Tahra didn't want to mention it at first but after more than an hour of watching Herret steal glances at her phone as she vigorously typed on it with immense secrecy, Tahra couldn't help but open her mouth to speak with a worried expression.
"Herret, is something wrong? You've been acting weird. If you don't want to continue the journey you can–"
"What do you mean? Of course I'm going to follow you all the there before heading back," Herret responded with such determination that Tahra couldn't bring herself to bring up the topic again.
But this time around , instead of returning back to the previous silence that had pervaded the car, Herret opened her mouth to speak.
"Do you really not want to speak with Zane one last time?" Herret asked in a low tone trying not to trigger Tahra's whose emotions had been all over the place.
"Clear the air!"
"There's nothing to clear Herret! He made his stance known in front of anyone. Staying to listen to him would just be me making a bigger fool of myself," Tahra responded turning her face away from Herret like before to show that she had no intention of continuing the conversation.
Herret on the other hand felt her phone vibrate again and all she could do was glance at it before allowing the screen to blacken.
'This is for your own good! I'm doing this for you!' Herret thought to herself, knowing that she had done all she could and everything was left in Zane's hands.
Barely thirty minutes later, a loud horning sound could be heard from behind.
Tahra thought nothing of it but Herret could feel her heart start to pound in her chest as the driver opened his mouth to speak for the first time since they started the journey.
"That car has been following us for a while now. I think it wants us to stop!"
"Keep going! Increase your speed if you have to," was Tahra's instantaneous response even as Herret seemed to have a completely different reaction.
"Tahra!--"
"At least now I know why you've been so jumpy!" Tahra said cutting her off before Herret could finish her sentence.
"That's Zane right..."
"I THINK YOU SHOULD SEE HIM ONE LAST TIME," Herret insisted clutching her phone in her hands even as she caught Tahra quietly glaring at her from the side no longer speaking to her.
"Drive faster and keep going! The person behind us will get tired soon!" Tahra ordered speaking to the driver, confident that her words would be true.
Yet, a full hour later the car continued to horn from behind, without showing any signs of turning around so much so that Tahra could barely stand it, especially since they would soon arrive at the border of A territory, where Alpha's weren't allowed to be without permission.
"Tahra! You need to speak to him," Herret said for the tenth time since the noise harrasment began and as much as Tahra wanted to refuse, Tahra slowly realized that she had changed her mind.
"STOP THE CAR!" she ordered with the driver immediately swerving to the side of the road where he packed.
"I'll stay in the car" Herret said as she watched Tahra unwilling get out of the car, angrily slamming the car door behind her as she walked to the backof the car.
Tahra had barely taken a few steps forward when she saw Zane dash out of the car with a gravely worried expression on his face.
"I told you to wait for me! I planed to drive you to X territory not A. A isn't--"
"You don't have to wait for me anymore Zane. You don't even have to pretend to care!"
"Wha-what the hell are you talking about?" Zane responded with a slightly confused expression on his face which only made Thara shake her head ever so lightly as she chuckled with an extremely cold look in her eyes as she looked at Zane.
"Yo-you banished me from my pack and you're asking me wha-what I'm talking about?" Tahra said doing her best to prevet her voice from breaking as she spoke.
"Yes but there's a--"
"Yo-you rejected me!" Tahra whispered feeling fresh tears pool in her eyes as she managed to speak the three words that weighed her down.
"Yet you're here asking me what I'm talking about?"
"I'm sorry Tahra but believe me there's a good reason why I did it. Your family--"
"My family showed you videos and you believed them. You believed them over me. My sister would do anything to be Luna!"
"I DON'T BELIEVE THEM TAHRA! CAN YOU PLEASE LET ME SPEAK!"
"Why? Did I get a chance to speak or was the video too incriminating for you?"
"I BELIEVE YOU WOULDN'T DO SUCH A THING BUT AT THAT MOMENT THE PACK WOULDN'T HAVE AGREED! If I continued kicking against it, my brother's supporters would have made the situation more chaotic,"
"I banished you cause I wanted to protect you from my brother but also your fa--"
"So you rejected me for such a flimsy reason? Because of the pack, choas or whatever?"
"Its only a half-rejection. It can be fixed once you accept me as your mate!" Zane replied trying to make Tahra see things from his own point of view.
Slowly he moved closer to her, closing the distance between them, raising his hands to pull Tahra into his arms as he watched tears slide down her cheeks as she stared at him with red-tinged eyes.
"At that point, it was the best thing to do to calm the overall situation down. If I hadn't, I could have been removed as Alpha and Xion would have had more say in what your punishment would be!" Zane continued speaking trying to make Tahra see things from his own point of view.
But he had just touched her arms when he watched Tahra raise her hands to smack his hands away, as she glared at him with a furious expression on her face, one tinged with disgust.
"I-I've been a fool! I would have burned the world for you Zane before I would allow anything to hurt you, but you…" Tahra gasped as she struggled to get her breathing under control.
