Chapter 11 - Unconscious

Kalix Noah's POV

I put her down and checked her pulse. It's not stable. I look around and check if there's any scissors around.

As soon as I saw one, I cut her clothes and checked her wound. I cut off the bandage. I cut them also and saw that her wound was worse than yesterday. Damn it!

"You better not die on me, Kassandra. I have no plans to be widowed in just a day," I utter.

"Someone, bring me a first-aid kit here!" I roared. The door opened, and Axel was already here.

"What's wrong, your majesty?!" he asks.

He looks at my wife and realizes what a predicament we have here. He attended to my wife's wound right away.

I just stood up behind him and watched as he attended to her wound. After a few minutes, he's done. I look at him.

"Tell me, what happened to her wound? How serious is it is?" I ask. He cleaned up the mess first before he faced me. I notice how serious he is.

"Let's hope that she will be just fine. If she continues to be unconscious for a whole day, that will be bad for her. For now, I'll continue to make her medicine. Her wounds are not yet infected, and we should be thankful for that," he says.

That's a sign of relief, but what worries me is the fact that she's unconscious. "I'll take my leave, your majesty. I'll send her medicines here as soon as possible."

Axel left and closed the door. I look at her. Her clothes were destroyed again. I have to ask some female servants to change her clothes into more comfortable ones. I went out and noticed the maids waiting outside her quarters.

"Change her clothes to the most comfortable ones. No corsets or tight dresses. Her wound is a bit serious. Also, I don't want anyone to learn about her situation. Keep it shut, okay?"

They all nodded. They get inside. I don't want to change her clothes myself because they're not appropriate yet.

When the time comes, I will surely do it myself. I decided to check the whole house. I want to know how large this mansion is.

I also notice familiar faces. These people had been working in the palace under mom's supervision. They really trust the Escalante family.

I guess my grandparents' relationship proves there are too many adversaries, which makes their relationship closer than it looks.

"Your majesty?" a voice says. I was in the garden, looking at the beautiful scenery.

It was Arida. She hides her hand. I saw the blood on her hand. I guess she really tortured the woman who almost killed her general.

"What happened to that woman? Where is she? Bring me to her," I stated.

She looks at me. I showed her how serious I was. "Understood, your majesty."

She walks away, and I follow her. After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at a small lodge house behind these huge weeds and trees on the west side of this mansion.

Arida opened the door, and I saw the woman sitting on the chair. She was tied and full of purple marks. I guess Arida had been punching her too much.

"Did she say something about the reason why she tried to kill my mother?" I ask.

She shook her head. "She didn't want to speak, my lord."

I notice the sword on the floor. Arida must have forgotten to pick it up. I grab it and check to see if it is sharp enough. It was.

"Pour the coldest water you have here," I remarked.

She didn't say a word and just did as I said. The woman wakes up and looks around. She saw my face and smirked.

"Oh, the prince who is unwanted and mocked because of his foolish curse," she says. I pointed the sword in her face.

"Who told you to hurt my mother, you peasant?" I ask.

She just laughs and looks at me with her proud eyes. My jaw clenched. I stab the sword in her feet and move it in a circle. She roars in pain, which I intend to do.

"If you really think that your fucking kingdom will save you, you're wrong. No one will ever live when they hurt the people I care about. What you did is punishable, bastard," I growled.

I took off the sword from her legs and did the same on the other one. I grab her neck and choke her.

"This is nothing for touching my mother and wife on my wedding day. You really think we'll just kill you like that? You will suffer until your last breath," I stated. I look at Arida and give her sword back.

"Grab all the lemon in the kitchen and pour it on her wound every hour. Make sure she suffers until she fucking closes her eyes," I remarked. Arida was stunned because of what I said. I showed her how serious I was.

"Copy, my lord," Arida replied.

I walked away and cleaned my hands. I have to make sure that she remembers the day that she ruined my wedding day.

After cleaning my hands, I went back to her room and checked on her. The maids were sitting in the hallway. They stood up and bowed at me.

"Greetings to his majesty," they said.

I just raise my hand and open the door. I get inside and check on my wife's situation. I notice the empty bowl on the bedside table.

I guess Axel came back and made her drink her medicine. I take my seat next to her and gaze at her.

"I don't know if I should be happy if you ever die," I utter.

I don't know if I'll give this marriage a chance to heal my wounds. I guess my mother and father were trying to help me recognize my worth as a person. I know they noticed how lonely I was because my siblings excluded me from their circle.

"Don't die, or else I'll use your army and start a war against them. They will die, and their family will cry. Stop me, or else you'll regret leaving this early," I stated.

As usual, I didn't receive any replies. I just stay beside her and hope that Kassandra will wake up as soon as possible.

The day had passed. It's been three days, but she's still lying in bed. She's not awake yet. I even lied to my parents and told her that she was okay and nothing to worry about.

I want them to believe that everything is okay. I saw Axel in the kitchen. He was brewing some medicine for Kassandra.

"Is her medicine ready?" I ask. He grabs a bowl and smiles.

"Yes, your majesty. You can take this medicine in the general's room," Axel replied.

I simply nodded and waited for it. As soon as he passed me the tray, I went back to her room. I've been staying by her side and sleeping inside her room as well.

"I hope you will wake up soon, Kassandra."
