But as we were going to teleport a golden light blinding us all took Chris at the last moment. And the rest of us were teleported to the goddess's realm...
When we arrived at the location, it was the same as Chris had described: grand paintings, majestic statues, towering pillars, and in front of us, the goddess herself. Unlike before when she didn't face him, she now faced us.
She was a striking figure with golden eyes, golden hair, a white gown, and numerous jewels on her fingers, hair, and neck.
She rose from her seat and addressed us, "Welcome, travelers."
Her gaze then shifted to the demon king. "Your job is done," she said.
The demon king responded, "Remember your promise."
This exchange left us—Emyr, Valmos, and me—confused.
We turned our heads toward the demon king and wanted to know what was this all about.
Suddenly the goddess snapped her fingers, gaining our attention and a screen appeared in front of us.
It showed Chris battling hundreds of millions number of demons, elves, dragons, vampires, beast-kins, dwarves, and humans.
His powers seemed to be sealed and he can be seen in a difficult situation as he was dealing with the army.
Then the goddess began to speak in a monotonic voice, "I sent him to defeat the demon king, but his damned brother appeared, ruining everything. His rapid increase in strength was unprecedented and more troublesome than the demon king. Can you believe level 138 in 15 years!? Even the demon king took more than 1000 years to reach level 141 but he…"
She looked at us and continued, "And you guys you took even less time than the demon king to reach demigod but you still are a danger to me."
She then addressed the demon king, "Explain to them what happened."
With a sigh, the demon king began, "The goddess and I made a deal to eliminate the hero—and, naturally, you all, because you would side with him and because you are what she said 'a danger'. So she wants to get rid of you, who can turn into her biggest obstacle, and in return, she promised not to interfere with my plans and even to take me out of her system."
The meetings, plans, and everything that had transpired here. These were pieces that were put together and we were able to understand our situation.
First, Chris would naturally stand against the goddess because of his brother and we too would support him. Second, even if we don't support Chris we still will die. Third, we were betrayed, our emotions and our trust were broken too. Fourth, for them, we are pawns, a strong pawn nonetheless, pawns.
And understanding that, we were angry. If my looks could kill a person, it would kill the goddess and the demon king right now a thousand times over.
Suddenly,
Emyr, driven by rage, launched attacks on the demon king.
[BOOM]
[BOOM]
[BOOM]
[CRASH]
Dragon breath met with Hellfire.
Then a fist-fight broke out between them.
Demonic fist met with Dragon King's strength. Sending both of them flying. And soon they rebounded and faced each other again.
And again a fist-fight.
"I WILL KILL YOU!!!! ABADDONN!!!!!" Emyr roared.
"TRY IT!!" The demon king, Abaddon replied with a punch.
While they fought, Valmos also wanted to join the fight and help Emyr but I stopped him. I pointed at the goddess and our focus shifted to her.
She was a being who could defeat us. I don't know, why did I even agreed to…
Yes! That's it! That f*cker! He used 'persuasion' on us. The demon progenitor's ability to manipulate a being. Why the f*ck did I not take that into account when the meeting happened.
'Sh*t'
"Valmos…"
"Yes?"
"I am sorry."
"…?"
He looked at me as he didn't understand why I apologized. And my hatred for Abaddon increased to the maximum.
…
We shifted our attention back to the goddess. She… she looked amused, simply saying, "Don't ruin my place," before creating a force field. A field that was absorbing all attacks and its shockwaves, not ruining her 'residence.'
She looked like she didn't want to join. And we were right. She was using us as some sort of entertainment.
Our pride was wounded but we joined Emyr in attacking the demon king, fighting intensely.
Don't know how much time passed as we fought the demon king. But one thing was sure, 'we will kill this guy even if it is the last thing we do.'
Suddenly, the goddess, bored, snapped her fingers. The force field vanished, and all four of us felt a pull from the ground and we crashed to the floor, cracking it upon impact.
"What are you doing, goddess?" Abaddon asked.
She replied, "You came here and are fighting in my place. Do you not have any manners? And you dare to ask me 'What am I doing'"
Suddenly an orb presented itself beside the goddess and it glowed blue.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"
Seeing the orb the goddess laughed maniacly.
She laughed for minutes.
Gradually she held her stomach as if the laughing was hurting her stomach.
Then she wiped the tears that formed in the corner of her eye and said, "Looks like you can see the good news yourself."
She clicked her fingers and the screen presented itself. And on that screen what I saw left me, no three of us shaking…
Chris was stabbed by 8 swords. And he seems to be dead…
"HAHAHAHA!!! WHAT A GRAND SPECTACLE!" she laughed again.
And hearing her laugh at my brother's death, made me lose myself and this was the one and only time in my entire life that I was so angry that I wanted to erase an existence in front of me… no matter the cost.
I flew at my maximum speed and chanted multiple spells.
One… ten… hundred… thousand… ten thousand…
The number of spells kept increasing as time went on. And in a blink of an eye, there were more than a hundred thousand spells ready to hit the goddess.
And as I was going to launch these attacks on her. She pointed her hand in my direction and every spell just vanished.
Valmos took this chance and started using his sword art on the goddess.
But she cut his sword between her two fingers.
Then Emyr tried to use dragon breath but she threw Valmos at him at an unimaginable speed that it was interrupted.
Meanwhile, I started to prepare the same attack but she just said, "Annoying" and all of my spells vanished once again.
I looked at Emyr and Valmos, who in turn looked at me. Asking me 'What is to be done'
The answer was simple that was to escape.
But the problem was to where, and the more important question was to how.
But me seeing them the guilt of not taking demon's 'persuasion' into account hit me. And I didn't want them to die because of my f*ck up. So, the most important thing was for them to survive this ordeal and then take revenge.
Knowing each other for a long time helped us in communicating the plan.
They distract the goddess and Abaddon. Meanwhile, I will be using teleportation spells.
As Emyr and Valmos were going to move, the goddess teleported and slapped them so hard that they flew back, crashing into the wall.
She said, "What? Do you think I am stupid? Do you think I can't tell what you guys are thinking?"
"…"
'Is this the end… I am sorry everyone.'
I thought as I saw the goddess slowly approaching me.
I looked at Abaddon in desperation, hoping everything that transpired here, in this short amount of time, was a dream. Even this situation is not real and all I have to do is wake from this nightmare. But seeing his impression I cursed. That lunatic didn't have any regret or any sort of remorse for what he did to us instead he was smiling creepily.
I turned my head back to the goddess and then it happened…
[COUGH]
[COUGH]
[COUGH]
[BLERGH]
[COUGH]
[COUGH]
She coughed up blood.
I don't know and don't want to know in this situation. I just need to get out of here.
"VALMOS! EMYR! NOW" I shouted at the top of my lungs.
They too got up from the rubble. And they soon started attacking both Abaddon and the goddess. In the meanwhile, I started chanting the spell.
Emyr was fighting Abaddon.
Valmos was fighting the coughing goddess.
"IT IS ALL BECAUSE OF THAT F*CKER! AGAIN AND AGAIN! WHY DOES HE HAVE TO STAND IN MY WAY! EVEN IN DEATH!" The goddess shrieked.
Not paying her any attention but recording her voice in my brain I continued to chant.
And then it happened…
The chant was complete.
"GUYS! NOW!" I shouted and called for Valmos and Emyr.
And they soon entered the circle of teleportation that appeared beneath our feet… And then we escaped…
