Duke Kael Dragomir took the witness stand with his trademark polite and distant smile firmly in place. While the nobles were eager to hear his testimony, he took his time observing some faces more than others around the hall and dominating the room around him.
"As the princess said, I was tipped off by a noble lady about orphan children being abused and involved in child labor. Acting on this information, I led a raid with my knights on the orphanage. There, I confirmed with my own eyes that a charity run by the royal family was a cover for an illegal and horrid business."
The gathered nobles exchanged looks of bewilderment and disbelief as Gideon's complexion started turning a little blue. The courtroom was on the verge of chaos while Kael conversed with Evelina, but as he turned back to face the crowd, a single look from his sharp hazel eyes silenced them all.
