Chapter 31 - anger and betrayal

Advik, who had been silently observing the unfolding drama, finally broke his silence. "What if I prove that Anvika is innocent?" he asked, his voice cutting through the tension in the room and shocking many of the guests.

Gabriel, taken aback for a moment, quickly recovered, With an eye on Advik, his lips curling into an evil smile. "Prove it?" he scoffed. "In that case, I intend to do anything that you guys ask me to do. But we all know there are no security cameras around," he added, his tone dripping with condescension.

The room fell silent again, all eyes turning to Advik. His calm demeanor and confident words suggested he knew something the rest of them did not. Gabriel's smugness wavered slightly, a hint of unease creeping into his eyes as he waited to see what Advik would reveal. The atmosphere grew thick with anticipation, each person present holding their breath in expectation of the next move in this high-stakes confrontation.

Advik turned his gaze towards Neena, who had been standing quietly among the guests. "Neena, can I borrow your phone?" he asked, his voice steady and calm.

Neena had a tendency to film everything, so she immediately began to capture the females asking Nivik out on a date as she saw them.

Neena, understanding his unspoken request, handed her brother her phone right away ,without hesitation. The guests watched curiously, wondering what he was up to.

"Since the music started," Advik explained, his eyes meeting Gabriel's with a challenging glint, "Neena has been capturing everything on her phone. No one noticed."

The room fell into a hushed silence, the gravity of Advik's revelation sinking in. Gabriel's smug smile faltered, replaced by a flicker of uncertainty.

As Advik took the phone from Neena and was about to play the footage on the main screen in the hall, all eyes turned to the screen in anticipation. The room was filled with a charged silence, each person holding their breath.

In the corner, a girl who had gone unnoticed by most stood nervously. Dressed in a striking black mini dress, her curly hair cascading down her shoulders, she had clearly put effort into impressing the people around her. Her makeup was flawless, and her outfit was chic, designed to catch the eye and make a statement.

But now, she was sweating, beads of perspiration forming on her forehead and along her hairline. Her usually confident demeanor was replaced by a palpable sense of fear. She shifted uneasily, her eyes darting around the room as if looking for an escape route. Her hands trembled slightly, and she clasped them together in an attempt to steady herself.

Advik began scrolling through the footage, played the movie as soon as he connected her phone to the hall projector.. As the screen lit up and the first images of the video began to play, her anxiety became more evident. She seemed to shrink into the shadows, hoping to avoid detection, her mind racing with the fear of being implicated in whatever was about to be revealed.

The screen showed clear evidence of the events leading up to the confrontation, capturing Sophia's actions and the context of Anvika's response. The footage laid bare the truth, dispelling any doubts about Anvika's innocence.

The murmurs among the guests grew louder as they absorbed the undeniable proof. Gabriel's face flushed with anger and embarrassment, his confidence shattered. The power dynamics in the room shifted dramatically, with Advik's calm assurance and Neena's inadvertent documentation turning the tide in Anvika's favor.

When the video started to play on the television, everyone was rather shocked.

Anvika is not guilty. She wasn't at fault for the error that was placed on her.

It was made abundantly evident that another girl, not Anvika, was the cause of Sophia's collapse.

The other girl was envious of the Sophia who invited Nivik out on a date as she requested him to join her.

The girl intended to put Sophia at danger of falling by placing the crutch in front of her.

Sophia lost her balance, wounded herself, and believed that Anvika had done it, although Anvika had not. Amelia, Sophia's closest friend, was the girl.

As the video ended, the undeniable truth hung in the air. Amelia's face turned pale as she realized the gravity of what had been revealed, she felt insulted and was unsure of how to respond.

Gasps rippled through the crowd as the truth was revealed. Amelia's face drained of color, and she stepped forward, her voice trembling with regret. "Sophia, I'm so sorry," she stammered, tears welling up in her eyes. "I didn't mean for it to go this far. It was a mistake."

Amelia started crying.

Sophia's face twisted in anger and betrayal. She rounded on her friend, her voice a harsh whisper that cut through the stunned silence ,her face contorted with a mix of betrayal and rage. "Shut up, Amelia!" she yelled, her voice echoing through the hall. "Just go away! Get lost!"

"Iam sorry i didn't mean to .."

"Shut up and go away, Amelia! I can't believe you would do something like this."

Amelia recoiled as if struck, her eyes wide with hurt and shame. She turned and fled from the room, her steps quick and unsteady. The guests, now fully aware of the deception, murmured amongst themselves, the atmosphere thick with a mix of relief and disbelief.

Sophia stood there, her anger giving way to humiliation as the reality of her unjust accusations and public outburst set in.

Gabriel, now fully exposed and without any recourse, looked around at the faces of the guests—some filled with pity, others with judgment. The solidarity and integrity of Anvika's family had not only prevailed but had also unveiled the true culprit.

With a heavy sigh, Gabriel turned to Arya and Dhruv, his previous bravado replaced by a reluctant humility. "It seems I owe your daughter an apology," he admitted, the words tasting bitter in his mouth.

Arya nodded, his face still resolute but with a hint of satisfaction. "An apology would be a good start," he replied.
