke of her plans.
Then if it isn't an affair, there's only two things the rich fights for. Power and money? She has all the power in the world as his wife, money included and he says she has access to all his finances.
Lies, Lois doesn't have access to the his grandfather's fortune, his family members are unaware of its existence even but what if Lois knew? What if he doesn't know that she knows? And why can't she just ask him straightaway? Maybe she already knows, then I wouldn't need to extract the information from Logan, it'll be from her.
Maybe I'll be meeting Jesse for something else after all, I headed out of the building with my phone in ear as I thought of places to find a taxi. I can't work with their personal chauffeur to avoid any causalities.
Suddenly, I got a phonecall from an unknown number.
"I'm outside the residence in a black Mercedes," Jesse informed me over the phone.
"Are you f*cking insane, Jesse? Why would you risk something like this?"
"Well, you wouldn't come so I figured that I could come to you. Calm down, there's a place downtown that we can go to,"
With a grunt, I ended the call and secured my phone in my purse before taking the long walk down the gate. It's not stressful, I've been trained to endure things harder than this before.
When I got to the gate, I told the security guard that I was going out to fetch somethings incase Logan or any member of the house asks after my whereabouts then I stepped out finally.
Locating Jesse's car is a mere walk in the park as the moron parked the vehicle only a few steps away from their residence.
I got into the car without second thought and he grinned.
"Long time no see, Avery," he smirked.
I sighed and leaned on the headrest of the front passenger seat, "Save the cute meet and greet for later, let's get out of here, first,"
It took about an hour to get to a secluded park area where we could finally talk, I kept drifting off into my vast thoughts throughout the journey, trying to put a few things together and come up with a decent explanation of why Lois would be after Logan's money.
"So,I need full updates on how everything has been so far?" Jesse asked the moment we settled in on a park bench.
"I don't even know where to start from, I've been looking after Logan—"
"I know,"
My head whipped towards his direction, "You know?"
"I have access to your phone, Avery,"
I rolled my eyes, "As expected,"
"Pardon, but we are literally funding this mission right now, you think Dexter is patient enough to wait for about two weeks to get info? Plus,we can't keep meeting up like this on a regular basis, they'd suspect something,"
"I know, I know. I sort of expected it,"
As long as I don't have my nudes there, you all can have access for as long as you desire.
"Good, How's it been, has he told you anything yet or any clues even?"
"He's still playing the innocent card, it kills me to keep this facade of being so nice to him. We could just kidnap the dude or something and stop wasting time,"
Jesse chuckled, "Then have the whole England coming after us, do you know who you're talking about? It's best to go under cover and get the info we need, even if it means to get him to fall for you or something,"
My lips twitched into a smirk, "He has a wife and he's obsessed with her besides,that isn't on my agenda,"
"Well,you have to work quickly, isn't his wife supposed to be back next week?"
I adjusted my sitting position, "Speaking of…I need your help with something,"
"Sure," He shrugged.
"Lois Wellington, I want you to look into her properly, "
Jesse's brows raised as he looked at me, "Lois Wellington, isn't that Logan's wife? I've told you all you need to know, haven't I? They met in highschool, went to the same college and got married thereafter. Is she giving you any trouble? "
"No,none at all,"
"Then what else do you want to know? "
I sighed and leaned closer to him with my voice very low, "I think she knows about the fortune, "
He smirked slightly with a scoff, "I doubt that, Reigns. No one in that household knows except Logan. Dexter got to find out because of he looked into Logan's grandfather's illegal and legal transactions during his lifetime, "
"But what if someone else looked into it?"
Jesse paused.
"Rodrigo was also after this fortune which meant there would be others who are hungry for it aside us. Lois keeps playing a weird manipulatative card,she tells Logan a story of a man who hid something from his wife and how he ended up dying or something. In every argument they have, she brings it back to him hiding things,"
"And how does that relate to the fortune? It could be something else, you know,"
"You and I know what the rich are after, it can't be an affair Logan wouldn't have a mistress and not recommend her as a surrogate. He claims that she has access to all his finances so there are two things involved now —"
"Lois Wellington knows where the fortune is or she's after it,"
Thank goodness he's smart.
"Exactly,"
He threw his hands in his air then ran his fingers through his hair, "Wow, Avery. If this goes well, we may a step closer to getting what we want,"
"I'll do a little digging too, tell Dexter as well. We need all the help that we can get," I added.
"You can count on me, Avery,"
