Kane staggered back, collapsing onto one knee beside the table where Aurora laid. Instinctively, he reached out to grab her hand, his fingers trembling as they touched her skin.
"I made sure you weren't with Miss Bernett before I made my move to grab her... How are you here?" Roberts' voice cracked with frustration as his brow furrowed deeply. "You appeared out of thin air," he muttered, with disbelief clear in his eyes.
Roberts began scratching his head with both hands, his composure breaking away.
"With that knife in your guts, there's no way you're standing up," he spoke, pacing back and forth, agitation growing with each step.
"How the hell did you get here? What was that - what was that wind and... ? How did you just fucking appear out of thin air? Am I hallucinating? Is this magic? Witchcraft?" His voice rose, filled with panic as he approached Kane, who knelt beside Aurora.
