Aurora's heart raced as she struggled against the tight ropes binding her hands and feet. Her surroundings were unfamiliar: an abandoned warehouse with flickering, dim lighting. Detective Roberts was moving around setting up his workspace and checking his tools with unsettling calmness.
"Why the hell did he kidnap me?" Aurora wondered, her mind racing. "Is it because I'm the CEO of a company? Does he want ransom or something?"
Her breathing quickened as panic set in. "He's a detective - why is a cop doing this to me? What did I ever do to him?" She tried to think of a way to reason with him. Perhaps if she could get him to talk, she might find a way out.
Then a horrifying realization struck her. " He's not the serial killer that's been trending, is he? No, that can't be true. I can't die like this. I just started getting my life back in order. I was about to make something of myself, and now it's all going to end."
